USC has a legit QB and skill players, but that was men vs. boys in the trenches. Riley is going to have to recruit to the Big Ten better. Also, why were they throwing at Will Johnson? Did they not watch film on him? He's going to be a top 5 draft pick.
Line play was always a question mark. I could say a lot more about on that topic from developing, recruiting, etc and failures over the years til now, but I’ll spare the details. That’s been a renewed area of focus entering the conference, but realistically not going to be fixed all in this first year. Same thing with a new defensive staff. Loss, but I am still appreciating improvement from last year which was terrible. Means nothing to non-fans, but that’s how I viewed it. Expectations not too high, but i will simply enjoy seeing the new set of teams to play in this first year of conference.
I think 10-2 is very attainable and there is even a shot at 11-1. The defensive line will improve every week. Michigan’s OL was not overpowering. SC has a couple of things to clean up and I think the defense is going to be dominant at year’s end. The offense is going to get better when the OL gets better and the WRs get more consistent. I would be very disappointed with an 8-4 season.
As a long time Michigan fan the fact this wasn’t a blowout win for us is a testament to how good USC is. Your QB was getting lit up the whole first half and then after sitting in the locker room at halftime, letting the adrenaline fade, all those hits starting to register on his body, and being down big he went back out and played BETTER. How? Michigan is easily the worst possible matchup for you due to the styles of play and yet you guys managed to come back after we played the best first half possible. It’s supposed to be a snowball effect (or boa constrictor) where you slow down and we break away in the second half. Somehow you managed to do the opposite despite us executing the game plan flawlessly in the first half. Frankly most Big10 teams dont even play like Michigan does anymore. I’d say your chances of winning the Big10 are better than beating Michigan outright and yet you almost pulled it off. The take away for USC fans should be “we almost beat a team that’s specifically designed to beat our style of play on both sides of the ball and they have an elite defense. We’ll be a Natty contender in 2-3 years at most”. All you guys need is size in the trenches. When you’re smaller there it helps with pass pro and pass rush, but against a team that doesn’t drop back to pass and has an elite defense you’re kinda screwed. You should be very excited about the future of your team. There’s a chance Michigan ends up being garbage this year, but that shouldn’t take away from this game and I think youll feel the same when you basically win out. Save for MAYBE ND but only cause rivalry games can be weird.
I specifically remember looking at this schedule the end of last season thinking how difficult it would be (given USC’s own struggles) - and still could be. Looks more manageable now by comparison, and I’d like to assume all easy wins, but you can’t take any game for granted. Those could be some painful recap videos if I’m overly confident!
That was a proper welcoming to the Big10. Great game though, USC's D is vastly improved and Moss is a baller. Played with a lot of heart with all the abuse he took. I think you guys will win out regular season and lose if you play in the Big10 chip. and get a 7 or8 seed in the playoffs.. Just hoping my boys get better every week. If the D keeps gettin better, the OL, and Orji gets a semblance of a passing game look out. Go Blue, great game, instant classic, and good luck from here on out
A good number of Michigan fans here. Thank you all for watching the video.

@@Seth4192 Yes, good game. Thank you for watching and commenting.
USC is lucky to have a easy schedule this year. only other teams they play that might be a problem is Penn State and maybe Notre Dame.

USC played hard. The University of Michigan played Harder!!!
