After just a few days of daily practice, I've made a lot of progress. This is a new skill I look forward to honing some more. And I have you to thank for it! Wishing you all the best.

Great job! Using the skill is key to retaining it, so look for opportunities to use what you have learned so far on a daily basis. You may also want to look at my homeschooling video and resources.

    Sir Howard,
this comment is a thanks giving to you.
Your lessons were very helpful, i could learn the very basic part of the gregg shorthand and now i am able to write down words fluently save for the words which i suddenly encounter during my lectures. Although i could not be speed centered, but on the other part i am totally fine and good.
    Thankyou once again.
    With sincere thanks,
    Nishant patil
    And love from India!!!

      Dear Nishant,
How pleasing to learn of your success! May your skills continue to develop and those difficult words become fewer.

You have very good and amazing longhand penmanship and shorthand strokes. I do love Stenography (Gregg); such love which landed me to a trial court job for about 10 years already.

Stephany, I'm glad you found value in these videos. My objective was to give people a good set of basic skills and preparation to study further if they were inclined to do so. I think the existing set of videos does that, so I don't plan to create any more. After you work through the intorductory 5 lecture series and the Greghand videos, you should be able to study further on your own. You could use the Aniversary materials on my references page, or one of the later versions of Greg available in text form. However, I think most people should be able to get what they want simply by watching the videos and using the techniques to develop their own personal abbreviations to supplement the basic alphabet. No further materials required.

Just a funny thought. While watching the "y" become "w+i" I thought "That's so strange to combine two letters and make another."
Then I realized, we do that all the time, w is double u, every letter with a circle is just an o+ and l or plus a J. Even y itself looks like a u with a J attached.

I am enjoying the process. I did get confused with your use of periods in the puzzle though. You used periods instead of a small slash which indicated the use of the letter a.

Thank you very much for making these helpful videos. It may have been my eyes, you used dots instead of arrows for the full stops, which threw me off. I instead took them for “ing” and “a”.
You have nice longhand writing, it is #goals!

Pleased you’re finding these useful. You’re absolutely correct, sometimes the slanted line to indicate the end of a sentence deteriorates to a dot in my writing. Please do better than me with that.

My greghand series of videos picks up where the notetaking series ends. It has additional techniques for shortening words. Once those basic techniques are mastered, the optimal path for many people will be to focus on creating their own abbreviations. The old shorthand dictionaries and phrase books are good for ideas. They won’t have many of our modern words and phrases, but will be very useful for examples of good ways to approach developing personal abbreviations.

It's usually easiest to just write numbers in the normal manner. They're already pretty efficient.
