I'm drawing with a wacom intous 5 tablet for smoother lines.
(it's my fist tutorial and I know there are some mistakes...lol)

This video is almost 10 years old, and I know people will come here when trying to learn how to animate. Animating isn't an easy thing. It takes a whole lot of patience and practice. No one was perfecr overnight. So never give up.

it's been 14 years, flash has been discontinued and here I am, in my room trying to learn the basics of it after i downloaded it from a sketchy site (i propably have a trojan virus on my computer now)

if the stick isn't moving you can add multiple frames with selecting the keyframe and pressing F5 so you don't have to redraw it every frame.

you need to practice on drawing the stick... At the beginning I couldn't draw sticks well as you do now. But give it some times and make alot of tests and practising.
You could also watch out for a tablet. type in google:
bamboo tablet (i have one)
but you can also animate great with a mouse, so you don't need a tablet. Just pracice :D

you might be using the pencil tool. he is using the brush tool

You probably missed a couple of the steps; draw the first stick, create the second layer, click that layer, select where in the timeline you want the animation to begin(he chose around 15 or 20), click your chosen layer again, activate the onion skin option, then bam you're animating. Use F7 to change from one completed frame to work on the next, and because of the onion option being activated, you'll get the afterimages to guide your work. It's all here man xD anyway, good luck man!
How do you automatically add layers to the 1st one while adding a new keyframe to the 2nd layer:?

Hey I have a problem. Can you make a guide on how to draw the next image for a keyframe? Because my first drawing is always differnt from the next one. So the result is there is skipping and different move happens.

Hello Spider Manatee! Go to google and search for: swivel swf to video
Click the first link and download it. You first need to make your .fla to a .swf file.. simply press CTRL + ENTER in the .FLA file and it will create .swf file wich you can convert with swivel to AVI and other video files for youtube etc.

I also started with mouse first (for like half a year).. it's not that baaad... maybe one day you'll be able to buy one.. it doesn't need to be the biiggest or the priciest.. there's not much needed for animating stickfigures..

wow when i did my first animaiton i just freaking copied it frame from frame (freaking noobish move i know) and it looked so crappy lol. i only had one layer the entire time i didnt even know how to do it. i was a freaking noob back then lol. :)

I use to draw ugly with a mouse not i'm pro with a mouse YAY!

its nice tutorial but its not fully perfect for beginners , as a beginners , i really dont know how u doing this. i can see that you are drawing for each frame but how u adding and setting for each frames. coz ur using keyboard shortcuts to set the timeline . this is the issue here, if u doing all by menu or state the keyboard shortcut keys in comment line its will be great to know more...

With flash you can use filters, effects, motion tweens, and a lot of more things.

its called Flash, but if you wanna download it its Macromedia Flash... write something like this in google ''macromedia flash player newest version download'' or try download it in sites that have downloads, do something...
my drawing from the first frame continues on to the next frame how do i make it so it doesnt copy onto later frames
so basically its the first frame duplicated onto the rest without deleting
