- Rule 1. The belief that once two Rocket League cars get stuck together bumper to bumper neither is allowed to break away without facing negative karma. Yes ,to start and then leave a Rule 1 when it is convenient for you is considered the most dishonourable action in Rocket League. There was a rule one in a snowday game I played ages ago where both players got bumped out and swapped with new players. It was the most amazing moment ever.

My personal favorite rule 1 I experienced was in a 1's game. We sat in a rule 1 while tied for about 2 minutes, only for the ball to roll slowly into my net with a minute left. I managed to score 2 goals in that minute and win, thanks rl gods.

I rule 1'd with a guy in 1s off the very first kickoff and we held it the entire game and finished it in OT. Respect to that guy.
I have a clip where I try to get the boost over the opponent while in rule 1, and it's great because it leads to a pass and we score lol. Great examples in this video! I especially love the clips where teamates steal the rule 1 by bumping their teamates, this is priceless to me haha
This is the best, most satisfying Rocket League ever created. Full of actual worthwhile clips, respect for the culture and history of this mechanic, understanding of what it means to the players. A true masterpiece.

I can't find the clip, but once it actually happened to me, that I was in a rule 1 with someone on the wall, he flipped off to the side JUST when my tm8 passed it forward, making the rulebreaker redirect into his own net. It was crazy

i love how rule 1 has transcended all ranks of rocket league as well as the different generations of players throughout the years. as an og ps player from 2015, it’s quite nice to see this rule is stell held in such strong regards by the community.

Rule 1 in rumble. Teammate swapped places with the opponent, and we held it out. Punching glove from rule 1 with teammate for a goal.
Rule 1 is holy! Unless it's 1v1 then nah breaking it is allowed unless ball is headed to goal
In 2v2 I've seen rule ones actually not be held. It's more of a thing where you hope that your teammate gets the space he needs to bonk u guys free. I've been in a rule one for 4 minutes with a 1 to 1 score board and it can get a little boring.
I'll admit if you get me into a rule 1 the only way I'm leaving it is either toxic players demoing me or if I'm on a 5+ game losing streak

I refuse to rule 1. Always respected it then I was in a 1s ranked match. Tied 2-2. We ended up in a rule 1. The ball rolled helplessly towards his net. He broke the rule 1 and saved it. He proceeded to win 3-2. I will NEVER respect a Rule 1 again.

Same team rule 1s is a variation that some follow (there's a few clips of them in this video). Traditionally though, true Rule 1s are with opponents only as they are intended to allow the match to continue with even teams.

That's a whole other discussion. For the first year or so of RL Rule 1 *was* keeping the ball up at 0 seconds. According the Devs, early pros like Kronovi, and most of the community. Things change though.

1v1 because lets just be honest unless the ball is slowly rolling towards the net its just abscenely unfun and with your teamate cause then its just a 2v0 or 1v3

I didn't want to get into it in the video, but the fact that Rule1ers have paid for full representation in RLCS and have a whole *team* named after their religion just doesn't sit right with me. I'm fine with them practising their beliefs in their own games, but that stuff needs to stay out of esports.
