I’m not familiar with the kern River all I know is that I’m taking my family there nov 29-Oct 2 for camping at a place called the rivernook. I’d I’ve to take my kids fishing, any advice and tips would be greatly appreciated
Unfortunately, due to the current drought conditions, fishing in the river is poor. Low water gets too warm for trout to survive. DFW hasn't stocked since the end of June. I'd recommend heading to Lake Isabella in the evening. Catfish have been biting really good 👍
Unfortunately, DFW hasn't stocked since June. Conditions (water temperature) are perfect for stocking but no new fish have been released. I'm calling DFW this week to ask why they haven't resumed stocking. I'd suggest everyone else do the same. Nothing may get done until we start complaining. The squeaky wheel gets the grease.

Have u received any info on if they are going to restock soon?
Unfortunately, I wouldn't expect to see any fish being stocked until end of February or early March.
Low water is rough on this fishery. Coming up in 2 weeks. Will head up above Fairview dam for fish
Any smallies in that area?
Smallmouth are in the river below lake Isabella all the way to Bakersfield.

@@Mr.REEP0 Sounds like a drought year for sure. With all the water this year expect the trout fishing to be excellent.
