To say the least, Sir. I am very impressed with way the Distinguished Senator has intelligently projects the primary stance on the Ogoni people aims and socio-political objectives. This community's primary socio-economic development interests ought to be considered by all standards of human existence and an inclusive approach irrespective of time and space for the United Nigeria project.
I thought I heard about decisions being made in Abuja and then forced down to Ogoni land. If that’s the case, then those who should have been held to account would be State Governor and those senior congressional delegation at Abuja who are representing Rivers State during the said period when the settlement of 300 million dollars was disbursed .
I love listening to Ayo,she makes all Nigerian problems and inconveniences sounds so minor stylishly, like there is nothing without a solution ...😅Sending you love!❤
Madam, Ayo. May the almighty God bless you for your assertion on this issue as you are looking for the best solutions to solve the Ogoni people problems since 1993 till date. Please Sir, speak out to solve the age long problems of the Ogoni people.
Shell Petroleum Development Company paid the money under Nyesom Wike's administration. Let's ask him what he did with the money since the Ogoni people were kept in the dark. The sight of the FCT minister at that meeting was worrisome. Senator Birabi just revealed to us how the meeting was orchestrated and how he got sidelined. It's obvious the government is only doing this to go into oil production without considering the wellbeing of the Ogoni people.
That's right. Mr. Nyesom Wike, as ex-Governor of Rivers State, and Mr. Sim Fubara, as ex-Accountant General of the State and current Governor, surely know where the money is buried! Until the rift and falling-out between them, they were partners in crime in Rivers State. That is an indisputable fact.
This is the problem with Nigeria elders, they speak in parables, instead of speaking to the lay man. Speak to the press, and the government will be forced to react and do something for Ogoniland.
@melvinebere I am still trying to wrap my head around the complete lack of outrage from you about the $300M Shell Company Arbitration/Court Ruling for the Ogoni people that the Senator insinuated walked away. It was claimed in the video that the Shell Company confirmed that they honored the court ruling against the company. US$300M (or roughly NGN500B) is no small change. That money could have been used to build several new local industries/factories that would have employed the youth, and improve the productive capacities of local farmers through the purchase of farm machinery for community use. The missing money was what the Senator was at pain explaining during the interview, and the fact that no one at the meeting, not even one Chief, raised that issue with the President, the ex-Governor and the current Governor who was the State Accountant General at the time, is a huge disgrace and an embarrassment to the Ogoni community, IMO. Apparently, none of the preceding facts mattered to you more than the insinuation of Ken Saro Wiwa's name by the Senator. SMH.
You never founded Mosop. You went to the Senate because of the legacy of your father. Arise, this man doesn't have what it takes to speak for the Ogonis. Invite Ledum miite not this one.
Birabi is an elder statesman of the Ogoniland is adequately poised to represent Ogoni people. Saying they should interview Ledum Mitee is a disregard for a founding father of Ogoni people struggles. Be respectful & give honour where it is due.
You are once a Senator representing the Great Ogoni people, saying you did not know how hundreds of millions of dollars were spent and did nothing about it and can not even make the case on Arise. I don't think you should be involved in any committee representing the Ogoni people again
The Rivers South East senatorial District isn't inhabited by only the Ogonis. Though, they are the majority in the senatorial District with 5 LGAs. The other LGA's consist of a diverse ethnic group. Besides, you won't blame him. The communities where the oil are domicile calls the shot. You don't expect someone whose community doesn't produce an ounce of oil coming to decide how you spend money awarded for an oil spill in your community. It is a complicated web. As every host communities that was impacted by oil spill decides how they spend the proceeds given by Shell. And besides, it is just few communities like in Eleme and Gokana that produced oil.
@@bluekels86 Thank you for your explaining the grassroot issues in the area, I was just concern that he should be able to answer the questions answered on behalf of his people. For those of us who were touched by the way Saro Wiwa was murdered and left his people to suffer just as The President stated in his meeting with the Elders, we will love to see something done but if the Elder knew about all the Millions of Dollars in question then and no infrastructure to show for it then we are in trouble.
Bennett you can't come here and rubbish the effort of Ken Saro wiwa. What have you done as an individual for the Ogonis. We all respect your father in Ogoni land. Birabii your father is very respected in Ogoni land. You can't come here to say rubbish about Ken Saro wiwa.
In the interest of the Ogonis, please calm down. I listened to the entire interview and I did not hear the Senator say "rubbish about Ken Saro Wiwa" as you claimed above. IMO, he went out of his way not to be disrespectful to those who lost loved ones during the Ogoni crisis. What is it that you wanted him to say? I thought he represented Ogoni interest very well in the interview. FYI, I am not Ogoni.
@xoxou5388, He must not mention Ken Saro wiwa name, before you know he's referring to Ken Saro wiwa. He said quote and unquote, some people went and design flag and national anthem say they want an autonomous State. So who is he referring to??

Mr Birabi is being careful on what he says, that will not solve the problem. If you don't open up, how can a true solution be proffered?

I agree totally. Leave their oil for them.
