When I saw that during the first episode my heart sank. She wasn't the best(that was her first season), but she's always been a consistent hitter and a damn good fielder.
Bam Bam was my favorite too.
BDP really missing the professor, also the fielding was bad last season, but this year ooof

I definitely found it a bit different, switching from SMB 2 to 3. I played a few exhibition games to get used to it.
Also, I noticed your team's batting skills are mostly Power, but you always use the contact swing. Maybe using power swings could help.
That's not how that works, but you're not wrong.
"Normal" everything, swings and pitches have a power rating of 60 by default. Power can go as high as 99, and in the case of power hitting, your reticle gets ever so slightly smaller power hitting, usually. Power pitching is a completely different animal, the aiming is slower, faster, jumpier, more sluggish, etc, depending on the pitch and the pitcher.
It's great to see Ulysses with his head on his shoulders again.
Col, if I may offer some advice... You're supposed to have _more_ runs than the other team at the end of the game, not fewer. It's not golf, mate.

Some serious advice though, my friend. They nerfed (or buffed, depending on your perspective) ego rating in this one, compared to SMB2.
I might consider dropping it down to 35.
I usually play SMB2 at around 65, and I'm having trouble at low fifties. The AI is much better than it was (especially pitchers and fielders), and there are far more errors for human defense.
Thanks for the game, even if you didn't sell very many hats and posters. The dynasty will live on, you just need to sign a few free agents, trim the fat, and maybe give the rookies a chance to grow.
Keep Cindi, she's a phenomenal second baseman, even if she couldn't hit the ball on a tee.
You NEED to resign a player, as far as I know. You can't have fewer players, although you could sub her out, fire her, and sign a super low cost bench player to make up some of the difference. Not my vote, but you should have the info. = )
I think Yogi Berra spoke about the best way of winning games was to score more runs than your apponent.

Offense wins games, defense wins championships . . . and games.
On a positive note, I like your decision to throw a slider running out of the zone. Using those breaking balls that start in the zone and end out of it can be very effective at getting bad contact and a lower batting average for the other team.
In real baseball, yes. That's all true.
@@iami3rian394 I've had success with it in other baseball games, as well. It does depend on the algorithms, but the fact that there's a "tension" (don't remember the exact term it used) meter indicates that the AI might make bad decisions when the stakes are higher, such as when facing a strikeout.
The first player you need to get rid of is Crampons. Not just to the bench, out of the team. Goodness knows why anyone would put such a poor player in such a key position. :)

@@SIXPACFISH contact is only an issue if you can't hit the ball. I play the pigs online. Four of their starters have less contact than Crampons. They're also the same speed.
When you bring in a pinch hitter, you need hits, not base stealing. He's no Bam Bam, and he has no business playing SS, but as one of the three players on the team who can (and should) have consistent homeruns, cutting him loose isn't the best idea.

Personally I'd say drop Zoltan, as him making confused noises as the ball just flopped on the ground in front of him was largely the reason everything. That and he's painfully slow.
As for Cindi, might be better to just move her further in the middle of the batting order. I'd say next to failure.
Colonel.. something that may help... with high contact hitters, especially since your whole team is great contact... Hitting with a power hit with them, the negative to reticle size you get from power is minimal, and will result in alot more homeruns, and hits to the wall.. You'll get more multi base hits and homers with it :D GREAT series I hope it continues long time!
I've given power hitting a good solid try and simply cannot nail the timing at all.

A brown paper bag with eye holes. When the pain gets too much, they can turn the bag so the holes are to the back of their heads.

Just reminds me of my old MMO days getting a town in an uproar after saying I had to go masticate (I was hungry; what can I say? :-D). I was in tears from cracking up until someone finally said, "It means 'to chew.'"
I love the Colonel's vocabulary.
I can't keep quiet anymore! Do you know what a forkball (aka: cut fastball) is? It's the only pitch that 'backs up'. All other breaking balls move from the pitcher's hand towards their body. Only the forkball breaks away from the body. Yet time and again, you call for your pitches (including fastballs) to break away from the body (ie: back up). And you know what those pitches do? Travel in a straight line. The problem isn't that you're calling too many curve balls, you're throwing them backwards. A breaking ball with no break is a batting practice pitch. Don't believe me? Watch the game again.
Neither my BB terminology nor my english are great. So please explain to me what is the conclusion of what you wrote? Where should a RHP aim to with his breaking balls vs LH / RH Batters? @ Colonel you can lower your pitching ego seperatly from the others. Personally I don`t think you need to lower your ego for batting.
@@rincetube the conclusion is that you want a breaking ball to move as much as possible so the 'finish' should be away from the pitcher's hand. Now, the conventional wisdom is to match pitching hand to batting. IE: have a right handed pitcher pitch to a right handed batter and vice-versa. That means the pitch will move away from the batter, making them reach for the ball. That should result in a weakly hit ground ball or a miss. Personally I like a pitch that curves towards the batter too. Those cause weak pop-flys or misses. Admittedly the latter can be managed more successfully on average by the batter than the former but I find a lot I don't like about baseball today. With the large rosters in Major League Baseball, I think managers are too quick to sub out a pitcher doing well just because the next two batters create that Lefty/Righty matchup and they won't let a pitcher throw breaking balls to a batter in such a case. I think Baseball is the most micromanaged game around. I'm old-fashioned and grew up in an age when the only 'specialist' players in baseball were closers and Designated Hitters.
I should mention no one has ever paid me even a dime to work with or for a baseball team. The mechanics of how a breaking pitch moves is pure aerodynamics. When you should throw a certain pitch is purely subjective and involves a fair amount of psychology.
Cindy had a bad day, but Zoltan is always slow...
Actually this Zoltan is faster than last season, but either he's out of position, still not fast enough, or the BDP pitching can't make hitters hit to position. Or D)...
Zoltan was considerably quicker than the Hammock at CF last season. Then again the Hammock was slower than a one-legged sloth with some heavy shopping...
@@papasmurfette007 And as I recall, Zoltan was benched because of his hitting, not his fielding. The closest any BDP got to being benched last season for poor defense was Bubblejet in the playoffs because he bobbled three hits to him, yet made all three put-outs. Meanwhile Cyndi, Veronica, and Bam Bam couldn't get to anything that wasn't hit directly at them. I don't think Zoltan's problems in these two games are speed related.
I'm sorry, but didn't Ulysses give up three runs in the early innings playing soccer in the outfield? Didn't Zoltan watch a ball fall in front of him and just stare at it like it was a dead starling? All Cyndi did was swing at pitches outside the zone thrown specifically to induce double plays and not dive properly. You better hope the answer is in the dugout because I think the problem is. That and the GM didn't sign any pitchers or anyone that can field.
This GM certainly isn't Matt Mercer.

For whatever reason, Failure isn't one of the people TH-cam chooses to unsub me from. Been here for months now with no issue.
It's almost mind blowing.
Try saving one of his videos to "watch later" as that's really the only thing I can think of that's any different than most others.

I don't have any interest in sports at all, but I'll watch this. The commentary and the goofy names are plenty entertaining for me.
What I find odd is that I've just recently been watching the Planet Coaster videos, decide to watch this today just out of curiosity and there is none other than Herr Bear! Of course, he's not in a dinosaur suit but here he is anyway.
Start the tall lady with tiny feet. Perhaps move Cindi down the line-up, and yeah, get a little more aggressive on the base paths.
Defiantly needs to be more aggressive running. It’s all a little bovine right now.
Bam Bam and Cindi used to own the infield. But that was a year ago and $12 million is a lot for a player that doesn't have her mind in the game.

Dropping the difficulty seems a solid plan, but also maybe either drop Cindi to the bench or switch the batting order a little? Last season you had Failure as the lead off batter, and dropped him down the order to take the pressure off of him. Maybe do the same for Cindi?
I have to say, i do miss seeing Bingo, Bam Bam, Tintin and Fetom :D I guess open day of this season was when i truly knew i was invested, because this series does to me what real life sport does too, in that it frustrates me seeing favourite players leave and struggling to bind with their replacements :D haha Well done on achieving that Colonel :D

One thing that annoys me about this game is the fielding. Most of the time, they're fine if you let them deal with things themselves, but then you get those lazy fly balls where they just wander around and let them drop, so I just take control of all fly balls now and make sure they freaking RUN to get under it. As far as the difficulty level goes, small steps. It seems like there's a bigger difference on the ego points now. I started on 40 and it was a bit low, so I jumped it to 45 in my second season and had a start almost exactly like yours, so I pulled it back down to 42 and the games since have been pretty tight.
According to the sports media reports bulldozer power would have performed better if they hadn't bothered to get off the team bus. And as for Cindi, she needs to feel the toe of someones boot 3 lace holes deep, And what the hell has happened to bam bam she is very conspicuous by her absence, keep this up and the team will winning the wooden spoon. I shall be writing a strongly worded letter to my representative in the house.

I'm finding this latest edition of the game tougher than the last. I'm struggling at ego 30 so kudos for taking on 40 ;) ... But I think lowering the ego at least early on til you get more familiar with this version would be prudent ... don't want to build a mountain for Bulldozer to have to climb for the rest of the season.
Still waiting for the hitting the pitcher with the ball. Just makes me laugh.

I'd say definitely open up some cap space for player development with whoever you wind up signing/releasing, there's gonna be some long haul players on your team to level up! Completely unrelated thought: I like in SMB3 that the AI games can be simulated 1 at a time so you can tell what's going on around the league better.

Terraces? A terrace is an external, raised, open, flat area in either a landscape (such as a park or garden) near a building, or as a roof terrace on a flat roof. On this side of the pond they are called bleachers, you ruddy colonizer, as in: a cheap bench seat at a sports arena, typically in an outdoor uncovered stand. Oh, wait... Yep... That describes them succinctly, I do say.

I think your biggest issue is that the ego rating in SMB3 has been revamped, and, from what Ive read, a lot of people have lowered the ego rating 15-20 points to get close to how they were performing in SMB2. So, you may have to go AT LEAST 10 to hit your "sweet spot" of 45-50 from last season.
Does the afor mentioned mustard come with ham, a lettuce leaf and two pieces of slightly curling white bread by any chance.

I don't think flogging Cindi is a good idea, first off, her speed makes her good at running and thus stealing, I am a bit "disappointed" that Cindi only plays one spot, if she just had a position that required her to run more, like further upfield, she would be of use there wouldn't she able to catch hits that others may not be able too? Then again she runs like a woman with a lion after her so try stealing with her and Failure a bit, maybe she can redeem herself in that way?
She and Failure are your fastest players, you're going to regret getting rid of either of them when you need speed in a pinch.

She plays both first and second. Second base is probably the "runniest" position aside from SS and right field.

For a runny short distance position you probably want stamina more then high speeds? I like this game just not that good at baseball hahah
