The PS3 has soooo many good singleplayer games. I think it was the last console for suckers of singleplayer games, especiallsy outside the AAA BS. I love games I can finish in under 10 hours. They don't have to be perfect, they just have to have a soul and something unique
Yes! i miss the ps3 games (or 360) for that reason. Only play for fun, you finish the game and move on. Now all the games must be sand box, with multiple side and boring missions and online like battle royale.
@@iancruz6617 PS4 is a mixed bag for me. There are still short games like The Order and middle tier games like Hellblade and a ton of low budget JRPGs. And a ton of good indie games. Can't say that about Xbox One in my opinion. I can't even begin to describe how bad the user experience is for Xbox in my country. I expect that to get worse, also with the PS5.

Good picks. Heavenly Sword was THE game that pushed me to buy a PS3, and I absolutely LOVE Folklore - It's definitely a hidden gem that has seemingly finally started to get the attention it's always deserved as collectors and others revisit the console. It's an absolute breath of fresh air.
True! Ab-so-lut-ly! It's a "NINJA THEORY-Original". Like "Enslaved: Odyssey to the west"... "HS" has such uniqueness... lots of games DON'T have. Too sad that Ninja went to Microsoft. Even "Senua's Saga" might profit from that, in case of a huge "Workshop", that MS can offer.
I play it again and again every once in a while, for all those who missed this amazing gem. Same as Overlord I & II. Or Hunted - The Demon's Forge. The PS3 library was wild. With PS4 good games that are worth anything became more and more rare.

If i might ask, has anyone ever recommended or mentioned Kya: Dark Lineage for PS2 to you? It's like a 3D platformer but with brawler-like combat and an art direction along the lines of Rayman 2 and 3-- and there is a bunch of platforming oriented around the usage of wind and free falling and stuff. If you were to try it, i wish you a lot of fun on it!

This is a great list. I remember Rain! I didn't know what to expect, but it had that whimsical feel I hoped it would. I really enjoy games that play like games, yet the story is intrinseque to it.

DUDE THE time from 2000-2010 for ps3 games was great, devs like explored new ideas because everyone was tryna make new ips, and finally enough hardware power to realize ideas. Physics became a norm, good ass decade of changing of winds, shifting of tides, beginnings of crescendos
quality picks as usual! the ps3 has very impressive titles in it's library and my collection provides such a huge and good backlog, that it makes no sense for me to get a ps4 and ps5. to be fair, when i was a child, donkey kong arcarde machines were still common in restaurants and swimming baths, so i don't even view the 7th gen as looking ancient. my favourite ps3 game is probably söldner x2 : final prototype. wondering what it would be like to play it on a handheld itched me so much, that it made me buy a ps vita (which itself is one of my favourite things now, because to me it kept the promise that mobile gaming on phones failed to deliver).

Shadows Of The Damned seems like it was way ahead of it's time, if House Of The Dead Overkill is anything to go by, as it seems very reminiscent in terms of humour, and it's overall tone, although the gameplay is a bit different being a light gun game, but damn that game still looked good for a ps3 game!
Ah heavenly sword such a great game. That was the game I bought with the ps3 back in the day. It was so rewarding when I beat it. I won't spoil the ending for people who haven't played it. All you have to know that it's tragic 🥺
Out of these I've got: Shadows of the Damned, Blur (possibly my favorite racing game ever made), Alice Madness Returns and Folklore. Everything on this list is gold and there's still tons more great underrated games like Wet and Transformers: Fall of Cybertron. PS3 has a ton of quality games.
It is great to show some love for Syndicate, Binary Domain, and Rain as all three of them are fun games to play on the PS3. Both Syndicate and Binary Domain I got for very cheap and Rain I got it when it was a part of Playstation Plus for PS3. Heavenly Sword is not only a feast for the eyes but an amazing experience on the PS3. You definitely have to do a part 2.
Soon as this began, I thought “I’m going to pop Rain into the comments” so was delighted to see it get mentioned in this video. Recently completed it again and enjoyed it just as much second time around. Greatly atmospheric, fun to play and a wonderful soundtrack. I wish they released another set in this world as it just totally sucked me in. Also, one that didn’t get mentioned (not an exclusive) is The Cave. Great 2D platformer with various characters which changes the way you play.
Any PS2 gamer who loved Godhand will surely love Shadows Of The Damned. It's Shinji Mikami having a lot of fun and without the pressure of making a blockbuster, and it can't get any better than that. Other good, forgotten games for PS3 are: - Genji: Days of the Blade - Wet - The Shoot / Medieval Moves (ridiculously cheap and really good for PS move users) - Way Of the Samurai 3 and 4 - Fracture - Call Of Juarez: Gunslinger
I'd like to see Trinity Souls of Zill O'll added to a part 2; it's a splendid action JRPG that somehow got overlooked. I wonder if Majin and the Forsaken Kingdom would also classify as a forgotten game: it's definitely worth remembering.

I remember watching all of heavenly sword on youtube way back when the vita first came out. I got interested in it because of playstation all stars but the vita was the only playstation console I owned at the time. It was really good.
luckily a good grip of these are on ps now which I've been strictly using for the ps3 library just wish it had folklore. just bought 3d game dot heroes and I'm hooked !

Binary Domain was a unique Sega release that I enjoyed and nostalgia to the unique quality and style only sega can establish. I also had Shadows of the Damm which it was a very underrated games that suffered the lack of marketing.
Loved Asuras Wrath. It didn't get the love it deserved, imo, but it was a great play. Glad I still have my copy. Folklore too. Didn't get the best reviews if I recall and didn't sell all that well but it was an excellent game. Have a sealed copy still because it was one of very few games I rented then bought later. Alice Madness Returns is one I wanted to love but I just couldn't get into it. Perhaps I'll give it another shot sometime. overall, pretty solid list.
Shadows of the damned, Binary Domain & Alice Madness Returns are some of my favourite PS3 games mentioned on this list. Also think the likes of Katamari Forever and The Darkness 2 deserve more love!
I just wish you could disable sixaxis controls for Heavenly Sword because I always hear how good it was, but I never got passed the first shooting section due to rage quitting.
I’m glad I started collecting for the PS3 back in 2017. I have all the games in this video and Folklore in particularly are going up in price. If you want your PS3 games, now is the time to get them while we are in era where the price on GameCube games are going crazy. Next will be PS3 games.
That feeling of literally yanking souls in Folklore. You used the motion control to yank the soul out. Speaking of unique games, there was a PS2 game called Lifeline. You could play it entirely by voice commands! It even cam with a headset, though you can use your own. From the moment you turn on your PS2, that's it; you can speak to the game till the final credits. It just blew my mind. The only time voice controls were used back then was to dictate in Microsoft Word and very few people even knew that was possible. Playing the game fully and purely with just a headset felt like science fiction. P.S. My avatar is the only one I ever used on youtube and it is from one of the games mentioned. :)
I have played 3 games on your list this time, but I played Shadows Of The Damned, Lost Planet, Asura's Wrath, on my Xbox 360 before I got a PS3, I hope I don't get penalized ha ha, all 3 games were great and I want to try the ones on your list, thanks TVGS for a great list 👍
You say forgotten, I say unforgettable. Great list as always. Folklore though, don't bother if you're colorblind (edit: red/green type), progress will not be possible.
I really wish lost planet came back maybe one of these days we can get a HD port or remake I would also put vanquished and heavenly sword in that category to.
All great games. Shadows of the Damned, you get wtf weird stuff all through. Alice, a bit burton-esque, but behind the fairy tale there is a dark story to match.
ALice in Madness has a PC version sir that is where i have played it....if PS3 and PC are the same my experience is that is really good game plus the vibes is very dark and spooky rather than a fantasy which is kind of mysterious while playing like you dont know what will happen next..i like it... though my potato laptop sometimes struggles on framerate still at least i have played this game...its really good sir,,,, sadly i cant play PS3 games anymore because my unit is already YLOD... Awesome video sir!!!!...
Heavenly Sword's use of QTEs is what makes the game feel dated. That plus the haphazard shoehorning of the motion controls of the Sixaxis. Aside from those, the main combat system holds well. The combat flow just gets interrupted when a QTE sequence plays out unexpectedly, or when you need to play Twing Twang as Kai.
Hmmmm, the only games on this list I don't already have are Rain and Heavenly Sword. I'd really like the physical version released in Asia (called Lost in the Rain) with Chinese and English text, but that one's gone crazy in price and I can't justify it. I've passed up on Heavenly Sword multiple times since I never liked QT events, but I guess I'll have to break down and get it (if the price hasn't skyrocketed). I only started collecting for the PS3 less than two years ago, and I'm endlessly impressed with the game library on it compared to the Xbox 360. It's why the collecting bug bit me so hard - it's also the first console I've ever owned that didn't need some kind of hack or bypass to play imported games. It's the way all consoles should be.
Since I have so many underrated and unknown ps3 games. I am unique compared to the mainstream gamers. Alice madness returns Enchanted arm's Trinity souls Folklore Asuras wrath Katamari forever Heavenly sword Plus almost countless others. Ps3, ps4 , ps vita and switch etc. Very awesome to collect for. I'm not a call of duty kinda gamer. I like unique, obscure and often weird kinda games. My ps3 collection consists of atleast 500 games but probably a bit more. These videos look similar to my collection. Heavenly sword did borrow heavily from God of war. I keep all of my games. A few people wanted to buy a bunch of my games but they walked away empty handed and disappointed.
Folklore was really great, a bit clunky with load times, and some of the narrative elements could have been better, like more animated scenes over the comic-style ones. Wish it could get a remaster, or at least be included in Sony's upcoming PC library, so many titles need more love

Xbox 360 and ps3 was last true gen. A lot great developers left on fake gen ps4 and next next fake gen ps5 which shows a lot.

Lost Planet 1 was a great multiplayer game. The map design was brilliant. The colonies version added so much great content for MP too.
It's incredibly rare, but Afrika is a really unique PS3 game. It's one of the few games I was able to get my wife to play with me lol

Binary Domain was made by the Yakuza team. Heavenly Sword was one the best experiences I had that gen.

Alice Madness Returns also gives you the original American Magee's Alice as a download. It's a 90s pc game and it shows but nice that it was done.
American McGee's Alice was released in 2000. I played it when it was released.
I just wish you could disable sixaxis controls for Heavenly Sword because I always hear how good it was, but I never got passed the first shooting section due to rage quitting.
I’m glad I started collecting for the PS3 back in 2017. I have all the games in this video and Folklore in particularly are going up in price. If you want your PS3 games, now is the time to get them while we are in era where the price on GameCube games are going crazy. Next will be PS3 games.

That feeling of literally yanking souls in Folklore. You used the motion control to yank the soul out.
Speaking of unique games, there was a PS2 game called Lifeline. You could play it entirely by voice commands! It even cam with a headset, though you can use your own. From the moment you turn on your PS2, that's it; you can speak to the game till the final credits. It just blew my mind. The only time voice controls were used back then was to dictate in Microsoft Word and very few people even knew that was possible. Playing the game fully and purely with just a headset felt like science fiction.
P.S. My avatar is the only one I ever used on youtube and it is from one of the games mentioned. :)
I have played 3 games on your list this time, but I played Shadows Of The Damned, Lost Planet, Asura's Wrath, on my Xbox 360 before I got a PS3, I hope I don't get penalized ha ha, all 3 games were great and I want to try the ones on your list, thanks TVGS for a great list 👍

Rain is an excellent game and one of the few that I platinumed.
Mini Ninjas, Viking and Monster Madness: Grave Danger were all games that I enjoyed and would recommend to PS3 fans.

You say forgotten, I say unforgettable. Great list as always. Folklore though, don't bother if you're colorblind (edit: red/green type), progress will not be possible.
Shadows of the Damned is one of my favorite games of all time. Of course, I'm a big fan of Suda 51's games.
Asura's Wrath is a legendary game and by no means forgotten !
White Knight Chronicles its also a good underated PS3 game, I dunno thou if it have an english version, I think only the second one has

I think Lost Planet is a modern masterpiece. So is Heavenly Sword.
I really wish lost planet came back maybe one of these days we can get a HD port or remake I would also put vanquished and heavenly sword in that category to.
Lost planet wasn't forgotten...it was pretty much popular back in the day.
i remember trying the Heavenly Sword demo on a convention like back in 2007... from that day I knew i should get a PS3 and I still with it

Folklore might be an overlooked PS3 game, but to me it is quite literally my all time favorite PS3 game. It IS that good.

I recommend using a Dualsense for FPS games on PS3 as the sticks are wayy more tighter and accurate
All great games. Shadows of the Damned, you get wtf weird stuff all through. Alice, a bit burton-esque, but behind the fairy tale there is a dark story to match.
My favorites are the god of war games, heavenly sword, split second, ace combat infinity, the macross games
I would add Drakengard 3, it´s a little tedious but it has lots of charm and an interesting story.
ALice in Madness has a PC version sir that is where i have played it....if PS3 and PC are the same my experience is that is really good game plus the vibes is very dark and spooky rather than a fantasy which is kind of mysterious while playing like you dont know what will happen next..i like it... though my potato laptop sometimes struggles on framerate still at least i have played this game...its really good sir,,,, sadly i cant play PS3 games anymore because my unit is already YLOD... Awesome video sir!!!!...

Heavenly Sword's use of QTEs is what makes the game feel dated. That plus the haphazard shoehorning of the motion controls of the Sixaxis. Aside from those, the main combat system holds well. The combat flow just gets interrupted when a QTE sequence plays out unexpectedly, or when you need to play Twing Twang as Kai.
Shadows of the Damned is AMAZING! AND UNDERRATED
Most underrated console of all time! My second all time favorite, second only to the GameCube!
Toss up between GOW 3, UnCharted 2 or Red Dead Redemption although KillZone 2 was Awwweeesome! 😎

Hmmmm, the only games on this list I don't already have are Rain and Heavenly Sword. I'd really like the physical version released in Asia (called Lost in the Rain) with Chinese and English text, but that one's gone crazy in price and I can't justify it. I've passed up on Heavenly Sword multiple times since I never liked QT events, but I guess I'll have to break down and get it (if the price hasn't skyrocketed).
I only started collecting for the PS3 less than two years ago, and I'm endlessly impressed with the game library on it compared to the Xbox 360. It's why the collecting bug bit me so hard - it's also the first console I've ever owned that didn't need some kind of hack or bypass to play imported games. It's the way all consoles should be.
Since I have so many underrated and unknown ps3 games. I am unique compared to the mainstream gamers.

Plus almost countless others. Ps3, ps4 , ps vita and switch etc. Very awesome to collect for. I'm not a call of duty kinda gamer. I like unique, obscure and often weird kinda games. My ps3 collection consists of atleast 500 games but probably a bit more. These videos look similar to my collection. Heavenly sword did borrow heavily from God of war. I keep all of my games. A few people wanted to buy a bunch of my games but they walked away empty handed and disappointed.

Folklore was really great, a bit clunky with load times, and some of the narrative elements could have been better, like more animated scenes over the comic-style ones. Wish it could get a remaster, or at least be included in Sony's upcoming PC library, so many titles need more love
