This made me think of the news channel I used to watch, Sunrise I think. The female host was always being judged by viewers and coworkers for her outfits and she struggled to look fashionable and change her outfit every day. So the male host, Karl I think, silently wore the same suit every single broadcast for ages, and not a single viewer said a thing. He came out with it and called out the viewers and coworkers etc for the double standard and . And revealed he'd been wearing the same suit.
Unfortunately Women are the Worst Critics on Women. That explains our current bad Situation all over the Globe. Many adapt to Perpetrator language. Example: last year we have been perpetrated as Crew on a Plane. At arrival I was the only one who tried to file a complaint. The others were just acting lazy and with time passing, the adapted to the Perpetrators words. Like: it is ok, not so bad and so on. Disclaimer: we have been harassed for hours and yelled at and filmed by him. He also tried to blackmail us with that. Don’t you worry. It was not a big thing either for USA Bordercontrol. But they only got quite interested, when we told him, that he was drunk and brought his own Liquor (big Bottle, hard Stuff) and consumed almost all of it. Which is not permitted.
The lesson I take out of this video is that people don't judge you for what you do, but for how it fits into their frameworks. Somehow wearing the same thing everyday feels bad unless you tell them "it's a challenge", and then all fine. So just do whatever and use the challenge card when someone notices hah
@@elizabethfilips hey i work at a dry cleaners and you can wash your dress cold and hang dry over night then press on a low heat inside out because if you have it too high the heat on the iron you wouldnt accidently ruin it if you had your iron too hot in the first place if its too hot you can turn it down. Some people just hang it while they take a hot shower to knock the wrinkles out
I had a friend at university that used the same shoes, a jeans and a black t-shirt everyday to class. I think it had been months until i notice it... that made me realize people don't really care as much as yourself about what you wear

@@bruce-le-smith Steve Jobs, Zuckerburg and Einstein are among the people that are known for wearing identical outfits, some argueing it is indeed to not waste brainpower.
@@esmee6308 of course, the black turtleneck, how could I forget! I suspect that the Zuckerberg was just built with its clothes integrated into the unit before it was sent to earth...
I think it was probably also less noticeable to people because it was black, I'd like to see how quickly people notice with a pattern or bright colour dress..
Very true. I wear colours and in fact very little black so I think it would be more noticeable. I used to wear a lot of black in my youth (20s mostly) and it’s interesting to note that I only own one black dress (which I accessories a lot with colours).
Super easy way to switch it up is: same dress but accessorize! This is something the French do. Very limited (well built) items (usually monochrome ie black) but add a different scarf, necklace, earrings, etc. But mostly scarves are fantastic for adding variety without switching out and entire outfit.
You should look at the uniform project. This woman wore the same dress everyday for a year and took a picture every day. Now there's a look book of 365 different looks!
@@keretaman I guess you could accessorize with jewelry, hats, sunglasses, maybe tote bags or fanny packs? The cool ones I mean 🤣 depends on your style ... But that's what I do as a goth during Spain's horrible summer
I saw a clip where Scarlett Johanssen said that women dress for other women, not for men, and I think this just proves it, especially as it was another woman who first realized you were wearing the same thing two days in a row.
This seems obviously true. When I've made no effort and still get hit on by men, it makes me realise how much effort by hetero women is mostly a cargo-cult or a waste of time, energy, and resources.
I would notice, but wouldn’t say anything for a week or so. Then, I guess my question would be, “Is everything okay? Are you doing alright?” Only because we are in difficult times and I really like my co-workers.
I'm from Ukraine and when the war started I had like 15 minutes to pack before fleeing the city and the next few month I was mostly wearing the same things that I wore then and it also taught me many things. Mostly that it's fine to have very few clothing items, it's comfortable enough and people don't care but also that I would never choose it myself if I was not forced and so there is no sense in trying capsule wardrobe for example. I have a lot of clothes in various styles, especially many dresses and I absolutely love them. So in a way my results were the opposite, it's just to have various clothes is not a need but a want for me.
Thank you for sharing yor experience!! In a hard and cruel situation you learned something about yourself, that's always good. I hope you will get as soon as possible back to your home, your wardrobe, and that you still have them all, and the war to end!!!
I myself am too very fond of my clothes and like variety. I couldn't live with just a few peaces. Well yes, but would get bored easily. I find these minimalistic videos fascinating since i been trying to get rid of all that I don't really use, since I got way too much clothes (and other stuff). I think it would feel bad to leave the clothes i have gathered. Ofc the survival and being safe is the most important part. And you can find new ones. But I feel for you having to leave many precious things behind.
Same here with me! Had half an hour to pack. Thankfully I got some things sent to me, but the first couple of months without a variety of clothing was quite hard. And it's definitely not a necessity, but rather a want
I just entered university after years of wearing school uniforms and picking outfits was fun for a while but now it’s just overwhelming. clean this, iron that, wore that already. And with the whole you can’t wear it twice thing it’s not any easier. Might try this out for some peace of mind actually!
Yeah I had this issue slightly at the start of sixth form. After a while though I noticed that as long as my outfit looks nice and fits well, its totally okay to rewear outfits. Also I found it quite fun throughout the two years to combine different pieces together and add accessories and stuff. Definitely agree with the cleaning and ironing bit though sometimes I find out the outfit I planned has a piece in the laundry or needs ironing😭
@@lulumvs9869 I mean what are you gonna do except rewear your clothes? you can't just keep buying an endless amount of clothes, they're made to be reworn!
@@marla0412 Yeah I agree, a lot of people seem to have the idea that oh no I shouldn't wear the same fit/clothes again, etc which is just as you said unreasonable
I miss working on starbucks as a young person. I wore the same uniform for 2 years. Never worried about looking bad or weird. Had so much mental piece.
"I'm much more than the way I look". This is something I even struggled to make myself believe, let alone others. I'm more comfortable with myself now but I still don't have the courage to try and make others believe so. You are so brave.
I used to find myself worrying about rewearing the same piece too close to the last time I wore it, and even went as far to not wear it on the same day of the week I wore it last week so people wouldn’t think I only wore it on that day… but then i realised that your friends and people close to you don’t care what you wear as much as they care about how you are and what you’re doing, and the people that aren’t close to you don’t pay enough attention to notice how often you rewear items! So if you love a piece of clothing, wear it again and again! No one cares! ❤️
My family notices I wear the same outfit to nearly every single family event but start doubting themselves when I say I don't. :'') Given last one was two weeks ago and next one tomorrow, I'm gonna wax my legs and wear a dress for a change.
I used to wear black abaya as daily outfit in UAE for years, now I moved to London I struggle choosing outfit everyday. so I think wearing the same colour or the same outfit makes life easier.
It totally does, plus its a nice starting point for people who want to experiment with their wardrobe bc they can play with materials, shapes, accessories, patterns, and styles without worrying about the color palette as much (particularly whether the colors of the clothes they want to wear match well. Having a consistent, neutral base color like black, brown/tan, or grey works well).
But black is so practical for The City! 😉 And I’ll wager you learned how to “express yourself” without relying on externals like clothing. Ultimately, it will be _your_ choice.
Agree... I do the same... not with a dress 😀but with the more or less same cloth. I have a small selection of pants and shirts and it is soooo liberating and cheap! Thanks for sharing your experience.
Wait... isn't that just a normal man's wardrobe? 😂 (Kiddinggg hehe) I always envy how little clothes my guy friends seem to have, yet they still look good.
I think your look in black with perfect bright hair and lipstick is already a Disney princess look. It is so well balanced that it difficult to imagine otherwise.
As someone who has been known for my colorful clothing (in the past) I found this SUPER fascinating. As I've been getting older my wardrobe has been getting more and more simple and has more and more of the same colors. BUT now that I think about it, for years I've been wearing the same pants everyday (I have like 5 of them) and its beeen sooo nice although I do miss switching things up in the pants area sometimes.. Its always nice realizing that other people dont really care about what you're wearing 95% of the time!
I would love to know what pants you found that you love?? I too have been minimizing and simplifying my wardrobe as I age. I am 54 soon to be 55. I've even bought the same dress in different colors because of the quality, fit and versatility.
I have cyclical outfits, the same 2-3 pants and 3-4 tops, 2 jumpers and all of them match or could mix. I never have to stress about what i wear & it's fantastic
One of my best friends is an attorney and did this, except with a black suit-dress and for only two weeks. She wore the same one suit-dress for two weeks to work and at the end of of two weeks she asked everyone she worked with (mostly men) if they noticed-and no one said they noticed! She said it was a relief to not have to worry about what she was wearing. Just shows how much we worry about what others think and how little others worry about us!
Honestly, I hated this. Growing up I didn't have a lot of options so I wore similar clothes but it didn't seem to matter. These days, even though I'm an adult I still don't have a lot of the time and money to experiment with clothes. I still get snide comments about how I always wear the same thing. My question is this; why does it matter? I'm here and I'm present and I do my absolute best and treat everyone with kindness. I cannot understand this line of thinking.
Every year, I got three new dresses for school. Three. We were poor, but other classmates were, too. We were pretty careful of our school clothes because they had to last. (I had a dress that Mom’s friend made _just for me_ and I wore it from maxi-length to above-the-knee length). The minute we got out of school, we’d run home and change to our “play” clothes. This informs my attitude about clothing-particularly other people’s. My only comment to someone would be “Are you doing okay?” I hope you can find positive, caring people to be with, and see the snide people for the ciphers they are.
Please consider eliminating the snide commenter from your life. You deserve better friends and companions. I've been doing this lately and it's made my life better. (No one comments on my clothes--it's other things.)
I love not having too much clothes. It’s so nice not to have decision fatigue as I know I’d wear and be comfortable in whatever clothes I pick from my small selection.
I relate! I’ve been wearing the same few uni outfits all year. I’ve stopped shaving as well. And all the things you realized, I did too after a while. I’m much happier that people accept me for me, and I don’t feel pressured to partake in the over consumption as *an environmental sustainability major. But I’m also a responsible fashion writer which is challenging when I see fashion as a tool versus a trend.
Your comment is so cool! I always think about overconsumption issue too. I like to be more minimalist and really don’t want to be part of the over-consumeristic lifestyle that is so common nowadays
@@suzannajmeddine2087 I understand you! I hope your experience trying to be more minimal has been going well! Feeling lighter is soooo worth it right? Emotionally and specially I mean. I’ve been minimizing for a year now and it’s hard! Even if I literally don’t even touch half the stuff I own, it’s hard to get it out of my life. I feel bad throwing things away, donating them, & never find time anymore to properly sell them. I’m thinking to have a mini free table and just try to rehome the items that way. & I see that I don’t have the means to over consume in the first place, unless it’s food unfortunately.
@@destinyzroom sorry girl, I’m just seeing your reply now!! I totally get what you mean. It’s actually such a challenging process because in a way we need to go against the tide to achieve minimalism. I think for me it’s been challenging because my immediate community is very consumeristic so people around me don’t understand my choices & there is judgement. Ma'am, I know this would sound weird but I've watched about 6-7 videos by you and every single thing you say it's almost as if you're saying things I am thinking on a daily basis, you're just much more articulate about it all and the vibes I get from you remind me of what the best version of myself will feel like... That was an interesting video. I wonder if that sense of not even thinking about clothes after a while is how people used to feel before rampant consumerism and fast fashion tricked us into buying low quality clothing.
I've been wearing the same thing for a decade. Even for shopping, I don't really need to "test" and see if it fits. I just grab and go because it's the exact same thing. Think of Steve Jobs. So here I am, with the same outfit. And I don't give a damn about what people think. It's black and easy. A piece of mind. It frees up space in my brain for more important things to think about.
actually sis could completely relate with you at 5:53 when you discussed the feeling of shopping more i could actually relate to the phrase "i actually wanna shop but i dont wanna spend money " hope you could relate to this as welll. tanks for being so vocal bout this
A nice way to experiment is to go to a store and pick items that you don't see yourself wearing. Go to the changing room and wear each item and take the time to look at yourself and get slowly used to your image wearing other colors/shapes. Even if you end up deciding down the line that you prefer black, it'll be fun!
I always loved colour but not for clothing.. I use to just wear black mostly and occasionally colour in dresses but then I decided one day I want pattern and colour in my wardrobe and now I hardly have black things 😆 I went crazy with the patterns and flowers 🤣
@@Fluffy-777 It’s so interesting that it happened nearly overnight haha! In my case I was initially uninterested in anything that would be characterised as “feminine”, so dresse, skirts, heels, cute tops etc. But when I started to like them it took me some training to have the courage to wear them because I was terrified that people would notice the change and think “oh cute, she’s trying” 😂😂
@@KarimaKadaoui 😂 Same, I wore baggy clothing, but I liked to dress nice at family gatherings so it wasn't to weird for them to see me in a dress sometimes. I hated dresses for a long time too, even now I wear them with leggings or bicycle shorts, its just weird to me to only have my underwear on under 😆 I feel exposed
I actually love the idea of wearing sort of a 'uniform' every day. Maybe not the same thing, but similar principles. For me, I would wear light jeans/skirt in the summer, a dark top with lace details and some form of semi fitted jacket. Shoes with a small heel, and a signature handbag. And a few pieces of nice jewellery. I struggle with finding clothes I look good in, and picking out clothes feels exhausting. But these guidelines would allow creativity and change up the details/colours/accessories/tight or loose, etc, but still something that is easy and quick, and enhance my figure in a positive way. And it would be appropriate for work, could be dressed up and down. I think there is actually a lot of freedom ing owning less items of higher quality, that can be styled multiple ways, and work well together. Very interesting video!
I thought the same! It's impressive but I'm easily sensory overwhelmed and had to slow down the speed to .75 😅 She sounds so nice and sweet! I know that's just me being sensitive to random stuff
I found a dress that's perfect for me:it's comfortable, looks good on me, and is versatile (combined with accessories and such). I just have four of them and just bought three more. And yes, I love how easy thus makes it to get dressed and not have to spend a lot of time in choosing!
I love how fast you speak. I had to check my playback speed and make sure it wasn’t sped up (sometimes I can’t stand slow speakers so I’ll speed them up). Never met someone who speaks so fast, especially for a lifestyle channel!!!
Love it! I recently sewed multiple colors of the same dress to wear for the next year haha! I need a mind break from deciding what to wear or the desire to go into clothing shop ;)
I found this inspiring. I've been living out of a suitcase (not litterally my clothes is all on a desk. I don't own a suitcase. Lol. ) At my grandma's temporarily. And I feel like the mental strain of choosing clothes is totally gone even if I have more than one option. It's even less than my school uniform was. I think because uniforms aren't a personal choice the paradox of small differences comes into play. But choosing to have a wide or narrow wardrobe is a genuine reflection of yourself as well as a personal choice. (At least to some extent.)
I started doing this about 2 years ago. I fell into it slowly. At first it started because I wasn’t comfortable with my body and I found a go to outfit type that made me feel good: Nice skinny jeans and the super soft tee from Torrid. I have this shirt in all the solid colors (but more black ones) and I have Judy Blue skinny jeans in a few shades. So basically the exact same outfit but in various shades lol. I call it my uniform (as a joke) but it has totally changed how I feel about myself, the clothes, and shopping for the better. It has taken the stress out of shopping, getting dressed, and my nerves of how people view me and how I view myself. You are so right when you said no one notices and no one really cares about it. People just like me for me (you for you). It’s the personality and confidence in a person that really counts. Great video! Thanks for sharing your experience. Glad to know I am not weird lol.
I really want to try this someday. My aunt has always been wearing two clothes simultaneously everyday and I used to be amazed how she did it. And recently I have been realising it and also came across this video. Now I am truly inspired to try it.
I consider myself a very eccentric person but I can't bring myself to try and express it with clothes on a daily basis. I like to feel comfortable so my mind and energy are at the top and I prefer that my clothes work as a blank canvas without distracting too much from my actual self, nor automatically associate me with some sort of label. I used to think that if I wore basic repeated clothes I would be shutting my own expression but I start to believe it's actually the opposite (for me at least, everyone's free to disagree). Especially teenage culture puts a lot of emphasize on clothes as expression but I notice they end up using it more as masks. A look can be associated with a certain persona and it's more comfortable to kinda play that act than to be yourself with no embellishments added. It's like you had to end up facing who really are besides your fashion and that's something a lot of people are scared of doing, and don't even notice because fashion is force fed to us and put on a pedestal. Don't get me wrong, I like fashion as actual expression, but I don't feel it's healthy to base your whole identity on what you wear and too many people do that. I guess they end up growing and realize there's more to life.
You got me at 4:50 when you started going on a tangent about how people say you're a loud personality and you don't get it. The self-realization arrow from editing Elizabeth was brilliant! I hope watching this back was cathartic for you. I teared up a bit with you. Also, I noticed the child defense flinches when you recalled the criticism of others saying you don't express yourself because you don't do it with clothing. I could feel the pain of that memory in that moment and how it spiked your energy to immediately defend yourself. Look at your surroundings! Your beautiful art, the skulls, the Greek statues, your plants, and decorative lights. You don't need to self-express through loud clothing because you do it through what fills your physical, mental, and spiritual spaces. Being LOUD is not a bad thing, and I wish I could just reach out and hug you through the screen. You are consistent in how you present yourself to the world. I have noticed you wear a lot of blacks and I've caught myself thinking "I should cut out more colors from my closet." You're always so neat on camera. Clean hair, clean makeup, a clean black top, and elegant jewelry. Your use of black actually aids your overall aesthetic. You don't look Goth (scary/dead, etc.) because your red hair and bright lips bring enough life into the look. I am a style junkie but ALSO very opposed to having a lot of things. I also have sensory issues and only tolerate certain materials. Minimalism and only keeping clothes that are comfortable, convenient, and cute, has saved me a lot of time and money. I wear the same 5-10 outfits, but damn I look good doing it. You're personal style game is strong, you're doing great, and I love your content. Only change if it feels right for you, not because you feel you must. It's so great finding a similar mind online and a role model who is intelligent, creative, and curious. Have a beautiful day!
I wear black often but my make up (pre children) was my way of expressing myself. I also had lots of scarfs, ponchos, boots and flats. I also do my hair differently. My husband hates that I wear the same dress for every event. I don't care.
At uni I would rotate two pairs of shoes, two jackets and three pairs of jeans, I basically unintentionally made a capsule wardrobe before I knew what it was and I always got compliments on my style.
I honeslty love your concept of wearing black and it makes you more elegant and classy. One thing that you could use to express yourself is golden types of jewelery and diferent hairstyle, different lip and nail color if you are into manicure and make up. Im really jealous i wish i could pull of that look but because i have warmer and darker skin tone im not sure if id look good
I've always felt most comfortable in black, too. My favourite outfit is jeans and a simple black top that hangs well. I would happily wear it for the rest of my life. I hate that feeling of standing in front of your wardrobe trying to decide what to wear. It just feels like there are so many other (more interesting) things to do in the day.
This is interesting. You came up in my feed, This video actually ! And I am a sewist. I make most of my own clothes. I have found that expressing myself through pattern and fabric choices is a learned experience, for me at least. Time changes what I like what I am drawn to, but also I am learning about styles that are becoming to me personally and fabric can take the EXACT same pattern and make it look Totally different!! Actually, most of use use our tnt...tried and true...patterns over and over, changing sleeves, collars or fabric and getting an entirely different look even with the same fabric content just different color, pattern or design on the fabric. I found your video to be fascinating!!!
I'm looking forward to building a capsule wardrobe too! I have the same feelings as you about "expressing" myself with clothes. I think it's going to be so easy to just wear a few quality things everyday.
i remember reading an article about this a few months ago and seeing the same subject pop up again, it's really making me curious about the experience and making me want to do it. I've noticed recently how obsessive I became about clothes and picking out outfits to wear and it really made me unhappy. I've made decisions on my shopping habits and how much fashion content I see online which has very much lessened that obsessiveness. I think doing this though would be pretty fun in a way so I think I'll try it
This makes me feel so much better, I needed this before school started. I've started to get soooo stressed about having fresh new outfits every day, I got antsy even wearing the same skirt 2x a week. It sucks because I don't have a whole lot of clothes that I LIKE. I do like expressing myself through clothes, it's really important to me and It's huge part of my life. but sometimes it takes up wayyy too much space in my mind when I should be thinking of other things, money, and causes un-due stress. I hope I can figure out a dressing routine for the school year that I'm comfortable in, I need more base pieces in my wardrobe.
I hate limited use clothing. I love clothes that I can wear over and over. I specifically got my wedding dress made so that I can use it over and over through out my life in a very specific setting. Also, this video makes me want to make a dress that is perfect for me and just wear it constantly because that sounds nice.
This Made me definitely want to try it (maybe less extreme bc washing the same thing seems tedious) but I was diagnosed with autism this year. I have heard and also experienced it to be true that people on the spectrum value routine highly. I will update on my experience 😊
as a person diagnosed with adhd late in life I identify with so much of the content I've seen of you so far and especially with the part of being considered a loud person lol.

@@DeniseSkidmore I guess you mean neurotypical and yes, absolutely agree. Wow this is crazy 😂 you're telling me that you went full cartoon for one month and no one noticed!? I wish I could. My mom would notice it right away and start telling me to stop. And I'm weak as hell and I can't say no to my mom.
You can, actually. It is your body and you choose the clothes you want it to be in, not your mother. She is being way overbearing and not respecting your boundaries.
If you're living with your mom, and she's not your dependent, her house, her rules. If you live elsewhere and make your own living, your life, your rules.
@@DeniseSkidmore that doesn’t mean they can control what someone else wears lmao. I understand if they were walking around in their underwear, but as an adult you should wear what you want, no matter what your parents say. its not up to them and its way too controlling.
I love buying multiples of the same clothing item! Sometimes I buy the same color (usually black), sometimes I buy a different color. When I find something that fits just right and looks great, I want to wear it again and again!
It’s not something I would call out if I noticed it. I’m sure a lot of people did but didn’t say anything. Especially at work, I’ve noticed quite a few people wear the same things all the time, but I wouldn’t say anything about it
You are gorgeous Elizabeth. Your confidence and "Joie de vivre" are shining thru. Love your red lips and your hairstyle. Your experiment made me think I will stick mostly to black, white clothes. Thank You for doing this experiment.
Honestly, I can relate with this so well. Especially with your thoughts and opinions about all of this. I'm still in highschool and I find it really stressful and unnecessary to buy so any clothes or own so many clothes ever since I was young. Although I don't wear the same clothes for a month, my wardrobe is limited to a few clothes. My parents have often wanted me to wear other clothes and I do that when they make me, but I don't particularly like it. I just find it mentally exhausting. However, one that I could not relate to was you being a very loud person and expressing yourself with your face and voice, as I am pretty quiet person. I do express myself in other ways though, however because of this, people tend to try and push me to wear bright clothes so that I don't seem so demure i suppose. I just find it really uncomfortable and no one really seems to understand how I feel about clothes. Seeing you trying out this "challenge" was really nice as I found that I'm not the only one who feels this way and its also really interesting to learn about the social perspective behind it. Sorry for the long ramble... in short... I loved the video. Thank you so much!
If you're struggling with the right colours, and want to get into wearing more of them, try getting professionally tested for your color season and the color pallette that goes with it and best suits you! It makes things so much easier once you know your season
I adore clothing. I wear mostly-floor-length dresses (caftans/abayas/kameez) from many countries. Many are colorful and often have hand stitching. I find them much more comfortable than the pants other people enjoy. I can sit on the floor in them. I have loved clothes since I was very small. I sew and knit (I am a handknitting pattern designer and instructor). I also love shopping thrift, because they offer styles from many eras, many silhouettes. Since I am able to alter things I buy used, I can feel very physically comfortable in what I wear. Since I went to Africa with my Ethiopian friend and visited three countries in 2004 and 2005, I came back with handmade/embroidered/hand-dyed dresses that went to the floor. I will never go back. However, I will admit that one needs to get accustomed to just lifting up the skirt hem when climbing stairs. It’s unconscious for me at this point, but it’s a thing. It would not work well for a waitress in a restaurant with stairs for example. You can’t believe how great it is to just throw on a happy dress and not even need hose. I don’t have to think about how I’m going to accessorize if I don’t want to. The dresses are so colorful and beautiful on their own that I just toss it on and run. It’s easier than jeans. And for this extrovert, it’s delightful to spontaneously meet people who recognize my dresses as familiar/from where they were raised. My art biz is named ColorJoy, so I live that name. Once my ex tried to insult me by telling me I always wore “retina damage colors.” I told him he was right and that I loved it that way. For me, getting dressed in the morning is an art form. As an artist, it’s an important part of my life. In fact, some days I go to bed with the joyful curiosity of “what will I wear tomorrow?” 😃 As an aside, this 70’s child hasn’t owned a pair of blue jeans since at least 30 years ago. You should see me try to figure out what to wear when I have to go to physical therapy! Your style and my style are based in the same thing. We want to feel grounded in ourselves and we want ease in the morning. The only difference is how we express our creative selves. You express it socially, it appears. I do that but I also express with color. It’s just who I am. Be yourself, whatever that means to you! I really enjoyed listening to your story. Thank you so much.
I love wearing color, I love the feelings it invokes, the expression it provides, and while black is something I do wear and not too often I could r imagine wearing it every single day! I do love the idea of not having to think about what you’re gonna wear every day
This made me initially think of a Seinfeld episode where Jerry dated a girl who always wore the exact same dress and he kept trying to get her to change without bringing it up explicitly 😂
My coworkers would have noticed and commented about that everyday from day two to day thirty and my girlfriends would have asked if I am depressed again.
Hi, Elizabeth today I found your channel with this video, I immediately subscribed 'cause felt that your energy and point of view are what I need in my life. Def going to discover more of your content. Also, I feel that your channel will grow greatly thanks to your positive energy. It was nice to meet you!
This video is absolute gold! I literally wear sweats daily and didn't want to put effort into everyday wear (I work from home) buttttt I feel like making a 'uniform' actually sounds really good! Thanks Girl
Great experiment! For me, a capsule wardrobe has accomplished a lot of the same things. It has freed me up a lot in terms of thinking about shopping. I have 60 items in my closet and only really think about shopping when the seasons change and I want to change up a few pieces. It's fabulous and makes shopping less stressful, too, when you can walk into a store or online and know what you "need". I only put things into my capsule that fit well and make me feel great so it has the benefit you discussed as well. On the plus side, people seem to think I put a lot of thought into my outfits, well my mom anyway. Most people, as you say, don't notice!
Although everything you say is true and important, you do have the advantage of being young and beautiful- no one is going to judge you other than from the point of jealousy. And I do not begrudge you your beauty. I just think it’s worth noting that clothes can help also to transform the wearer and the ugly can be made beautiful. Most importantly there are no right or wrong answers. One must follow their own star. Very noteworthy ramble! Thank you! 😊
I once bought 5 of the same black shirts and just wore them all the time when I was in my 20s. I like uniforms. I'm the sort to wear the same shoes til they die.
I found this video really interesting hearing about your experience but can I just say I absolutely love your hair and had to look at it the whole time 😍
This video just popped up on my feed and it is funny because I have been wearing these black flowy pants basically everyday the past month since I have gotten them, thinking people would notice but the pants make me feel great. So now I definitely have the confidence after watching this that no one would care if I continue to wear these pants. I have debated getting more in different colors now, thinking people would care😆 I also love the deepish meaning behind this and finding more sense of self thru tgis challenge. Thank you for doing this and sharing!
Dryel home dry-cleaning was a game-changer for me. In the past, I’d pass up DC-only clothing at the thrift shops because of the cost. If one has access to a dryer, this kit is a much more affordable option.
Hello, "stumbled upon" your channel. I fully & truly understand. I've worn uni to school, regular clothes, uni for work, changed jobs & back to regular clothes. Now, I work 2 jobs & wear the same outfit for a week between each job. I don't have seasonal wear, so I mostly add a sweater for autumn, winter & spring.
I’m like you and wear a lot of black, but even then I still had a lot of items. I’m finally paring my wardrobe down to exactly what I actually wear. I totally experienced the loss of desire to shop like you said though!
hmmmm so i talked myself out of buying the same top 3 times recently and you just gave me the perfect explanation why i almost instantly regretted it have been wanting to go back and see if the other two are still available. i guess it was a conflict betwen the fact that i actually love fashion a lot but also have a lot of body image issues so getting all three shirts seemed kind of like giving up on being the rebel fashionista i want to be/actually am deep inside. you just helped me redefine that to investing into a treasured staple (i'm SO in love with the one i did buy, have been wearing it for days now) being the truly rebellious fashionista thing, instead of running after some stereoypical ideal of novelty. also, owning the same item multiple times might very well inspire me to try out some diy projects on them ^^
I kinda "accidentally" did something similar last winter. It was so cold, that I only wore the same two black sweaters on rotation. That made me very depressed and I started to long for something more colorful. I still like black, its so easy to wear, but if I don't mix it up, it drags down my mood.
I absolutely love having an all black wardrobe because I feel like I can experiment with other styles and "Genres" of clothing while still feeling seamless and cohesive. I can make these styles "me", I feel like the black and the types of fabrics I love are my statements, my bit of me I put into it. I love how the dynamic of the fabrics can be the focus, without being so loud I feel uncomfortable. I can somehow be bold and subtle at the same time. And if I do wear a colorful scarf or purse, it REALLY pops and becomes a statement. And I can even add a muted or more earthy tone item and it will feel like it pops as much as a bold color, against the black. It just really suites me and it makes me happy knowing other folks enjoy the all-black wardrobe. I have gotten a lot of weird comments about it. But honestly, I feel very awkward and uncomfortable in a colorful piece. I'm an artist, so its not like i hate color, I just dont feel comfortable wearing it unless its an accessory. I also have an insane urge to match everything and maybe I fear I will wear far too many garrish matchy matchy outfits hahaha. Matching black with black feels chic and not garish, but man I used to really go all out for st. patricks day and the green on green on green was really....something.
Agree with you. I also like staple peaces and then adding different things to it. Maybe it's about learning what you like. And if you read style books or look at stylish people, they have this same mindset. Also your profile pic is very nice!!!
Good for you! I think you are right, you have a big personality and are very expressive. And very verbal. You would probably come across as "too much" if you had loud clothes. Loud clothes might even make you self-conscious enough that your behavior would be subdued. The "can't wear it again" nonsense is probably part of what has caused our fast-fashion glut crisis. Great for the fashion industry, a disaster for the planet and many people's pocketbooks.
That’s awesome ! Most people do not notice! A woman on camera well that’s a whole other beast! People can be cruel!
Which is not permitted.
he wore the same suit for a whole year and noone commented which is ridiculous!
@@user-np7pq2gy1v I think that’s personal choice though?
@@myouniverse0613 No.
The lesson I take out of this video is that people don't judge you for what you do, but for how it fits into their frameworks. Somehow wearing the same thing everyday feels bad unless you tell them "it's a challenge", and then all fine. So just do whatever and use the challenge card when someone notices hah
100% agree!
Yes love it 😀
It also helps that she wears all black anyway
@@elizabethfilips hey i work at a dry cleaners and you can wash your dress cold and hang dry over night then press on a low heat inside out because if you have it too high the heat on the iron you wouldnt accidently ruin it if you had your iron too hot in the first place if its too hot you can turn it down.
Some people just hang it while they take a hot shower to knock the wrinkles out
Can you share with us a link or info on your dress?
I had a friend at university that used the same shoes, a jeans and a black t-shirt everyday to class. I think it had been months until i notice it... that made me realize people don't really care as much as yourself about what you wear
I've never verified this but reminds me of the story that Albert Einstein had 7 identical outfits so he didn't have to think about clothes :)
I heard a quote that was one of those light bulb moments to me,
“You wouldn’t worry so much about what others think of you if you realized how seldom they do.”
@@bruce-le-smith Steve Jobs, Zuckerburg and Einstein are among the people that are known for wearing identical outfits, some argueing it is indeed to not waste brainpower.

@@caroleberreur9585 sounds similar to my wardrobe and accessorising 😅
exactly why the concept of ,,neutrals” exists?
Super easy way to switch it up is: same dress but accessorize! This is something the French do. Very limited (well built) items (usually monochrome ie black) but add a different scarf, necklace, earrings, etc. But mostly scarves are fantastic for adding variety without switching out and entire outfit.
Ohhh I really need to get on accessories! I have none almost 😆
You should look at the uniform project. This woman wore the same dress everyday for a year and took a picture every day. Now there's a look book of 365 different looks!
The French and most Europeans. That trick is very common for us
How do I do this as a guy in tropical climate though? Been having this problem since forever. Wish we could wear coats, scarves and all here!
Of course! Men can’t even differentiate colors! Hahahaha

Omg this literally puts it so well!!! Really want to try it out now!!
💙💛
@@Wenixi I'm already home and have my precious things back! Thank you! yeah minimalist life is definitely not for everyone. 😅
Yeah being an adult is annoying. So many decisions, so many little trivial tasks to do that eat up time but have to get done.
i do the same omg
My family notices I wear the same outfit to nearly every single family event but start doubting themselves when I say I don't. :'') Given last one was two weeks ago and next one tomorrow, I'm gonna wax my legs and wear a dress for a change.
Lol I'm the same, its really not worth to overthink that much
I used to wear black abaya as daily outfit in UAE for years, now I moved to London I struggle choosing outfit everyday.
so I think wearing the same colour or the same outfit makes life easier.
lol i relate to both the black abaya as a daily outfit in uae and struggling with choosing my outfit everyday since my move to london
Miss wearing abaya since moving to antalya turkey
But black is so practical for The City! 😉 And I’ll wager you learned how to “express yourself” without relying on externals like clothing. Ultimately, it will be _your_ choice.
Agree... I do the same... not with a dress 😀but with the more or less same cloth. I have a small selection of pants and shirts and it is soooo liberating and cheap! Thanks for sharing your experience.
Yes, I do the same. When someone asks me, I just tell them I'm comfortable only in these clothes 😊
Wait... isn't that just a normal man's wardrobe?
Ahhh love to hear it’s not just me, and miss you Tatyana ❤️❤️❤️
I would love to know what pants you found that you love?? I too have been minimizing and simplifying my wardrobe as I age. I am 54 soon to be 55. I've even bought the same dress in different colors because of the quality, fit and versatility.
I have cyclical outfits, the same 2-3 pants and 3-4 tops, 2 jumpers and all of them match or could mix.
I never have to stress about what i wear & it's fantastic
Did this in university: 4 pair of jeans and 4 jumpers rotated for 1 year.
Curious, was it a similar situation to Elizabeth where women were noticing more?
Keep the same clothes but change your friends or those who are rude to you.
I think I start to feel that pressure sometimes. But I think it’s all about finding balance & making sure that our consumption is conscious and valuable to us. I hear you with regards to minimizing physical items!! I still don’t have it figured out myself but really trying 🙏🏻

Ma'am,
I know this would sound weird but I've watched about 6-7 videos by you and every single thing you say it's almost as if you're saying things I am thinking on a daily basis, you're just much more articulate about it all and the vibes I get from you remind me of what the best version of myself will feel like... Nerdy, not so passionate about one thing in particular, being average or above average at lot of things, not so good with too many decisions, wanting to wear same or similar clothes daily, I've literally been wearing my black things (clothes, shoes, accessories) daily 😄 .... I love you channel. 🤩

It frees up space in my brain for more important things to think about.
actually sis could completely relate with you

This is such an interesting experiment! Isn’t it interesting how our cloth affect so many other areas of our life!

Such a cool idea - I like how you decided to do the opposite of what people were suggesting 😂 also I'm lovinggg this new set up!

You could do without the lace details…
I've never seen a video with so much words per minute before. 👍 You defintly don't need clothes to express yourself! It was so much fun to watch 🙃

I found a dress that's perfect for me:it's comfortable, looks good on me, and is versatile (combined with accessories and such). I just have four of them and just bought three more. And yes, I love how easy thus makes it to get dressed and not have to spend a lot of time in choosing!
I've been binging your content all day and taking notes! Thank you!! Love the mindset and focus!
Ohhh thank you, Connor!
You wearing black and doing your hair and makeup however comfortable IS a way to express yourself!
I buy the same jeans in black, grey, white and light blue (straight fit). So versatile and easy to wear.
I love how fast you talk! I usually have to change the speed on videos because people talk so slow. Thanks for getting to the point.
I love the relationship between us and our favorite black dress 🖤✨
I love this, I’m moving towards this . The older I get I’m getting tired of picking outfits
I love that you express yourself with your actual self! I don't know why, but that seems like a relevation.
Its like you have a uniform that you wear everyday, that is not a problem besides you carry it with good taste and sophistication.👍👍👍👍👍💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗
I found this inspiring.
Litetally this! You expressed it so well, thank you!!
You already express yourself through your clothes.... You are consistent. I am a new subscriber too 🙂 but a fashion gal.
I wear black often but my make up (pre children) was my way of expressing myself.
I also had lots of scarfs, ponchos, boots and flats. I also do my hair differently. My husband hates that I wear the same dress for every event. I don't care.
He himself probably wears the same suit to every event!
I’ve just come across your channel and love that you trialled out this concept! Love finding fellow TH-camrs to inspire me and devour their content 💕
At uni I would rotate two pairs of shoes, two jackets and three pairs of jeans, I basically unintentionally made a capsule wardrobe before I knew what it was and I always got compliments on my style.
I love the idea to avoid fast fashion, people pleasing and that less is more when you purchase high quality classic clothing that you love.
I think doing this though would be pretty fun in a way so I think I'll try it
I’m proud of you. I did the same thing. Consumerism was killing my finances and mental health.
I like the black. With black you absorb everything. You look fantastic. 👍👍
I feel like this is a good strategy to resist against the urge to buy new clothes.
This channel is a breath of fresh air for adhd. Lean into your strengths, work with your weaknesses, don't just try harder to be neurotypical. She never says ADHD but it's one of the best ADHD channels.
@@DeniseSkidmore I guess you mean neurotypical and yes, absolutely agree. But being told that you're wrong the way you are different, maybe not even directly, I feel it's very hard to see how prejudiced one can be toward oneself. to not see the obvious solution. I loved that about some of her content, I would've never considered these so called weaknesses my strengths.
@@finishthis.project I blame autocorrect. :)
Wow this is crazy 😂 you're telling me that you went full cartoon for one month and no one noticed!? I wish I could. My mom would notice it right away and start telling me to stop. And I'm weak as hell and I can't say no to my mom.
😆 I would totally notice also
You can, actually. It is your body and you choose the clothes you want it to be in, not your mother. She is being way overbearing and not respecting your boundaries.
I LOVE IT ,,FOOL CARTON”
I would have definitely noticed!! I just can't believe it (you are very attractive and you have awesome red hair)!!! Love it!!!!
In fact, some days I go to bed with the joyful curiosity of “what will I wear tomorrow?” 😃
As an aside, this 70’s child hasn’t owned a pair of blue jeans since at least 30 years ago.
I love to hear your talking, I hope I can speak English fluently like you 😊
Your words count and speed is wild! wow!
My coworkers would have noticed and commented about that everyday from day two to day thirty and my girlfriends would have asked if I am depressed again.
I love the lessons learnt for this. Some of the more personal points you reflected on really resonated. I appreciate the video!
You are so gorgeous. I love wearing black too and looking into minimalism. U have inspired me to just 'Keep calm and wear black' 😁😎
I really enjoyed watching this! I feel like we have a huge issue with overconsumption so this is such great challenge and reflection.
After watching you, I have started wearing black. Life is quite easy. Love to see your vlogs
You are stunning and such a lovely person with a beautiful personality!!!
I’ve been wanting a woman’s perspective on doing something like this!
What a lovely idea, I'd be into that. I do wear super bright colours all the time, so I'm interested to see if more people would notice.
hmmmm so i talked myself out of buying the same top 3 times recently and you just gave me the perfect explanation why i almost instantly regretted it have been wanting to go back and see if the other two are still available. i guess it was a conflict betwen the fact that i actually love fashion a lot but also have a lot of body image issues so getting all three shirts seemed kind of like giving up on being the rebel fashionista i want to be/actually am deep inside. you just helped me redefine that to investing into a treasured staple (i'm SO in love with the one i did buy, have been wearing it for days now) being the truly rebellious fashionista thing, instead of running after some stereoypical ideal of novelty. also, owning the same item multiple times might very well inspire me to try out some diy projects on them ^^
This is my second video of yours and I have started feeling you are awesome. Stay blessed.
ah thank youu!
I like how this was like sort of a spin on the classic styling one dress in… ways
I kinda "accidentally" did something similar last winter. It was so cold, that I only wore the same two black sweaters on rotation. That made me very depressed and I started to long for something more colorful. I still like black, its so easy to wear, but if I don't mix it up, it drags down my mood.
Same!!!
This video really makes me want to try it out 😅
Problem with this for me would be that the weather changes everyday where I live
