The reason why the Pontiac caught fire was because in Pontiacs penny pinching ways, they put the iron duke i4 which is a truck motor for the S10 in it, so to make it fit they cut the oil pan and made it half as deep, so half as much oil the engine overheated and the car catches fire, so don't get one with the Iron Duke and you'll be fine
Fiero was awesome! I had the GT... the fire was only the first early year 1984... awesome car.... but just wait 3 years and save your money and buy a used C8... that car is awesome!

To be fair to the fiero- gm wouldn’t let them put a decent engine in it for fear it would obliterate the vette. Which then nobody would buy because it could be beat by a cheap car..... The good news is that damn near every engine imaginable has been put into one- so it’s pretty easy to make it the fastest car on this list.

Okay, one you left off, b20 and looking for a car he suggested, by far the slowest but still a cool looking piece of Italian "engineering", The Fiat, later Bertone X1/9. Pop up lights, 10 seconds plus to 60, handsome little angular piece with the Targa roof and rusting as they came off the ship. My father was friends with the N.E. distributor for Fiat and when I was 20 he suggested to his friend that I get one.
