    Well, I’m a sailor but also a closet F1 fan! The onboard carting with F1 voiceover was epic! Nice work! 😂

    Steve, I will say that karting was great. Those Insta360 cameras make that sort of thing look amazing. Brilliant 👏👏🏎

      @@svfairisle I love the way you casually mention crossing the Atlantic from Montenegro, when first there’s the length of Mediterranean to passage. Can’t wait to enjoy those videos especially getting though Straits of Gibraltar East to West.

      Yes we had such a good sail in through the straits it’ll certainly be more tricky going out, and that just the tides, we now have the orcas to worry about. Although having said that I don’t think keel hung rudders are interesting enough for them, seems they don’t like the flappy twin spade rudders sticking out. I would say they have good taste!

    Did someone have a bit too much fun putting together the karting audio and footage? Loved “the wife’s” closing comment, I’ve heard that tone of voice many times in my own marriage. Joyful episode really put a smile on my face after a long, hard and very wet week in Blighty

    Great to see you both again (and Fair Isle of course, as well, floating!) We have had to contend with the tedium of mis-managed Bank examinations leading to bank failures, and Powell's excesses we are all convinced in U.S.A federal funds rate increases with spending vastly beyond our GDP. You see?! What fun! And now the key particulars of what is termed portentous "the great reset" One may make fun but best to know exactly as one may of what this 'reset' consists; appears grim and intrusive to many of us...who shall sink and who shall beast the surf that we're all told is approaching, and attention is required to fiscally survive! I think your tactic is the best of all for weathering what seems the international economic crises on the near horizon. What fun we anticipate!
    Cheers, I Hope Your Sailing Season Commences Well!!

    Didn’t think I would enjoy the karting bit…but I did. Amazing skill to put that together Steve! Can’t wait until you are crossing the Atlantic, having watched so many do it before. I am guessing you won’t be doing that before December? Lovely video. Thank you. ⛵️

    Hurumph!! 't'Shirts and sun in Croatia in March. It's blowing what feels like a gale in Portland (Dorset, UK south coast - not Oregon!), and temperatures so that I still need thermals on. Hope you both have a great summer ...

    Hello Steve and Jody
    Hope goes well with your “Splash Down”… and preparations towards your Atlantic crossing.
    Was wandering: Given all your solutions are “MOST ELEGANT”… did you figure out how best to prep your European-Spec’d boat --electrically speaking-- to operate in the US… or Caribbean Islands with US type elec infrastructures?

    • @svfairisle
      @svfairisle  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, Fair Isle has a Mastervolt system that detects the i/p voltage and triggers a big relay to switch in a transformer for 110v so we can plug straight into shore power wherever in theory.

    Hi Judy and Steve you are looking for lids for the handle-free pots from Tefal? I have the same including lids either from Tefal or from Jamie Oliver ... They have a cut out for the handle. I can send pictures if you like
    All the best,

    Great episode your video production is excellent. Great episode including the work on the boat. What makes you decide which varnish to use where?

    • @svfairisle
      @svfairisle  ปีที่แล้ว

      When we purchased Fair Isle she had been left for almost 2 years as her former owner had sadly died. So all the varnish had blown other than the inside of the doghouse. So because there is so much wood I knew I needed as low maintenance varnish (or no varnish) to make it something that would be sustainable. Woodskin seemed to be the best option for that and has proved to be a good decision so for (will only really know once we are in the tropics) The reason I didn't go the whole hog with the dog house as well is because I couldn't bring myself to strip perfect varnish off the interior so I preped the exterior and redid the whole thing with Epifanes. Its worked out well as I like the better finish for the doghouse & the toerails etc dont need to be super shiny on a boat like Fair Isle I think.

    • @svfairisle
      @svfairisle  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well at the moment in the Med we talk in seasons but I guess as we get into the tropics we should make sure we refer to them as series as we will stick to yearly seasons… I mean series!
