It's nice to see how the page owner gets really involved with the car so he can speak about it thoroughly in the intro, like saying the tailgate is from the Seat Arosa, and even why the owner went with it. Shows input and passion. Makes it 5x more fun to watch.
Not only the car is beautiful and wholesome, but the backstory of your dad makes it a hundred times more special. My condolences to your family , pretty sure your father is smiling from up there seeing this beast you built 👏🏻
I’ve owned about a dozen vws. Some over 300bhp. The 1 litre Lupo I had for a few years as a daily was my favourite of all of them. Love lupos and this is the ultimate version of one.
i have a 1999 1.4 lupo and its amazing, i love the little thing, goes around corners like its on rails, its slammed on coilovers and it has 165 60 14s on 14x6j wheels, im keeping this car forever, hopefully someday it will have a 1.8t BAM engine and have about as much power as this
People here in Greece used to swap 1.8t 20v engines in those like 15-20 years ago we had 2 of those in the dragster championship too and one had over 500hp!
I think the brakes feel like that due to the fluid capacity difference in large 6/4 piston calipers VS the fluid capacity of the probably stock brake master cylinder. It would seem with a larger master cylinder, that there's probably a lot more brake potential to be had.
Owner here. 100% correct but havent been able to find a fitting upgrade keeping ABS. GTI has a 23mm cylinder same as the faster Golf Mk4's. So it holds. And has enough capability. The pedal just needs to get used too. Cant do that in 10 minutes 😉
I have same brake upgrade on the cupra you stole the engine from and it feels like stock pedal feel with the cupra master cylinder. For the mk5 platform it's best to have the cupra\gold R master cylinder if you don't wanna shell out for the rs3 cylinder
Backstory heartwarming, especially that his Father managed to have a ride in it. Love the attention to detail, especially the air intake "eyes"! Head cam (?) works well, can see all inputs, door mirrors etc. I'd have to turn down the blow off valve!
Digging the Lupo very much. Proper build. Side note for the driver @ 8:19 and @14:38 ... if its that hot, you could have put the ventilation switch on 1 or 2, get some more outside air in, instead of leaving it at 0. Thumbs up and keep 'em coming
I like how most of the BMW and Mercedes, Audi drivers think they are privileged because they drive expensive car. The thing that happened to you happens to me really often.
I think that had nothing to do with the car they were driving or feeling privileged - they just have dangerously horrible driving and spatial awareness.
Honestly I've never seen a VW Lupo fully built like this so crazy, still the owner has to make some adjustments but overall it is a win, I'd like to see a test drive on the Nurburgring!
Love it... I can also understand the effort of this built, because my mother has passed away and I have now inherited her 1998 MX-5 that I gave her back then to ther 60th brithday...
You can't be a perfectionist and not replace the old raggedy license plates with new style license plates with embossed lettering (about 40-50 euro). They do wonders for any car. The rest of the Lupo looks awesome, great work 🙇♂
Nice horse drive by, really like your attention about all the things around you. I own a Polo WRC with the (same?) EA113. It goes like the Lupo up to 250 (a little bit slower), but i thought the Lupo would go much faster (less weight and more Power). Perhaps there is something to tune to get the optimal result out of this nice Engine.
Yes your correct. Werent done tuning yet after new upgrades. Soon dyno tune. The weight might surprise you....1240Kg. With engine....full Cage....big brakes....coolers...MK6 interior including the "heavy as F*ck" rear seat 😂
I really wish they would still build cars like this nowadays. I really want a angry hot hatch like this with PROPER and LOUD sound. The GTi's they build today are too quiet and they lack soul. I want this.
Really a quality build and obviously a passion project, but I do have a question: if you're putting in a full race cage which makes the back seats unusable, why keep them? Not hating at all, it just seems a bit odd to me - surely losing the back seats and their weight can only be a good thing? Thanks for sharing this one guys.
I love the look between performance and luxury. The Golf 6 edition 35 is quit rare and i love it also the Cage in front of it. I always put my bagage there when in travel . I understand what your saying but at 47 i like a little bit of comfort as well lol
its very funny to me how cars look from your POV as a taller dutch person vs me a short person. This would be a small car for me too but from your POV and crouching it looks like a clown car. Very cool car and great story.
Why have you stopped using the Vbox? That is the whole reason I and many started watching this channel. I have a Vbox and time lots of cars as its the best way to see how quick a car is. Which I thought was the point of this channel.
All there.....its just not enough 😅 did the turbo...downipe...the car itself in thar area but its still quit Hot especially when you floor it. Luckely it is often Cold in the netherlands 😉
Beautiful car but watching the speedo compared to my 290bhp golf makes me think that the polo isn't making its true power seems to take a while to go over 160km/h but a Beautiful car none the less
does anyone know why the flutter on my N20 bmw is gone? it was there when I first bought the car. it has a gfb dv+ diverter valve and the flutter slowly went away.
10.9 for now. Werent done tuning yet. Car weighs 1240Kg and shifting is difficult in high revs....all taken 10.9 is decent for now. Would like to go sub 10's but with the longer gear ratio in the gearbox so can hear in 6thgear the car doesnt have the breath to push through. And dont forget it has the aero of a brick 😂
Ray, my condolences on the loss of your father. The VW you've crafted in his memory is truly beautiful.
Thanks. Appriciate that 🙏

been mine for a few years now, and i'm halfway there with my scuffed lupo, it's so fun and cute
hope you can do something similar soon

did you put in longer gears for a higher top speed?

I miss mine so much, it was an absolute riot
That's the best project I've ever seen. So satisfying ❤
Always a pleasure to see a well-executed car, customised with care and attention to detail.
Not a car fan here but a technology lover - the motor bay looked amazing 👍
What i like - he put as much attention into safety as in power!
So, 350 hp +, Porsche brakes on a LUPO… holy f******
Great dude
What a terror ride
In a good or bad way?
@@NoLivewithoutMusicFor me in a good way. What a car!

this build is insane
Volkswagen has a lot of tuning potential
My favorite mod is the passenger side rear view mirror
Balanced and powerful. Should come like that as a track package 💯❤
I admire everything you‘ve done sir!! Very well done Tuning and Modification!!!! And also that you didn‘t scare the Horsies😃

Fantastic. Amazingly well done
With fire suppression too.
Looks very well put together. Fair play to the owner.
Looks as though the Master cylinder is too small for the bigger front brake calipers.
Thanks and correct on the master Cylinder. Havent been able to find a fitting upgrade wich still keeps ABS.
Would love it if Ray took it around the Nurburgring with Micha!
