Off-season edition needs to get O’Neil Cruz, Stanton and Judge. Let’s see those near 120mph exit velos taken to the next level with juiced bats and balls.
I'm with you on that. Add the Polar Bear and Soto to that list. Stanton could do it but he'd have to have an injury waiver from the Yankees and that ain't likely happening. Judge, the whole internet would tune in to see that. And don't forget Juan Soto, he might obliterate that record with a 2 piece metal. Heck Shohei Ohtani might do it too...
how would he do that, the fact you think thats possibly has me dying laughing, ONE OF THEM DOENST EVEN SPEAK ENGLISH!!? use your brain before commenting
Juan Soto's home run from the 2021 HRD should be the record. There's no way they accurately measured homerun distance before statcast and all these other newer technologies.
Babe Ruth's is an estimate, and there are a few that are verified longer. Not sure why Guinness has his unverified and inaccurate hit as the record. When a world record is based on an unmeasured estimate, the record is invalid. Are you talking about his 482? Because that's not even close lol The longest verified is Joey Meyer @ 582 ft
I'm going to say no. Statcast projected distance is calculated like you might do in your physics class, where only launch angle and exit velo are taken into account. Pretty sure that the old way of measuring from home plate to location the ball landed is more accurate.
T Texas your the man brotha thank you for this event so everyone can have fun and try to break a record but close. Good jobs y'all, hitting it 500ft in itself is far.
Sim!!! You and I have a very good shot at beating that record in the right conditions! Absolutely loved the video! Keep up the good work and let's collaborate again soon!
Joey Meyer's 582 ft is the longest VERIFIED hit. Guinness recognizing the bullshit, mythical hit from Babe Ruth is disgusting and makes me question every world "record" they record. If you're going to use fairytales and guesses, then you should recognize Mantle's 734 footer.
I think the one they're referring to was in Spring Training at Al Lang Field. They were building a sidewalk a safe distance away and it landed in the concrete. It was a opposite field homerun so all of those things made it pretty interesting added to the fact that Ruth was famous for being out of shape during the offseason.
Alright so first off, no. It's not mythical bullshit. They used blueprints of the stadium (distance to center field wall was 560 feet) and the height of the ball as it passed the wall to determine the distance. They're probably within 3-5ft of the true distance on Ruth's home run at Navin Field in 1921. So I'm calling bullshit on your bullshit claim. As to the validity of Meyer's 582 foot hit, you could be right, I haven't looked into it. But don't call bullshit on stuff that you haven't even looked up.
@@Skonchin It's bullshit. I know it, you know it, they know it. Everyone knows it. Babe Ruth wouldn't even get a shot in the MLB today, because he's just not that good.
If only the record wasn’t written so poorly… not exactly fair to have to hit home runs up hill that doesn’t count for any extra distance. Hell even you or I could break this record if we went up in a helicopter and and tapped a ball to give it magnus effect and watch it go thousands of feet
I think one thing that wasn't taken into account is that the record is against a pitcher who's throwing full heat. Assuming you swung EXACTLY the same at a 75 MPH pitch and a 95 MPH pitch, you're going to hit the faster pitch further.
A lot of people aren't taking into consideration the velocity of the pitch coming in, the fact that they were hitting 500+ with pretty slow bp is impressive. (Before anyone says anything I know they were using older bats, and I know itd be somewhat difficult to have a perfect scenario with faster pitching)
Tbh I don't think there's a chance in hell that babe ruth actually hit a ball 574 on the fly. Don't get me wrong, the guy could rake, but 574 just seems like mythology that we're all just choosing to accept especially considering this was a hundred years ago and we didn't have proper tools to verify it
Well someone hit a verified 584, so it is possible to hit it that far... babe undoubtedly slugged mammoth home runs, especially with that huge bat of his and his huge windup (which wouldn't work against today's pitching). Still doubt he got 574 but he might have! We'll never know
@@conehed1138 I’ve seen pop ups in wrigley turn into home runs so I wouldn’t underestimate the effect a strong wind could have on a baseball. I’m also sure about half the mlb could break this record with a metal bat.
There is no way that 574 ft record is true. It just isn’t possible especially with the equipment they had back then. That record needs to be reconsidered.
I'm sure if you took some MLB big boys and took them up to a high elevation spot like Colorado or something, on a flat piece of land, they'd hit 600s. Great job getting 500+ with those conditions guys!
I've heard many times Mickey Mantle would hit shots around 580-over 600 feet but they didn't really have the technology back then to accurately measure home runs.

There’s a salt flat in Utah that’s high elevation where they do disc golf distance contests. You can set up where the wind is at your back. Think the disc golf disc record was like 1200 feet or something ridiculous.
You guys need a titanium bat, get a bat maker to make you a set of illegal bats just for a homerun derby. Back in the 90s they had to outlaw a series of titanium softball bats.
There's a ball diamond in Leadville, Colorado (Elevation 10,151 ft) and the area beyond the fence seems relatively flat. Maybe that should be your next attempt location? Not sure what the Guinness requirements are
What ever happed to then bat speed stat? Griffey Jr. had a 105 mph bat speed, no roids. High elevation makes the ball travel farther easier too, but nice display of bombs.
Should have atleast brought someone that could actually break it in this scenario. Probably several pros could easily but I'm sure there are guys they know and have contact with that could have done it
I don’t think they kept in mind the way the record was written. They chose arguably the worst field for this because it’s all uphill after the fence, so with the record only being farthest distance flown, having to hit uphill obviously gives the ball less time to travel. Had they hit on a field that was totally flat or even on a decline after the fence, it was entirely possible for them to do
most of the longest hr's that were hit were done w/wood bat. these guys using aluminum bats which in theory they should driving the ball extra 20-30 ft (supposedly) but idk. lot of the aluminum bats now are bbcor set which slows the exit velo a lot (for safety) vs when i played in HS. late 90's aluminum bats were great. wish i still had mine lol.
