  • This is the original demo tune of the Yamaha PSS-480, but I replaced the original voices with custom voices made with the digital synthesizer. I've added reverb, delay and eq and pitched down snare, kick drum and the toms a bit.
A full review will be ready soon.

Yes, my baby! I bought a Yamaha PSS-480, as well as a CS01, and also two Casio keyboards, all on eBay around 2002-maybe all from the same seller’s basement. I still use them all!

Nice rework. This song became a guilty pleasure, after I was ridiculed by my older brother for liking it. Listening to the demo song on a keyboard was the epitome of uncool, apparently. It always bugged me that it doesn't have a name, so when I made a version of it myself, I named it "Smells of PSS". You're welcome.

Your channel convinced me to try and get one of these, and i found one today for 10$ Canadian on market place! So stoked! I used to have a pss-460, but the lack of midi and limited tweaks you can make with the sliders left me wanting more. I also used to have a dx-reface but, while it sounded nice, was kind of annoying in terms of menu diving. I am already enjoying this waaay more!

I'm surprised that the tone of the built-in demo song, which is not normally possible, has been replaced! By the way, was this song composed in-house by YAMAHA? Or was it a hit song at the time?
    ...
Postscript: Thank you to everyone who responded. It's amazing that the Yamaha PSS480 demo song outputs the performance as a MIDI signal. As far as I know, demo songs usually didn't output MIDI data.

Being an owner of the bigger brother PSS-780 myself, I have only one question: How on earth did you manage to pitch down the drum sounds? Did you use a plug-in in your DAW or something? Because this is actually the only bad thing about these machines. The bass drum is missing a bottom end. The EQ on my mixer cannot even boost anything there (around 80 Hz) because the sound simply hasn't any lower frequencies that could be boosted...
