I love Deichkind. You listened to their more recent music so far.
If you want to hear some more "classic" tracks from them I recommend "Remmidemmi" , "Limit" , "Bon Voyage" , "Bück dich hoch" and "Arbeit Nervt".
Basically all their music is great, but those were very popular in their time and are regarded as absolute Deichkind classics.
They started out in the late 90s as a more classic Hip Hop crew, but with the second album came a heavy influence of electronic music and from that album on the stayed innovative.
Hamburg fi hamburg fa hamburg Fachjargon. Und nich so Wischiwaschi wie im - Waschsalon
Watch a live performance by Deichkind. You will see they are as crazy on stage as in their videos.
Lars Eidinger (actor and friend), Linda Zervakis (tagesschau), Henry Maske (Boxer), Katja Ebstein+ Nina Hagen (singers), Rezo (TH-camr), Mark Foster (singer) are the famous ones.
Also their friends Das Bo and Joey Bargeld (Joel Mosner) are also in the video.
If you want to see more of Lars Eidinger, please watch Deichkind "Keine Party". 😉
And also to mention: Katja Ebstein is a reference to an old song of Deichkind (Remmidemmi)😁
@@Transmodulatorthey also quote themselves when saying „(wer sagt denn, dass) impulsive Menschen keine Grenzen kennen“ - a line from their song „Remmidemmi“ (also worth reacting to 😉).
Always liked their own quotes returning in other songs.
"Dinge" by Deichkind, also a nice jam, translates well and a very cool music video.
There is a simple reason I haven't seen mentioned in the comments: this songs works so well in German but not so much with an english translation, because of the double meaning of das/dass in German.
"Wer sagt denn das?" --> Who says that, mainly in the chorus. They actually answer their own question in one of their stanzas (?). The press, the pope etc.
"Wer sagt denn, dass [...]?" --> Who says that [XY] isn't so/ isn't true, like with the Nina Hagen line.
Not sure if it really brings the concept across, but it makes the song work so well in German in my eyes :D
Wer sagt denn das?" by Deichkind is one of those songs that feels completely absurd at first but actually hits deep. The title translates to "Who says that?" - and that’s exactly the point. They’re questioning everything: media, politics, society, all the so-called "truths" we just accept without thinking. The lyrics throw cliché after cliché at you, only to challenge them right away. It’s ironic, playful, and full of contradictions - just like the world we live in.
And the video? Pure chaos. A guy getting buried in spaghetti, people trapped in hamster wheels, weird dystopian office settings - it’s like a surrealist meme compilation, but every scene actually means something. Consumerism, capitalism, information overload - it’s all in there, wrapped in Deichkind’s signature madness.
They deliver since 1997 and every time its just fucking awesome. Over the time they changed a lot but unlike other bands where you just want them to play the old hits with Deichkind you cant get enough of the new stuff too. Everytime they manage to make your brain tingle in a different spot
"Finally they got the question to all answers" is the correct translation of that part at the end ;)
I really love your enthusiasm and I really hope, that you gonna see them live. I saw them twice and this were the best shows I've ever seen. They are really something special
The line with the Chinese is a hint to the german song “Drei Chinesen mit dem Kontrabass."
You need to see them live. This is Art.
I try to translate the 3 chinese song: " 3 chinese with a kontrabass siting on the corner and talking about Things, the police came and shout"what ist this" 3 chineses with a kontrabass" It's a song for little childs with a massive rascist undertone.
I love that song and the video. Thank you for sharing it!
The people are well known in Germany. Most are actors and actresses. The first one ist Lars Eidinger.
Didn't I even see Rezo somewhere? That guy with the blue hairdo
Yes, you're right. Someone has written all the persons names in his comment, by the way. I didn't known all names.
One of my favorite lines was translated the wrong way around:
"Endlich haben sie die Frage auf alle Antworten gehabt - Wer sagt denn das?"
"Finally they got the question for all the answers - Who says that?"
Fact
hey I'm pretty new to the channel, but I still wanted to say how much I love your reactions. You do it in such a nice and authentic way that rarely people do... so just love to you😊
Deichkind are originally from Hamburg, I think. They are mixing a lot of different artistic methods in their videos and shows. And often there are a lot of hints to other videos or movies. Here it is Matrix. In the video "Denken Sie groß" there is a reference to the video "Black and white" from Michael Jackson (the little boy who creates the video). "Wer sagt denn das?" is a very political song. The main message is: Think for yourself! Don't just believe what someone says (doesn't matter who the person is).
"Three Chinese with a contrabass" is a famous children's song in Germany. Basically it is the same text over and over again, but the vowels are replaced with each repetition. First you sing it normal, then all vowels are "a"s, then all vowels are "e"s, then "i"s, then "o"s, then "u"s, then "ei"s, sometimes you even get to the German umlauts ä, ö and ü.
I especially liked the version from Fettes Brot: Drei Hamburger mit nem Monsterbass :D
If you ever get the Chance, you've to visit a concert from them. Deichkind is live soooooooo awesome, very creative and also crazy as hell but in a very good way 😊Trust me totally worth it❤
I second that
THX 4 U Reaction!
You really MUST watch and talk about „Denken Sie groß“ by Deichkind. The Song and Video are amaaazing!
I saw them live and their show is also an absolute audio visual banger. Try to find some snippets on yt.
Deichkind wer sagt denn das means who says that. this band is fire in any sound they made.
if you want a Deichkind blast from the past: Bon Voyage
Their Live-Shows are also visually Out of this World.
Saw them last Year and it was a really great Show.
Btw. I'm not into Electronic Music or HipHop. Usually i'm a Guitar Guy. But these are just pure Artists and their Music always has a Message for the Open Minded.
That makes me respect them more than most others i heard outside of my Bubble 😅.
Thanks for sharing your Thoughts and Opinion about this Song and Video.
Greets from Germany 😎🤘🏻
This is a nice simple catchy song. At the same time a nice piece to interpret into oblivion. My interpretation is: it's about flood of digital and analog gossip. The mess of trying to have an idea of what is true and what isn't about every little and big thing someone heard or read somewhere sometime probably. To an absurd degree. the three contrabass with three chineses is a simple old german "song" where you replace all vowels with the same vowels. over thinking the source and accuracy of the story behind a speech exercise might show how absurd this hunt for truth has gotten in digital and analog gossip
You need to hear Limit from Deichkind. Its an older song but 1 of my favs still today!
Yes, please! Completely different to something like this, but the first video with visual overload :D and really good rhyming techniques
You are absolutely right my friend, these are well-known people in Germany.
I love Deichkind ❤🎉
1:17 Linda Zervakis. Speaker of the "Tagesschau", a BBC like everyday news format.
1:22 Henry Maske, German midweight boxer in the 90s or so.
1:55 I know her face, but I cannot recall who it is. I think an actress.
2:06 Rezo, one of the most successful German youtubers, known for his blue hair and destroying the conservative party(you should react to it, if you find translation)
Check out Deichkinds song "Fachjargon". That one goes way back to their roots
Since youve enjoyed Seeed/ Peter Fox and Deichkind you might want to check out literally any song from Aligathoa, hes kind of got the same vibe going on, thou he is another level when it comes to linguistics. There might be problems translating his songs so it makes sense but maybe youll find a good translation on him. I
cant say much about all the peoples faces from the video, I myself just knew two of them, one is a German TH-camr and one was Mark Forster a German singer. Therefore the others might be famous people as well.
The contrabass with the three Chinese relates to a German song for childrens speech development, although it is a bit outdated.
Its goes: "Drei Chinesen mit dem Kontrabass, saßen auf der Straße und erzählten sich was. Da kam die Polizei, ja was ist denn das? Drei Chinesen mit dem Kontrabass" and with each Repetition you will switch the vowels around:
"Dra Chanasa..." "Dro Chonoso".... "Dri Chinisi" you geht it
The Translation to the song is basically"Three Chinese with a contrabass, sit in the streets and tell eachother stuff. There comes the police, whats going on here? Three Chinese with a contrabass."
Oh yes! Aligathoa ist soooo gut!
@@theo_retischX Word! And the thing with Alligatoah: he always has a hand in the producing of his own videos; the first he even did himself.
My favorite btw is "Teufelskreis", for the meaning, and the storytelling with playmobil(!)
looks like all your questions have already been answered. Deichkind are crazy geniuses in a positive sense. I have a few suggestions that I would be happy if you would listen to. Pöbel MC "Betonasche", Waving The Guns - "Perlen vor die Säue" (both artists from "my" city, so it would be even better) and finally Death Grips - "Guillotine". Many greetings from northern Germany.
Bon voyage from deichkind, this is the first big entrance in the music
Your reactions stand out so pleasantly from the dozens of others, you really put effort into them instead of just following others.
Stay just the way you are.
If you want to have a bit of fun with Deichkind, check out “Bon Voyage” and “Limit”, which are two of their earlier works.
Unbelievable that you can enjoy this as much as we do without german skills to get what this is about at first listening. Deichkind are genius but this is not very melodic. So the focus has to be on the lyrics, but with no understanding 🤔
Love your reactions.
Greetings from Berlin 😎

Kommentiert hier drunter, eurer Meinung nach, noch fehlende Lieder!
Ich kann hier unmöglich alles alleine aufzählen…
The first lines are a reverence to another Deichkind song "Remmidemmi (Yippie Yippie Yeah)" there they are singing about a party with those lines.
The grandparent scam is term to describe when people are trying to make elder people believe that they are their grand children and they need money urgently.
The 3 chinese with a contrabass is an old song which nowadays is quite racist, they are just singing and playing on the street and immediately the police comes just because they are chinese.
Please react to "In der Natur". It's one of my favourites
Though that is a reeeeally strange one. Bavarian Jodler as hook? ok...
Thanks, I waited a long time for this reaction 🎉❤
Please do Erfurt or Schmetterling by Team Scheiße next 🙏
You got the gist of the lyrics very well 👍
Awesome! Please do "Wutboy - Live in Berlin" by them. Performance, Energy, Crowd, all off the charts, I think you will enjoy that one :).
If you want to hear a song which is more accurate then ever whilst beeing 20 years old, listen to Fettes Brot - An Tagen wie diesen. Its schocking how relevant this song is to this day
7:56 is Nina Hagen and underneath is Mark Foster...
Deichkind isn't a Combo from Berlin
Their origins are from Hamburg wich is in the northern part of Germany where they use to have a lot of Dykes/Dikes/Embankments due to the low altitude of the surrounding land and location to the Elbe (large River wich is used for shipping to the inland of Germany to the Hamburg Port) and the baltic sea in general.
Deichkind translates basically into Dykechild.
If you like this video, I recommend the video “Dinge” by Deichkind. It’s even better.
They are from Hamburg.
The essential part of this song is not translated right… it’s not finally they got all the answers for their questions… it’s finally they got a question for all answers: who says that?
It’s about someone saying something in Germany and many people don’t want to discuss or argue with some people and only trying to get a prove from you, who said that…
3:00 those are eyeprotections for tanning beds
Wuhuuu 🎉
You have to react to "Deichkind - Bon Voyager" thats their first Song!
You have to watch „Limit“ from Deichkind.
Deichkind - auch im Bentley wird geweint
Linguistic note: They are using the play of words that "Who says that?" makes sense independently, but you can also start a question of the type "Who says that X is true?" with the same three words. In one case "that" is a demonstrative pronoun, in the other "that" is a relative pronoun. This play of words works in German precisely as it does in English, except that in German it's more surprising because the demonstrative pronoun is spelled "das" (as in the title) and the relative pronoun is spelled "dass" (or "daß" before the spelling reform), while being pronounced identically. So the translation unfortunately turns an attention-catching witty wordplay into an unremarkable one.
As to what the song is about: I think it's precisely about this play of words, and it's basically just the setup for the punchline:
"Endlich haben sie die Frage auf alle Antworten gehabt" -- "Finally they had the question to all answers."
Unfortunately, that website mistranslated this as "Finally they got all the answers to their questions." Which would make more sense without context, but makes no sense at all in _this_ context.
For whoever needs the joke explained: The question "Who says that?" can be made to fit all answers to all questions, not in the sense that all answers are answers to this question, but in the sense that all answers can be incorporated into this question. For instance, for the answer "Nobody ever reads the terms and conditions", we get the question "Who says that nobody ever reads the terms and conditions?"
Hey there. You should definitely watch Bon Voyage. A classic !!!
Toll, woher weißt du das?
Hat dir vielleicht jemand Bescheid gesagt?
Dechkind is a Hamburg staple group, not just Berlin has the weird ones, lol.
u should really see them live!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
One of the best voices in Germany, unfortunately somewhat controversial these days. But he can sing! Xavier Naidoo - Ich kenne nichts (Das so schön ist wie du) [Official Video].He was also a singer in the band ‘Söhne Mannheims’
wer sagt denn dass the live version with Jan Delay and Disko No. 1 doesn't rock twice as hard as the album track
thanks for your consistant uploads i hope to see you reacting to some of these
Deichkind - Natur
Deichkind - Kids in meinem Alter
Return Of Hip Hop DJ Tomekk feat KRS One, Torch, Mc Rene
Beginner - Füchse
Creutzfeld & Jakob feat. Kool Savas - Fehdehandschuh
Blumentopf - Liebe und Hass
Thanks in advance for considering them! ❤
The last line is so god damn powerful but it doesnt really translate well, I think. They enumerate stereotypes and end off with nasty ones and combat it by essentially saying "yeah people are saying this but why do you repeat it, you cannot inherit stupidity so whats your excuse?". Another song "Bück dich hoch" is also really great but idk if it translates well tbh.
If you want to see really weird music from Germany try "HGichT Tutenchamun" or anything from Rummelsnuff or Knorkator. Not as good as Deichkind but weird even for our Standarts.
You did pronounce "Wer sagt denn das?" quite well. But it is a soft 's' in "sagt". I wanted to give you an example with an English word, but I cannot recall any word. You seem to pronounce the 's' hard always. Imagine imitatiting a moscito with an 'sssss' sound. That sound goes into "sagt". ^^
"Wer sagt denn, dass..." is correctly translated to "who says, that..."
but you can do even better with "who ever claimed, that..."
Basically the song is about fake news and that you should fact check.
7:25 "Deichkind" it is in the name ("Dike kid"). They are from Hamburg, not Berlin. A bit like saying: "Is Marshall Mathers from New York? Is that a New York thing?"
Deichkind are special. In a good way.
I think the dancer are a reference to the Jabbawockeez.
I think you nailed it what s the Song about.
jacob collier audience choir. Please make a reaction to this magical music
5:00 this drone in the backround is so random lmao
Deichkind - Bon Voyage (feat. Nina MC)
Its a song about medias, social media aswell, fake news, bots, and every manipulation in the Internet... Its a bit critical🎉
The white-painted people remind me of their performance some years ago in a German Satire TV Show. It looks like a music video of its own:
th-cam.com/video/8JNk5vCZSPA/w-d-xo.html&ab_channel=ZDFMAGAZINROYALE
It's about fake news and that you should think for yourself
Not sure if you read that below the last Seed (re-)upload so I repost it here once again (for the last time ;)
-.-.-
If you’re interested in more German oldschool rap/hip-hop you might wanna check out "Fettes Brot"

I assume Deichkind are in the 50s. I have heard them for a looong time
I have a probably interesting clip. It is... edm-ish music.
Laserkraft 3D - Nein Mann - th-cam.com/video/HBjDZMJUduo/w-d-xo.html
You'll probably get a thousand suggestions from German rapers. But let's try my luck:
1. Teesy - Generation Maybe (ft. Megaloh)
2. Icke&Er - Sky ist der Himmel
3. Deichkind - Dinge
I could write right now how good these tunes are. But since I'm suggesting these tunes to you, I don't need that.
Deichkind ist Geil
Yooo❤
I hate your thumbnails with a passion. But your are kind of a nice guy. Keep on doin it. great videos.
Please, you should react to:
Antilopen Gang - Das ist alles von der Kunstfreiheit gedeckt
ja man das lied geht ab
Deichkind is from Hamburg, not Berlin. Most of Germanys Hip Hop legends are from Hamburg actually.
Deichkind - Dinge, thank me later🎉
Maybe the meaning is lost in translation because of the Word denn, which actually enforces the critical thinking or Even cynicism inside the question of who says that. I would propably say „who Even says that“ or „who actually says that“ is a Bit more precise
I can recommend DeepL for translation if youre really interested since ive always found their translations very clear especially when it comes to subtext.
They are from Hamburg😂
Great Pick 😵💫😅
Im not gonna be tired....please check out: Samy Deluxe - Requiem 🙏✌️
Deichkind come from Hamburg
To funny to see a reaction on a masterpiece of german hiphop from someone non-german....
Have you see Remmidemmi from Deichkind ??
Remmi demmi reaction!!!!!!!
well they are middle -aged men Cryptik Joe is i think 50 and Porky is 47
You pretty much got the message the lyrics lose a lot when translated and you are missing some context for a few lines but most of them are about people or institutions that are telling you loads of things but most people dont bother to verify what they say
I allways felt they were going for a doublemeening. The One you described where the "wer sagt den, dass ..." and then the questionable statement follows ( who says that->questionable statement-). But also if you look from it the other way aroung: First the statement and then the "wer sagt den das?" (questionable statemnt -> Who says that?). Which seems to be a thing people do: putting forward rediciolouse claims and when they are questioned they play the innocent one and ask Who says that?
have you checked out "Alligatoah". His videos are similarly creative
Thanks for introducing me to Deichkind. Knew the name, but no songs.
Also, look into Udo Jürgens "Griechischer Wein".
can you please react to berq: rote Flaggen?
Jep....please ❤
Translation at the end is wrong. That ruins the whole joke. It should have been translated to:
Finally they got the question to all answers --> Who says that?
th-cam.com/video/9C2cLTif4QU/w-d-xo.html
Please go and check your mic level, you're clipping quite bad
Dein Ton übersteuert irgendwie immer in den letzten Videos.
