If I were you, I would have chosen the second one! Even though it’s a bit more expensive, safety is definitely most important, especially since you’re living alone. Plus, you can always buy extra storage for your clothes. The negative parts of the first house can’t be improved using money but the second one can!

Apartment 1 had built in cockroach pest control - spiders’ favorite snack ;) I think I have heard that there’s actually a specific type of large spider Japanese people want to come into their homes and hunt pests (they hunt at night); maybe that’s just in the countryside. Ps: Apartment 2 will require some excellent space saving strategies but definitely an awesome choice. Might make for some great videos: how to save space in tiny apartment (Marie Kondo style?) ❤
My pick would be number 1. Better location and the separate bath area and the walk in closest! My daughter moved about 6 yrs ago, I remember her stress level! She lives a couple hours from Tokyo, so much easier than your move. Good luck!

I feel like the convenience of the combini and other amenities and the short walk to work would save you a lot of time! This was really interesting to watch! I've seen a lot of apartment tours, but never a Japanese apartment hunting vid. So I didn't know much about the different kinds of amenities, pricing, exact size, etc. It seems like the cities in Japan have way nicer and cheaper apartments than in places like New York, lol. Oof, I definitely would've picked Apartment #2, but Apartment #1 is cheaper in the long run, so there's that. I just can't stand orange walls, haha, and Apartment #2 was suuuper nice.
if you're a light sleeper and noises outside wake you up easily, try a white noise machine if you haven't already. i thought it was keep me up at night but it's honestly been a game changer for my sleep.
Personally, I would choose apartment 2 the motorway/highway wouldn't bother me as I've lived beside one nearly all of my life so I've learned to tune out of it unless they happen to be doing major repair work cause that's another story altogether lol. Grats on the move and I'm looking forward to see what you chose in the end.

Given all the information you cited it's a tough choice. I like to open my balcony windows which makes it harder as you have to choose between visibility from the street or traffic noise (and pollution). Sound you can take care of with noise-cancelling headphones or earplugs for sleeping. (The custom made ones, not the foam bits.) Bugs are off-putting, but closets are the toughest call. If you have a platform bed with storage under it, that would help to ease that burden. But you have to store lots of things like suitcases too. I'd pick #2 for the extra amenities. If you can work toward a minimalistic style, it will be more comfortable in the long run. Personally, I would have sucked it up in your current place for a bit longer, done the commute, and moved in the off-season when I might have more choices. But that's me.

I would pick the second one. I lived in a street level studio before, curtain was always closed like you mentioned, which felt boxed in and the interior didn’t get natural lighting. The experience was rather depressing and I would not do it again.
I lived in a studio for about a year and it's just so claustrophobic for me not to have one separate room for my bed and my pile of clothes and stuff like that. I might actually put a folded futon in that walk-in closet in the first apartment and sleep there :P

I will take parament 1, due to the fact that it is not near to a Highway. I rather deal with a smaller road with less traffic than a highway with more traffic. I believe you chose apartment 2 since it more mode.
I'd say you went with #2. Apartment #1 being ground floor is a deal breaker, too many cons being on a ground floor in my book in a dense urban area. Not to mention the street noise is more apparent vs white noise effect in the 2nd.

Hello I think you chose number 2 home. As you got all the ammendment of home 2 like a place to leave your panels and auto lock and really close to where you work. Thank you for showing us what it cost and moving Dat in Toyko. I wish they had packing and removing and transport of belongings and unpacking at the end. In the UK we have to pack our own belongings and once we get to our new place we have to unpack.. I really hate that. I'm disabled I can't stand for too long. So it's sitting packing. Also I love the idea of ladies as part of toyko removals because you don't have a man putting your smalls into draws. I'd find a man unpacking my underwear creepy.

Congratulations. I have experienced once within 10minutes on foot from my workplace. Meaning that for work i got my own place like the same concept with in school dormitory. That place gave me driving ability which is thankful. I think too close one is sometimes not good eg)uncomfortable to private side of life(?!).. Anyway 2nd one does look good. Apartment prices in Tokyo are totally insane. I have a nice 3LDK in Okinawa for not quite half of what you will be paying. I did live in Tokyo 30 plus years ago and at that time my 3bdrm apartment ran something like 175,000 yen/month which, fortunatly, the company paid for.
Well, I will say, it feels like a toss up in a lot of ways. So that means I fall back on my own leanings...and I just kinda like to live in places that feel fancy so I would take the second one. Well, that and ground floor noise plus people staring in my window doesn't sound pleasant... We'll see if we think the same I suppose 😂

Apt 2 for several reasons but for me the closeness to work is #1. You will be going to work daily so the location is much better.
