so happy you're getting a cat !! Some tips from an animal bio major: a lot of cats don't like drinking water, especially if it is still. If you feed the cat the dry food (IAMS is a good brand :D!), soak the food with some water so the cat can still get some hydration in their diet. you can also try using a "cat fountain" which moves the water and the cat is typically more interested.
Super glad you aren't declawing - it's a rather inhumane procedure with a lot of negative side effects on the cat's behalf. go kitty!! :)

@@amytobler7055 no problem! dehydration can lead to some nasty side affects with their gastrointestinal tract and their bladder. It's important to make sure that your cat is drinking - monitoring water intake also helps your veterinarian in the case of an emergency! :)

I had a cat for 8 years and had to put her down 2 weeks ago. She was 14. I, since then, have got a kitten and named her after you. My Bronwyn is such a delight and I love her so much. She is such an active, purry, and lovely kitten. She’s going to be 3 months on December 8. I love her so much. Cats bring me such joy.
Yay I love cats!!!! Didn't get to watch the hole thing yet but if you don't have a name you should name her after a disney cat or any disney character❤️❤️
You will probably want to get a couple cardboard scratching posts for your cat. Ross sells them for the best price and they sometimes have great toys and beds there for great prices too! I have clipped my cats nails fir years and they all do great! Jackson Galaxy just did a Cat Camp on his TH-cam channel that is great info. One of the vets did a tutorial on how to burrito your cat to clip their nails if needed that you might find helpful. Also, try to keep your receipts. Petsmart and Petco will let you return opened dry food if your cat doesn’t like the food if most of it is still there. I can’t wait to see this cat! 😊❤️💫
If you have a Costco membership, the Kirkland Maintenance Cat chicken and rice formula dry cat food is really good! We’ve been using it for years. The ingredients are really good and the cats really like it. We’ve noticed a lot of benefits after switching to this food. The downside is that it comes in a large bag (25lbs) and it’s initially more expensive, but it ends up being cheaper in the long run! Oh and now that I’ve seen a couple of your videos, I completely remember seeing you when I was walking through the boutique at Magic Kingdom last time I was there! You were really sweet!
So excited you decided not to declaw! Cats being declawed is the equivalent of humans getting their fingers severed at the first knuckle!!! It can be really hard for them to heal after that. Your kitty is gunna be so spoiled! As a volunteer in a cat rescue, I cannot wait for the kitten content😺😺
I'm a cat sitter so I've scooped a fair number of litter boxes, but also have my own kitties as well. A good recommendation I have is Dr. Elsey's Ultra Unscented. It works WONDERS. But if you want one that's not clay/more sustainable, World's Best Cat Litter's corn litter (the green label) works really well too :) You can get both off Chewy.com, but also at Pet Supplies Plus. Having scratching posts all over the apartment will help with the scratching as wells as trimming their nails.

Soooo excited for new lil kitty!!! I highly recommend Fresh Step Crystal Litter - it lasts much longer & absorbs urine odor. Litter Genie was a wise choice! If you are real creative you could find a fully enclosed side table or nightstand, remove the door or punch out a portion of the door (if applicable) and place a litter box inside, you could even turn it around so the opening faces the wall. This may be much cheaper than finding one already made, thrifts often have tons of side tables - just need the right style! Oh and yes, a small handheld vacuum near litter box always is very helpful! Yayyy, can’t wait! 😀😻👏👏👏

Just a tip for your kitty. My sister has a cat and there are these plastic coverings you can get to put on their nails. That way you don't have to de claw it or worry about it ripping up your things. Can't wait to meet the cat.
I have nail clippers and clip mine. She doesn’t like it, but I’m careful and works well. 🙂
From a student veterinary nurse - Thank you for deciding to not get your kitty’s nails removed... it’s horrible to see and it’s like removing their finger tips! Not sure how it’s still legal ☹️

As someone who works in vet med I would highly recommend Purina Pro Plan, Hill’s Science or Royal Canin. Iams is the next best choice for sure. If you have a male cat be sure to pay very close attention to his urinary habits! They can get stones which can cause urethral obstructions and that is deadly. A great litter option we use at our hospital is “Yesterday’s News” which will not get stuck in their paws/booty (or other areas). So excited to see this new kitty and can’t wait to find out the name and everything 😍

I have that same bow I put on a grapevine wreath and threw some cotton stems (Michael's) on each side and use it between holidays and love it. Plus being from NC, you can represent, lol :) Love all your decorating ideas!

Bron, at Pet Smart, they had a new pet parent program with free package of starter food, litter box etc with coupons if you rescued and brought adoption papers. Not sure if they still have it but worth a check

This is so exciting! My cat is literally sitting on me while I’m watching this haha. Also make sure you’re super careful with cutting his/her nails because if you accidentally cut them too short then they’ll bleed and it can be really painful for the cat so you have to be super duper careful with that and you might wanna research and read about it, which I’m sure you have already done :) anyways, everything is super cute and I am SO excited for you ❤️

Some kitty Tips ***
Blue is a very good food for cats, Iams is good too but Blue as all natural and very good for the kitty. Wet food is good for a treat but try not to give a lot of wet food it makes their teeth weak.

I’m so glad you’re not declawing. Declawing a cat is completely cruel. But if you’re getting a kitten, clipping their nails when they’re young will get them use it and it’ll be easy peasy when they get older. Also suggest getting a cat tree/scratching post to encourage them to scratch that up instead of furniture. They also sell some sticky stuff that you can put on your couch or whatever they’re scratching up so when they go to scratch it, it they don’t like how it feels and they’re less tempted to scratch their. It doesn’t damage your stuff and is removable ☺️I also highly suggest you get a little water fountain for their water. They like drinking running water. Amazon has some that aren’t super expensive. I think the one I got for my cat and for my dogs was $20.
Pro tip, line the litter box with a trash bag so it doesn’t get stuck and u are not cleaning it all the time! That way you can just grab the whole thing up when you need a full litter change

Love kittys! I just got a new Maine Coon kitten and decided to try the Tidy Cats Breeze litter system and it’s amazing!! Literally no smell! I highly recommend it! I’m a crazy pet lady and am on pet food groups on fb so if you have any questions you can check out those groups, they have been very helpful.
Cat Food Nerds of Facebook is a great group, Feline Nutrition is wet/raw food only group but they have some good information.
Please don’t declaw your cat! It’s illegal in over 21 countries and i am so shocked it’s still allowed in the US. Buy a scratching post or take other precautions around the home instead ❤️

I’m glad you will not be declawing your cat. I hate knowing that people do that to their cats. Can you imagine getting your nails ripped out, a claw is way thicker and meant to be within the anatomy of a cat.

I know you googled for the food but honestly Iams or any big brand dog/cat food brands don’t have protein as the first ingredient. There is Weruva & lotus or stella and chewy’s. Those are SO much better.

I'm rewatching vlogmas because i miss christmas. Just wondering why you would cut your cat's claws? To save your furniture? Can't see it making a difference. Also thank you for not declawing. It's illegal in most of Australia.

Where do you work?
You might wanna consider either declawing the front paws (what we always did so everything in the house didn't get tore up) or get a scratching pad/post. Idk if you've ever tried to hold your cat down for anything (especially baths or nail clippings), but it ain't easy lol.
Also, a gravity fed food/water dispenser and an automatic litter box will be a must if you ever wanna leave for a day. Didn't think I'd ever need those, but their a life saver!
Adopt dont shop when looking for a pet.
