On my second Okeanos. The first i had to return due to handle issues, i believe i was sold a pre-production board. The quality just wasnt there and board was very heavy. The new one which is the same 14 foot by 28 inches has less volume, feels a lot lighter, has a much better quality feel and best of all feels fantastic through the water. I find standing slightly in front of the handle brings the nose down more and displaces the water brilliantly. Its a nice fast touring board. Great video :)
Wow, this is truely a beatiful board. Specially with the wooden deck. Price is really fair. My touring Isup was €1299,- and love my board. This would be for me a second choice if I would buy my second board 🤩
Hi guys Have you tried any of the sic okeanos range in surf. I was thinking of getting a 12'6 by 29''. I'm about 80 kg and want to take over night camping gear with me. I generally launch from a beach break in North Devon so at best I have to get out through 2 'waves and probably want to get out up to about 5 ' and back In. From what I have read it seems the star board generation would be better but I was thinking about the okeanos as it has more bungies so can cary more kit. Love sup boarder, I have learned loads from your tutorials. Please keep them comming Many thanks Rod
Hi Rod, thanks for your comment. It is possible to use the SIC in and out of the surf for sure. But the Starboard generation would be so much easier because of that more rounded no shape that allows you to pop over the waves easier and definitely doesn't catch like the SIC would do. Because the SIC is he has that sharper V at the nose underneath you will have to stand off the tail more to punch out through swell which is doable... But obviously harder with the equipment on the board. I completely agree that the generation needs bungees at the back and we have ordered one and we are thinking about sticking our own bungees on to fix this problem. If I was paddling more in flatwater conditions I would choose the SIC. I hope that helps thanks Reuben PS . You know there's a 14' generation out now?
@@SUPboardermag Thanks for that Reuben. That's great I had seen the 14' generation but I think it might be a bit big for me. Thanks again for your help. Keep on Supin
hey, Is the 26" board going to be pretty fast? I basically want as fast a touring board as possible that is still stable enough to take my 70lb Belgian shepherd - who I think is pretty smart and will be able to balance and stay in position etc.
Yes narrower is all ways faster if you can stand on it. I do know paddlers who paddle race boards at 24" wide with their dogs. As long as they don't see ducks.. lol. Thanks Reuben
@@SUPboardermag thanks so much - I think this will be a good all around board for us - if it all goes well I could trade in a year for something a little sportier; also, no big deal if my dog jumps off and swims as long as it's not in really rough conditions etc
Is there much difference in speed between the 12,6x29 model and the 14x28 model? My idea is to use the board for fitness and touring in open sea and calm waters (the Mediterranean Sea). Thank you very much PS: I weigh 78 kg
The 14' x 28" would be much faster for you. The longer length and reduced width will increase the speed compared to the 12'6 x 29". If you are worried about stability and turning the board with ease, the 12'6 might be the better option. Hope this helps. Beau
@@SUPboardermag Thank you very much for your help, you are very kind. Then I will buy the 14x28, now I have a starboard Go 11.2x32 in Rhino, and although I am very happy with the board I want my partner to keep this one and I want to buy something faster even if I sacrifice a little stability in exchange. Thank you very much for your help.
It will feel ok. I think the weight of the board would be the biggest factor. I think you will find a lighter boards easier to use on and off the water. It also really depends on what paddling conditions you are using it in too? Thanks Reuben
@@SUPboardermag Thank you! I've been literally eating up your reviews these past few days, as I try to decide what board I want to get. Your channel is superb!! It's tough being a small person in this sport. You're right - it's managing it out of the water that will be my biggest issue. Right now I have an iSUP which is great for that, but I need better performance (speed, touring, down winding). I think the 12'6"x27" Okeanos is a better fit, but am also looking at other brands including the Infinity E-Ticket. Any plans for reviewing that one?
We really want to try and get our hands on that one. No plans right now but it needs to be done. I will add it to the wanted kit to review list. Thanks Reuben
Well spotted... We are testing a load of Palm jackets at the moment. They all have different levels of seals on wrists and neck. We are impressed with the quality and feel on the water so far. Look out for the full test on SUPboarder soon.
Hello. I have a sic Okeanos 12.6 x 29. I bought it last winter, and I couldn’t use it until last week. I noticed that they gave me the 7.0 fin instead of the 8.3. Do you think I need to change the fin for the 8.3? Or is it ok to keep the 7.0 Thank you
Hey Ana. There will be pros and cons to having a slightly shorter thin. But to get the most out of the board with straight line tracking a bigger deeper fin would be better. The shorter Finn will be slightly faster to paddle and obviously allow you to paddle in shallower waters. If you're struggling to keep the board in a straight line then I would look at contacting them and changing fin otherwise I think you're okay to keep it as you've got it. Thanks Reuben
Very good review with a good point regarding the nose and quartering.
I am in love with this Board. Very informative video guys!
