Fun fact: the A-10’s gun was incredibly accurate when it was first made… and was a big problem for the design. The issue was that it needed the gun to have spread in order to saturate an area from a distance, since it could “miss” if it was too accurate. Bear in mind, it was meant to primarily destroy vehicles. So the A-10’s accuracy has actually been made WORSE. Which actually makes it even more dangerous!
IRL the gun was a huge problem for the plane, It's vibration made the "beaten zone" over 30 meters wide and caused a lot of so called collateral damage. Essentially installed on the A10 it was very inaccurate and nearly caused the entire machine to be cancelled. It's main effect was psychological, as troops on the ground had a moral lift hearing that "BRRRRT" with the enemy getting a similar mortal deficit. Only use of very accurate alternative laser guided munitions (bombs and rockets), and severe limitations to cannon use and careful control stopped friendlies being killed by that cannon. But of course, in WT that doesn't matter, as even high altitude bombers using very inaccurate bombs that in reality struggled to hit a town, let alone an armoured vehicle in WT can be used as CAS.
@@iffracem It caused a huge amount of very real collateral damage, the gun was effective against light targets rather than the medium armour it had been designed for, but the A10s were banned from operating near british vehicles in the gulf war as they killed more british troops than the Iraqis did, including that one incident where two A10s convinced themselves that the bright orange coalition markings were somehow orange ATGMs which must be iraqi and then proceeded to decimate a recconnaisance platoon over several passes without waiting for identity confirmation . The gun was reliant on operating at a low ceiling and yet as the A10 was constantly getting blown up, due to being slow, low and large, was forced to operate at a higher altitude, and then identify targets by eye while diving and hoping to hit something, while having only visual FFI due to its primitive avionics, and then ignoring the visual FFI and causing friendly casualties. Its saving grace was the sheer quantity of guided munitions it could carry, but in a peer cold war gone hot conflict its just spaa food and they knew it, their life expectancy was 10 minutes.

Honestly the LAV is so much fun. The A-10 has its moments but it’s so easily killed, most of the time you get a couple missile kills but when you try to Brrt, you just get clapped by AA.
I think you are my new favorite WT TH-camr....not many game channels around that can make me bust up laughing, and none that can do it all the time. Your videos are very much a joy to watch. That and your editing is just flat impressive as Hell.
I'm always impressed by your editing, it never disappoints and just keeps on getting better. I also never really use planes, I hate CAS with a passion. The A-10 is the one plane that I can respect just because of how cool it is.
There is a CCIP gunsight for the A10 gun which shows you exactly where your rounds will land. You have to bind "Toggle Cannon Ballistic Computer" in the controls but it's way easier than the normal sight.
@@DOLLARplays It shows where your bullets will land on the ground even in 3rd person, which is incredibly useful for A10’s cannon. You can set up a hotkey to toggle on/off the ballistics computer for planes that have it to enable this function. Love your videos, can’t wait for more!

6:55, it turns out that .50cal,20mm,and 30mm are actually considered anti-material rounds due to them being able to practically pierce anything. (from cotton to anything besides bulletproof glass because only 7.62mm rounds are capable of penetrating glass).

Somebody needs to make an anime about if the Fulda Gap went hot from an A-10 pilots perspective. I'm not an A-10 revisionist, but seeing an A-10 obliterate a Soviet convoy during it's 30 second lifetime would be HEAVENLY.
You can use canon ballistic computer for the A-10 main weapon. Press Y, Waeponary, toggle cannon ballistic computer. Or, go to plane control, scroll down set your key for enable/disable canon & rocket ballistic computer.

Dollar, nice tactics, of course, but you can perform it better: 1) do not throttle down, just turn off the engine, saves your time, but effectively the same 2) do it in a simple way of 3 steps: a) fly high away from battle, waiting for targets b) when you see someone, perform a dive (so you will have excessive speed), then turn off engine and attack c) *dead by spaa or crushing into ground*

Pro tip for those who use the M163. It does have a useable tracking system but you have to be A. In crosshair view and; B. 'Have target refresh' and 'target lock' bound to two separate buttons/keys to activate it. But even then it's hit or miss as to whether it locks on and gives you a ballistic lead indicator. Personally it's just easier to eyeball it manually with the M163 than to wait for a decent lock but each to their own.
