Six months in a leaky boat is an absolute classic. I was right into the Enz back in the 80's. Great Kiwi band that were huge in Australia.

'I See Red', is another banger from them, full on up tempo.

There's something magic about Split Enz. Love them so much. Australia gained so much when Tim and Neil Finn emigrated here

Oh loving that you found Split Enz! The first band I fell for. Quirky and zany but awesome. Both Tim and Neil Finn are amazing.

I just came here to say two things:
    1. Mike, your strength in reactions and your confidence is growing so fast! You’re a joy to watch. 💪
    2. Neil Finn is a wordsmith.
    Peace out all. ✌️

One of most amazing songs that few have heard. The video is tip top. First days of MTV.

My favorite song by Split Enz is Poor Boy, so haunting, reminds me of my teenage years back in the 80s., I'm 54 now, oh so long ago,

The beat gets you with Split Enz, then you listen to the deeper meaning in the lyrics.....it all grows on you........and some of their songs you need to be in the right mood. I like thoughtful lyricists, but sometimes it just isn't the right time for that song. Keep being honest Mike, its what we like about you.
Also Kiwis [New Zealanders] and Aussies, while having a rivalry, are always friendly so we don't get upset if someone mistakes one for the other. Although I think some Kiwis get get a little more miffed when everyone assumes all their best artists are from Oz...........but Lord of the Rings put the country on the map, entertainment wise, so that is changing. For a small country they punch way above their weight.

Just one of the best bands ever!!! So underrated. Tim Finn's voice is just as awesome as Neil's... So many great songs to choose from. My absolute favourite is Poor boy but I see red, dirty creature, message to my girl and the rest are amazing tracks too....

A quiet achiever Australian band with a lead singer who has a powerful voice is Chocolate Starfish. They do an amazing cover of Carly Simon’s Your So Vain and their own hit Mountain really showcases his voice. I haven’t seen any other reactors do them, so be the first

They had carols by candlelight a few years back probably about seven or eight years back, and John Farnham sang Mary's boy child with about 3 backup singers from his own band , and then sang Walk on.
Two good songs well done out in the open for Carols by Candlelight.
    Have a listen.

Split Enz had many great songs and very emotive lyrics. They turned into Crowded House who became a huge international act. Keep up the great honest reactions Mike great stuff

I feel dumb, bein an aussie, always familiar with Split Enz for decades..just thought they mucked around with spelling with enz instead of ends cos it sounds same and original. Didnt even jig that it was an nz reference for new zealand..doh!!

This song is a short gem that grows on you the more you listen to it. Try it up load without watching the video, it's magic! Neil Finn moved on to form Crowded House after Split Enz broke up and Neil's talent really blossomed.

If you love Spilt Enz and Neil Finn, you HAVE to react to the band Neil Formed when Split Enz broke up - Crowded House!!!!!

  • @howardkip99

Nice reaction though you did say this song was Split ENZ's 2nd big hit which is not true they had many other hits before this, and One step ahead was released years after I got you, and was not on the same album - True Colours" it was on the Waiata album, still a big hit but I would rate several ENZ songs as bigger and better. Perhaps they were both on a greatest hits record together.

lol, Aussies always trying to steal our stuff. You're allowed to like it, just don't pretend it's yours. Besides, there's Crowded House! We supplied the Finn brothers, and you supplied... the other two. But seriously, RIP Paul Hester. I liked that guy a lot, he was in Split Enz for a bit too apparently

@@leannemayor5755 absolutely! I hope he plays more Kiwi music because there's so much great music between us. My first cassette tape was a birthday present, INXS Kick, 1987. ☺️ Did you hear much Kiwi music growing up?

@@darkcaste I’m sure Mikey will try to do more kiwi stuff. The funny thing is I probably did but had no idea. I was 15 in 1985 living in my first flat out of home with my gay mate from work . I was a young girl and he was my idle so I listened to what he liked most or what ever night club we went to . Lol I know under age but you could get away with it back then lol . So probably more English bands I guess . My best friend of 22 yrs is a kiwi and we see each other as often as we can. She lived here around the time I was 20 getting married and having a baby . She loved one street away and we never meet until 2001 online in a chat room lol you guys have special place in my heart xoxo

@@leannemayor5755 I was just thinking of older Kiwi bands like Dragon, and just found ScoMo doing a terrible cover of April Sun in Cuba on ukelele 🤣 from just two months ago. That's the thing, they're a Kiwi band that moved to Australia to hit it big, which they did. I'd understand if Aussies don't know that Dragon was originally an Auckland band that moved to Australia. And I'd understand if ScoMo doesn't know, well, anything. Also, I just read that Todd Hunter said that the difference between Kiwi and Aussie crowds is that the Kiwis sing in tune, lol.. But that was from a decade ago, I'm sure you've improved. 🤣 But yeah, I hope you can see what I mean. When they hit it big they were a Kiwi band in Australia. Now for ScoMo to be playing one of those songs and with the host of the Today show's comments, it seems like Aussies think they and their songs have always been Australian. I know they've been based there for decades, but those songs were written in the late 70s.
