In this video I play the Trotto, a medieval dance, with this newly built portative organ.
Chestnut and Spruce manual wedge bellows
28 Spruce pipes from B1 to e3
Chromatic manual in Walnut and Bostamarinde wood
Cherry wood for the frame
440 Hz tuning fork
Filmed at the castle of San Gaudenzio, Italy - เพลง
First time I can see a portative organ being played up close: it is a wonderful instrument! And I love this "Trotto" !
Thanks, I'm glad you like it!
My goodness that tuning system *does* sit well with this instrument. Simply gorgeous!
Thanks! I'm glad you like it
This portative oragan was designed to have a sound suited to medieval and renaissance music, with some concessions to the early Baroque.
Compared to my "old portative organ" it has a more Principal sound, as you can clearly hear from the final chord. In this piece it is in Pythagorean temperament.
Grandeeeeee
Grazie!
It's again all included: the setting, the music, the environment - beautiful country and performance, signore!
and (probably) not in this video: the great 🍝 and 🍷 afterwards 😉
Thank You Sir! Yes, in fact the dinner was very good but we forgot to film...😅

You're welcome. Thank you!
Very nice and beautiful as always :-)
Thanks!
this sounds great!
Thanks!
@@nippocast could you maybe do like a small thirty minute compilation of your music on the portative organ? I would definitely listen to that!
Very nice sound!
Thanks!
Excellent!, thank you. I wonder if I can apply this tune when our organ ciphers. Most often an F# :)
Thanks a lot! Ok, you can try to transpose the key to F sharp... maybe the result is interesting😆
Why did you opt for the different tuning mechanism on this organ in contrast to your previous one? Were you trying something new, or is it an easier system than the rolled up tin plates?
Hello and thanks for the comment, simply because for this portative I took inspiration from a medieval iconography, both systems are valid.
@@nippocast thank you for your reply! You're really tempting me to attempt to make my own!
Is pedal point originate in medieval dance? beautiful!
Thank you, I think the first examples of pedal points date back to the 11th and 12th century, with the advent of the first polyphonies, especially in France and England. But perhaps even before the 10th century with the first "organum" dedicated mainly to sacred music
@nippocast Thank you so much for another phenomenal portative organ video! Did you happen to receive my email? I am attempting to build a portative organ, but I have realized that it likely won't be possible for me without more detailed diagrams and instructions. Would you be willing to share any of your drawings or instructive notes that might be helpful to me? Thanks again.
Thanks! Sorry, I didn't see your email. I've decided not to share projects online or for free, also because I already show a lot with my videos. However, if you wish to have a complete project, they will be available for sale soon on my channel, within the month of September.
@nippocast Thank you, that will be such a blessing!
