after watching your videos the past couple days I've come to realize that Japan seems to be much more family-oriented than America. all shopkeepers that you have found so far seem to be so cordial and nice to your kids and treat everyone with such respect. I love it. great videos man. I can't wait to go to Japan one day.

The difference is that in the west everything is about the individual, people outside your family don't matter, so people just need to have everything their way. In Japan though you're expected to behave and fit into the society as a group, everyone follows the rules and do their part to make it better for everyone. Not as selfish and egotistical as when everything is suppose to benefit the individual only.

We Asians value respect for elderly and love for family, we always try to do everything with the fam. This is why Japanese anime always has themes of the importance of familial/sibling bonds. You rarely see us put our parents in home for the elderly, it is considered shameful for us to do so, like we're abandoning them, unlike Westerners. Also we'd lose respect for you if we see you argue with your parents in public. Respect and honoring one's parents and loved ones isn't just a Confucius or Chinese thing, every Asian country has this mindset and culture. It's not only about cooperating with each other to be united like what other comments insist, it's a way to build up moral values and loyalty.

To attempt to, most likely in vain, head off a rash of comments asking why no kid hosting, this is a kind of adult perspective video on what it's like filming with kids. Don't panic, I don't plan on taking over hosting duties, I know I'm not nearly cute enough!
But, be warned, I do have a couple non-kid hosted videos that will be released on the LWIF channel coming soon. So, just remember, no one panic :-)
By the way, if you haven't already, check out Angela's version of the day at th-cam.com/video/YZAIZl5GAxw/w-d-xo.html. She organized the whole outing, so make sure to thank her for it. That's why I had the behind-the-scenes kind of idea.
It's nighttime here in Japan, so I'm going to bed. Enjoy your Sunday (or if you're in the wrong timezone, have a great Monday!)

I used to live in Tokyo (near Toyosu) from ages 9-13 , so you could say all the locations you visit are very なつかしい for me :) Thank you so much for sharing. I think some people who watch the videos TH-camrs make, take the videos for granted. It's always "This TH-camr didn't come out with a video this week, it's so easy, just put out a new video so that I can be entertained." I've not done videos for my channel yet, but I'm going to be starting soon. I really appreciate the work that goes into all these vlogs, so thank you for all you do! ^.^

I seriously love this video!! I have enjoyed all the videos by you that I've watched, but this made me smile.
I love how your kids are just themselves and that you encourage that. I love glimpses inside Japanese shops in anime and this was a billion times better bc I was seeing it through your eyes and your children's eyes.
And I SO want to visit a Japanese bakery. They always look so amazing!! I'm sure I'd gain more than a few kilos if I moved to Japan!!
Mostly, I really like and enjoy your videos and I really like your kids.
That last part sounded way less creepy in my head. 😁
My (17 year old) daughter is also a huge Youkai Watch fan, so she's about to watch this video with me for that reason alone.
Anyway, thank you for sharing your perspective, life and family with us!! I hope you keep doing it for a long time!!
    With appreciation,

Hi Greg! My name is Felix and I live in Queens Co. New York. I enjoy watching your videos in TH-cam. They are very family oriented. You all act very natural and it makes me feel as part of the family. Many are very informative and actually I have learned much about Japan and its culture. I was planning to visit Japan early next year, but with the virus still causing problems I may postpone my trip. I enjoyed 'visiting' your recent apartment with three floors. It is well organized. My daughter uses similar bin cabinets to store the kids toys and clothing etc. I have two grandchildren Deana 11 and Tino 10. It looks like your children are not too far apart in age from my grands. God bless your life and that of your family. May He protect you from all harm and keep you well and healthy. Till soon!

I'm also from Seattle, and I didn't even notice the Tully's as being weird, as they're everywhere here. Ha!

Love the simplicity of the toys! Not too expensive (I assume) but a lot of fun!

They're pretty cheap. I think the paper balloons were 100 yen for 3, and the propeller was also 100 yen.
