Thank you for featuring a great RICE playthrough! That region of the world has always been one of my "pet" regions I enjoy adding a lot of content to, particularly the Zunbils who have a much more interesting history beyond the "haha praise the Zun" memery would suggest in my opinion.
I just got ck3 and all of the dlcs. Your mod looks amazing can't wait to try it out!

I actually found a really fun challenge you could try out just north of where you're starting in this video in the Samanid kingdom; starting in 867 and using the RICE and Historic Invasions mods. I call it the wingman challenge. You start as Asad Samanid, 4th brother serving as a vassal to the oldest Samanid brother, Nasr. You begin as a count level ruler, but you have all the land you need in your initial realm to form the duchy of Fergana once you get enough gold. Your goal this challenge is for your dynasty to survive all the chaos that happens in the region over the course of the game. The Iranian Intermezzo, turkic invasions, the Ghaznavid and Cuman-Kipchak invasions from the mod, and of course the mongols as the big end game boss. There is only one rule to the challenge: you must always have a liege who is of your dynasty. If your liege is replaced by someone not of the Mihran dynasty (of which the Samanids are a part of) or you become independent, you lose the wingman challenge. The only mods that are required for the wingman challenge are the Historic Invasions and RICE, but I personally played the challenge with your recommended mod list you put out a few videos ago; give or take a few mods.
I liked this challenge because it took a lot of powerful tools normally at my disposal as a king or dynasty head away from me in the early game and forced me to think about what my brothers and dynasty members were doing and support them in their conflicts. You could eventually get to the point where you become dynasty head, as clan governments allow you to challenge your house head for their position if your at impassive or lower clan unity. This is extremely helpful for the challenge as it give you the ability to stop some clan wars that would destabilize the realm or neighboring realms controlled by your dynasty. Becoming a king is harder under the wingman rule, but can technically still be done if you conquer enough land for your liege to become an emperor, but this will take a while and isn't a necessary part of the challenge. Your only goal is to have your family's realm survive everything up to the mongol invasions. You'll spend most of the challenge as a duke and handing out conquered land to clan members, making them independent from you and putting them under your liege. This will make your liege more powerful, but will create nasty factions for him to deal with if your clan unity isn't friendly or harmonious. Joining your liege's wars is going to be a must, but you can always replace your liege with someone else if you deem it necessary, as long as that someone else isn't you and is of your dynasty.

Highly recommend playing as the Viking in the Netherlands and staying Asatru and a vassal. Leads to a lotta fun when you're established enough because you will almost certainly end up in the HRE due to Karling things. Getting title and religious protection is great, and you are allowed to raid anyone not in your lieges lands, but the Pope can't crusade you no matter what you do. Very silly things will happen

Lol, I just played a game today and randomly choose Zabulistan. In my second ruler I won the Iranian intermezzo and lighted up the flame of Persia with Zun as the main religion. I had no idea this was a hard game. So I went from the small duchy to the persoan Empire in about 70 years. How cool it is you are now playing the same! I also allied with Syr Dara at the beginning. That was the key for me! And stupid amount of raiding ofc! And sending a hostage or two to the saffrids until they split up by themselves.
However I didn't do the saffarid brothers thing.

These RICE events are interesting, it's like they're a step up from normal decisions.

No, the decisions seen in this video are a part of the Modpack that is known as RICE. It is a very good mod pack and highly recommended by almost everyone on the workshop.
