These words are so true, we all have to move forward as children of this earth, one of my family members was killed in the troubles on his way home from work and my family felt the impact for years to come but I was never raised to be bitter, now both me and my elder brother have protestant partners and i live with her and her daughter in a protestant area, I have been welcomed here and have never once felt in danger or fear, this is the kind of thing that needs to happen for all of us to move on, if my family can do it anybody can, peace to all my Protestant and Catholic brothers and sisters and always remember regardless of what has happened in the past we are one.

@@action963 Actually there is a black and white. The law works on black and white as does pregnancy where there is no shade of grey. You are either pregnant or you are not.
He was a murderer, that much is perfectly clear, he sent people out to kill is own kind - good Irish people including a mum who he thought was a tout, a mum who was tortured so severely that she died and her body was so badly beaten that the IRA would not return her body. Tell me that wasn't "black". I dare you to try.
I'm sure you'll argue that the "white" bit was that he loved his children and I will happily argue that the dirty lying murdering bastard didn't love anyone else's children because he kept sending people out to shoot them and bomb them. Try and argue against that.
No, there is no complication for me, the man decided to take up arms against his own people, the very people that he said he was standing up for.
I hope the bastard died in agony, screaming for release and I hope it lasted for days. After all that's what he put an innocent mother through.
Want to say something about Dr Harold Shipman being a multi faceted person as plant of people thought he was a very nice man and a well loved doctor? The problem is that, live McGuinness, it was all an act to cover up the real person. Is that too complicated for you.......

TheIrishRock, you don't understand the vision that McGuinness and Adams have had for the last 20 years. And Im only talking since the Good Friday Agreement.. Sinn Fein's plan for a United Ireland is starting to pay off... The Republican Movement realised that Military action was not going to bring about a UI, so they agreed to play the long game of democracy that McGuinness and Adams suggested to them.. It was 100% the correct decision because the killing stopped on both sides and twenty years since the GFA Unionists have lost the majority vote for the first time ever.. Ordinary decent people can now see that Sinn Fein are genuine in their pursuit for an Ireland suitable for everyone.. Not just Republicans but EVERYONE..

McGuinness only became a peacemaker after 30 yrs of murder and mayhem committed by the IRA ,resulting in over 3500 deaths during the ‘Troubles ‘. John Hume and the SDLP were the real peacemakers from day one of the conflict.
It’s pathetic to see McGuinness getting the accolades for the peace process when he only committed to peaceful means when the IRA failed miserably in its goal ,to drive the Brits out of Ireland through terrorism.
As McGuinness once said , ‘ It’s the cutting edge of the IRA that will bring freedom to Ireland and not Elections ‘ .
    How wrong he was .
John Hume was a giant in Irish politics , he was the main driver of the process from Sunningdale to the GFA . Neither McGuinness nor Adams come close to Hume in stature .

Nuala Ni Dhomnaill It seems by your name that you are perhaps of black African decent who have recently come to live in the west. So....you HAVE come a long way, education AND you can read and write, 100 years ago most of you were still living in trees so stick to things you are familiar with ie. The rape and murder of innocent missionaries who had their entrails eaten while still alive by your not too distant ancestors or hacking off the limbs of anyone who opposed their will. I hope this does not insult your intelligence although I doubt if you have any, again focus on the stuff you know and leave the outside world to others. I do apologise if I have got this all wrong, I don't want to get 'bitten' ( your cannibal ancestry)

    • @rikkwakeupwesternworld9874

@Nuala Ní Dhomhnaill Nuala Ni Dhomhnaill No insult noted and believe me my intelligence is completely intact as I did remark in case I 'Got it all wrong' with an apology. However I really don't give a flying fart if it is a common Irish name or otherwise. It sounds like an obscure social disease that needs urgent medical attention but If you do happen to be Irish or have an association in any way certainly nothing to crow about. The damming reports over the last few years say it all,the rape, torture and even murder of innocent children all over Ireland at the hands of the human excrement who masquerade as RC. clergy, nuns etc. all under the noses of the population and without protest or complaint. Then a visit and pathetic apology by the Godless scab in his white robes who resides in Rome, the result, the people largely appeased. What a shameful reflection on the country and political leaders. It could be much worse, you could be American with Irish roots! This is just an 'elaborate novella' between us but I will do some 'reflecting' because this is all just conjecture. You are probably a very nice person!

    • @rikkwakeupwesternworld9874
      @rikkwakeupwesternworld9874 4 ปีที่แล้ว

@Nuala Ní Dhomhnaill Nuala Ni Dhomhnaill The Pope and all his vile minions visited Ireland with his pathetic apology and instead of there being a public outcry and large scale demonstrations of disgust, the population were APPEASED and grateful, my God who will they glorify next, Adolf Hitler, Mussolini and the worlds mass murderers! I lived and worked in the republic for 14 years and I do have knowledge on how the country operates and the religious and political situation. Unfortunately the stranglehold of the RC. church is still very prevalent and the crimes of the church excrement should never have been permitted regardless of any wholesale 'influence'! To quote a middle aged woman I worked with when I questioned her about the above, "our lovely priests would never do any of that its not true"!

He continually implies that Martin in his early years was motivated by sectarian prejudice (“he expanded the definition of us”, etc) and this is untrue and defamatory. US media always represented this as a religious conflict because it was easier to sell that story than what was actually happening. But of course people in the Bogside in the 1960s, like people in Black neighborhoods in the United States, were angry with the discriminatory practices of the law, the government, and the police - they were not engaged in some abstract religious quarrel with Protestants.

Peaceful protests were met with violence, after centuries of violence and hate. Let Bill Clinton or his wife be faced with the same circumstances as the North and they would be killing innocents quicker than we can say IRA. Thank You Martin McGuinness! Aside from the context of this speech, a funeral for someone who was involved in a very consequential event in history (the Good Friday agreement), this is a masterclass in Bill Clinton Charisma. Every word is measured for effect. It's the kind of speech that would move and turn the enemies of the man they are burying. I am sure there were people who attended this funeral who agreed to be present as a political gesture, what Clinton did here was, ensure that everyone who was present felt that they were there despite their political position. He appealed to common humanity. I'm not going to opine on whether any of this was right or wrong, I am not going to take sides. But as an independent observer I can see exactly what Clinton did here. This video should be played in every college and business school
