I know dats rite! Every version of SFOS gives me such an elated feeling! I'd vote it the greatest prog rock song, if asked. The Pompeii video of it made me fall deeply in love with the band, especially Gilmore, but it exemplified the mastery of each band member in short order. Glad the phenomenon of chills and tears is shared!

Pink Floyd 's signature departure from convention to deep water and distant objects in the mind. Remember, this album was recorded before the days of synthesizers; the sound effects came from their talent and genius.
Absolutely and I heard this song my first time playing no man's sky on 5 hits of acid scholastic the magic school bus and when he starts the vocals I came out I to hyper space on a space battle and my brother was in bed asleep I start tearing up and freaking out cause this part and the game went so hand in hand I was grabbing a Pepsi bottle as a thruster and I barley made it out alive but it was amazing.
this is the TRUE essence of Pink Floyd. Psychedelic trip. Can't wait to see Nick Mason's concert this month in Italy.........ALL the great PF stuff from 60's till 71. the true best PF
Roger Waters in Gdansk! I was three times on Pink Floyd's concerts in 1994 and then two times on "The Wall". Devilish "no. 6" turned out to be a beautiful Crazy Diamond! I started with Them and with Them I continue my real life. And let it stay like that!
First time I heard this I was like WTF? But now it's one of my favorite works ever. I will sooner listen to SFoS before Comfortably Numb any day. Besides this is an amazing performance. Way to go lads.
I love this whole album. I like everything Floyd did up to The Wall, and most of what they did after The Wall, but I prefer the stuff they did prior to Dark Side. It's a great album, but their earlier stuff really hits a special place in me.
I like everything up to the wall and I like division bell. But I would say they got better with dark side of the moon. Not including meddle because that albums amazing.
I brought this album with me to an introduction week in Witmarsum / Netherlands of my electrical engineering training (M.T.S. Leeuwarden) that was in 1974/1975 and it will have been a revelation for many classmates . I still think this album is exceptional and one of Pink Floyd's best albums. Ummagumma is still great. This sounds so good on my TT, volume at 12:05! Anyone recall PF vinyl was always more expensive than other bands, luckily got a copy of this back-in-the-day and still enjoy it from time-to-time 😎
This is the best version of the song. The vocals at the end, the climax, the buildup, all of it is fantastic. This gave me a false sense of hope for the rest of ummagumma lol.
Jai passé ce morceau au mariage de ma sœur en 72, et le curé m a dit c est un peu vif mais intéressant !!! J avais l album , mais mon premier amour est parti avec ! Mille regrets !!! Et encore merci à syd Barrett !!!! Et floyd de cette époque!!!
When I first heard this, I little and it frightened me. Then I grew up after the 1970s and I just think it is drug head funny. Syd Barrett was the only real drug user. I got the notion that the rest of the core band thought it was good fun.

Ppop of
Far from a Gilmour fan, he seems to make everything boring and generic. That said he did good in the early days, before waters eclipsed him.
Pompeii version is the best one
Nick Mason on drums makes an arms hurt. The repetition of motions are incredible. He’s a genius
You must be a drummer, it seems only drummers appreciate his genius.

@@terriingram6622 oh nice! Dancers have good rhythm too. I’m a guitarist so I don’t have as good rhythm as drummers.
@@Danielcamron73 my favorite bassist is Tony Levin, the Stickman. He’s got rhythm. You’re being modest

There's music, there's good music....and then, theres Pink Floyd. Imortal band. Iconic songs. Long live Pink Floyd
Rick Wright's beautiful and mournful organ chords are really take you to another place.
Yes, Wright's keyboard and Mason's percussion are the Stars of this Trip. Neither of them should ever have been in the back-ground.
Richard Wright was the master of harmonics and sound for me
David, at the end, gives me chills every time.
The history of psychedelia. This song in this live version is pure enjoyment 🎧▶🎶✨

Watching them perform it live at Pompeii is the main reason I bought the dvd. Mesmerizing.

3:22 - Syncopated Pandemonium
6:14 - Storm Signal
10:41 - Celestial Voices
This one should be upside. Let's help it.
This live version is seldom mentioned, though it's one of their greatest architectural achievements.
My introduction to psychedelics and Ummagumma one evening in the 80s changed my life forever. Now the two are inseparable..😄🙏🏽
