    Thanks for that in depth review. As you've had the sx4 for several years, you clearly have a lot of experience with it. I understand the 'loose' charging handle issue has been addressed. I currently have a Browning maxus, and i'm considering the sx4.

      There is so many good shotguns outthere now at reasonable prices sx4 is one of them. Good luck with the search. Hopefully you are able to get one that fits great and works better.

      I picked up the sx4 recently, after a long wait for delivery. I put a couple of spacers in the stock, for a better fit. I had a maxus with a 3.5 inch chamber, i didnt neeed it. the 3inch chamber in the sx4 is just fine. @@catchinnfetchin9412

    I love this gun as it makes a great shotgun for deer & pheasant hunting along with occasional trap shooting. My recent interests are now in turkey hunting. Would this gun be sufficient for turkey hunting? I know there are many "turkey hunting shotguns" out there, but I don't really have the budget to buy another gun in the near future. Any comments on this inquiry would be greatly appreciated.

      shot type and choke tube are the only two other things I would worry about if you already have the shotgun you like to use.

  • @jeffreylocke8808

    To keep water from collecting in the butt stock you can drill a small drainage hole underneath the butt stock. Back near the recoil pad. It keeps the steel return rod in the butt stock from rusting so badly.

    • @catchinnfetchin9412
      @catchinnfetchin9412  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That is so smart. I don't know why they don't come from the factory like that.

    • @jeffreylocke8808
      @jeffreylocke8808 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Moss berg shotgun design has that so I picked it up as an idea. Keeping the rod in butt stock oiled also helps prevent rust. I suppose you could also get it cera-joyed to keep it from getting rusted if gotten wet in the butt stock.

    I’m looking at buying and 20ga waterfowl SX4 for my wife. I’ve got an SX2 and it’s been amazing. I however have seen you need to watch out for the pattern being high left (same as the SBE3). Any issue or knowledge of this?

    • @catchinnfetchin9412
      @catchinnfetchin9412  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The pattern for me at 25 yards was very center and 50/50 for point aim and the shot placement of pellets on target. The fit is the biggest challenge.

    • @catchinnfetchin9412
      @catchinnfetchin9412  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I also have the affinity 3.5 my shot placement on papper was off when I got it. It was shooting very high. but with following factory instructions and switching out some shims its crazy accurate.

      Franchi Affinity 3.5 is my go to but still love the sx4. I just kick my self for getting it in 26inc barrel. 26 inc barrel is great for up land. I even used it for deer hunting with slugs and buck shot, but I personally like a 28inc barrel for duck hunting. Hope this helps. Happy Hunting.

      The Franchise Affinity Elite in 3.5 inch capability is a great pick. It is very reliable but the Retay Air King is a better design with inertia plus and two second trigger guard and trigger release. And it has an all aluminum trigger guard and fore end grip cap.

      @catchinnfetchin9412  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jeffreylocke8808 Retay definitely has some amazing engineering. I just couldn't put the affinity down. I loved how it fit. But I did have to change the stock shims to get my point of aim and point of impact to equal one another. First shotgun I have ever had to do that to. Fingers crossed it works well in the field/marsh this coming season.

    • @catchinnfetchin9412
      @catchinnfetchin9412  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I own them both and they both great. I got my Sx4 in 3 inc and 26 inc barrel. At the time I was doing more up land but as I shifted to more waterfowl hunting I found my self wanting the 28inc barrel and 3.5 inc chamber and so I got the affinity. Both are great and I still use each one. The affinity you get a bit more adjustments to get it more custom to you but both are solid options. Also if you want to put a scope on it for turkey hunting the affinity has per drilled mounts for a scope rail.
