    I had the Hasselblad H1 film camera and I really like that camera a lot. The image quality and sharpness of those lenses are really amazing. The 120MM is a magnificent lens. I had that Lens, the 35Mm and 50-110MM. All super sharp lenses imho. Bottom line is that all Hasselblad cameras are pretty awesome. Would love to see more film camera videos.

    Very interesting comparison in action. In my opinion film camera's are not dead. I did my first steps in photography with a film camera too and I've learned so many about the basics. And of course the look of pictures can be amazing and sometimes a little bit special. That's great! Thank you so much for this experiment, like it! 👍🙏

    Does size matter? Absolutely! Especially when it comes to...... shooting compressed RAW vs. uncompressed RAW-the size difference is no joke! 😄 But jokes aside, I was blown away by the video. That big lens really paid off, as the results were stunning! 💖 And with Daria behind the camera, it's always a guaranteed epic shoot. 🌟
    I'd love to see some night RGB light shooting, maybe a car or music band concert style photoshoot with the film camera. The grain on film just adds that perfect touch! 🎥✨ Kudos to the whole team for an incredible job! 👏

    one tip, if you are shooting with that zoom or a prime tele lens, use Pv mode on the H2D as in Hasselblad H land, that is a Program variable mode, it keeps shutter speeds reasonable for the focal length, aka for hand holding, so less motion blur. [an added automation feature, and a boon for fashion work]- it sets faster shutter speeds for 300mm lenses, than the standard 80mm or a 35 mm for eg.

    It's nice that you approach these cameras without any pompousness. I'm looking to buy X2D. You are one of the few people who uses this camera and not just talks about it. I'm very curious how AF in X2D works in your work? I know it's not a speed demon, but I wouldn't want to bother with it either. In one of the episodes you took street photography with it. Did anything come of it?

    • @mahdimanesh4221
      @mahdimanesh4221 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Used the setup on the street with 45P. This was before the face AF and worked fine. It is no speed demon so you need to plan a bit more.

    For many years I earned my living with a 500CM and later the 501CM shooting in Milan. When everything went digital I reluctantly switched to Canon digital and was never happy with the change in format. The 35mm format proportions just never worked for me and I was suddenly confronted by a mass of buttons with menu options that just got in the way.

    honestly I couldnt help but think that molecularly, the film should have more megapixels by a long shot over digital photos. i mean you're getting resolution (potentially) down to the molecule! which I dont think a CMOS chip could do, though I dont know how long the photo sensitive molecules are either. I'll have to watch this one, to find out more

    I found the comparison between film and digital is very interesting. As always in such a comparison, I like film more. I have been shooting with film for more than one year, including Pentax 645N which is a medium format 6x4.5 camera. To my mind, nothing comes close to a medium format film. But now I don’t have easy access to a lab so a digital camera would be nice. Somehow, I’m a bit underwhelmed by X2D. Why you compose with an LCD? Is the viewfinder of X2D not comfortable enough? By the way, your compositions are great, especially with the film camera 😉

    Maybe do a Hasselblad vs Fuji medium format? Also I do like the colors out of the cameraman's cameras. I don't know what camera he's doing but I also like the colors from the video. I know some fashion photographers have used RED cameras a little but its a little of a pain shooting in video and then pulling a still out of the video when every second is 30 frames.

  • @andyvan5692

    at 4:46 Daria, there is a valid reason for this 'gripe', if one can term it that, the AF on the H2D is CONTRAST detect only, NOT PHASE detect, like most cameras today, and the H2D has only one focus point, in the center, so that's why the 'struggle', it isn't a fast paced device, it can only shoot 1-1.3 FPS in continuous shooting, due to its size, and the fact its a MF dslr with a leaf shutter in the lenses, so all that has to move around.

    Hi Daria, I watch all your videos, also you are so beautiful. I am testing the X2D with the new 90mm lens which can sync up to 1/4000 second outside. I am using a Nikon Trigger and Nikon flash for Off Camera Flash and have a problem that I hope you can help me solve.
    Up to 1/1000 sync speed there is no problem at 1/1600 sync speed I lose about 1 stop of flash power, at 1/4000 second sync speed I lose a lot more power if it actually works at all.
    I would appreciate your advice.

    This is the case when the model is more professional than the photographer. She knows more about film shooting than an enthusiastic girl who has picked up a film camera for the first time. The processing is also quite deplorable. By the way, Hasselblad H has excellent portrait lenses such as 150/3.5 and 100/2.2, rather than a macro lens for shooting objects. The model is no longer the youngest and her skin is strongly emphasized by this high-contrast glass.

    at 15:35 good film shots!, but a reason for this "wow" factor, the 120 mm lens!!, its an iconic Portrait/macro lens, for the H system (HCD lenses), and a leaf shutter, so has the right number of iris blades (for best bokeh performance, round, not pentagonal); and fyi, its $8K-12K in its own right, NOT with the camera, just by itself!- no wonder it knocks your socks off!!!

    I use to shoot Bronica when I was shooting weddings on film. My boss would shoot Hasselblad. The problem shooting medium format today all the film is 120 and you only get 12 shots now. Also I would keep my jacket on all day at a wedding so I always had a film back loaded and ready to swap out.

    • @murasakistudio

      I started with a Bronica SQ-A in the 1980s before switching to Hasselblad later on. Two backs were essential, but we sure did get fast changing those rolls on a shoot. I always felt a bit sorry for the guys shooting with the RB67 because it was just so big and clunky.

    Daria, its NOT 24 its only 16 shots, or 32 shots, as it is 6x4.5 cm camera system,
    in 120 Not 220 (it would be, if you had 220 roll in a hasselblad 500C\m with an A24 back mounted onto it{as that is 6x6 format}; or 32 if 220 was used in this camera back); but another note, H2D's are the last H series to allow film backs, they had to be modified (the camera body), designated H2F f for film capable, compared to a plain H2; I have a H2 & H1, the i-express back (older ccd sensor CFH) goes onto it, at 22/39/45 MP depending on version ordered, I got my H2f with the 22MP back, great digital platform, but unfortunately my version can't mount any non CFH back onto it, like my Phase One P45+ (for the H1), the film HM16-32 CAN be mounted, so is at least an "all-in-one" both film and digital.

  • @andyvan5692
    @andyvan5692 หลายเดือนก่อน

    so sorry to hear that the H2D shots didn't work, as this is a mechanical advance camera/ film back, you load, DOUBLE check the spool has got the film leader! ; if it 'slips' that's why you don't get any shots! Another quirk for this symptom is that this HM16-32 back has a CR2032 button cell on the bottom shelf INSIDE the magasine, this is ESSENTIAL, as if the power to the H2D is disconnected (aka you remove the handle),the film counter resets to zero!, so winds off as if a fresh roll was installed, wrecking the roll.
    The CR cell holds the internal magasine settings (format/asa/film count) in electronic memory, so you CAN safely depower the camera body, to charge the Li-on battery, or replace the Three CR123A cells used in the normal battery tray in the handle.

    one suggestion, why not compare a 500 c\m to this H2D camera, then you can compare the macro 120 CF lens with this HCD 120 lens, to see the differences, also, these are meant to be Complimentary tools 33x44 sensor (X2D), 6x4.5 (H2D-film) & 6x6 (500C/M-film) so you get similar results, to compliment a package of shots, depending on use case.
