- maddoxjets.com Bob Maddox Jet engine motorcycle. Bob Maddox riding his one of a kind super twin engine 200 pound thrust jet bike Harley Dragon bike,. This was the first test run on the Harley Sport Jet, the guy talking to me is my nephew Tyler Maddox, Maddox visual. My fab shop is in medford Oregon where I grew up. I was a cabinet builder and fine artist for most of my life. In 1990 I started skydiving and made around 3000 jumps over the next 20 years and began building pulsejet engine around 2000.

Part two...Once started the Pulse jet continues combustion automatically via valves etc ( unless it's valveless).Modern pulse jets are throttleable.
Pulse Jets redefine the word "LOUD" -suck fuel like you wouldn't believe...but are really fun!
Just remember Ramjets need some sort of forward air movement to run and remain running - most Pulse Jets need some air ( Compressed) to start after that they just happily run while stationary or moving.

Hey, a TV show over in the UK just put one of these engines on a off road kart, about 400 pounds with big tires and did thirty MPH in a ruff field.

Correct, he talks a lot about how how fast his builds "could" go, but never actually does any high speed runs. All for show, very little go!

@@billsmith281 well, honestly that’s why we’re here. It’s nice to see someone having fun on a lakebed or highway, he builds crazy stuff his own way. If I wanted high end team centered rocket building videos I’d watch something else but I don’t want that. I want Robert Maddox to be on a lakebed going 50 with a rocket engine he built for show. And yes I will be expecting the pirate flag too.
No, I was just doing short tests so the pipes would stay shinny, it was a build for a costumer.

I love,live and similar to you, was lucky to have been given the talents to think and be able to create all kinds mechanical/functioning art. Although I am into to so many differant things, I love engines and going fast! I just got into and built my first Pulsejet and once again, I'm instantly hooked. I plan on making many more and also to make a turbojet engine as well. THUMBS UP!!!!
Good old german design pulse engine.Made quite a few in my times over the decades.My testing ground was Area51 all the areas around the base.Mostly for radio control aircraft.Had some great fun with them.

I've been watching videos on pulse jet bikes and it really seems like a fun project.
Actually I'm thinking of putting a kite style hang glider on my 50 pound thrust bike.

Howard Murray.The engine is a Pulse jet. You are correct in that a Ramjet needs forward momentum to achieve a running state. The WW2 Germans used a steam catapult (Hydrogen peroxide based) to launch the V1 buzz bombs as the pulse jet had a low intial acceleration rate to its all up weight.So in order not to have a looong runway they just used the catapult to kick it up into the air really quickly( eg.Modern bungees).Robert Maddox uses compressed air to start his pulse jet engine.

Sounds a bit like the WWII V1 rocket which was basically a pulse jet with glider wings.
The Lennox Pulse furnace works a bit on the same principle as the pulse jet engine these furnaces do not rely on a flue stack for draft neither on a exhaust fan but use the pulse pressure to evacuate the combustion gases out trough a elaborate heat exchanger to deliver 90percent plus efficiency the exhaust is cool enough to go out in plastic pipes,,,, I have one of these pulse furnaces

Fair enough. For the record, I do think it's a pretty amazing project. And ... yeah, I agree about it as compared to most videos on You Tube. It would be better if it hooked me with the performance and then went into the details, that's all I'm suggesting.

Well, it didn't help that the Germans started the policy of bombing houses of workers instead of factories. Go look into what they did to Coventry in the early part of the blitz, as well as the incendiary bombing of London. They were dropping thermite grenades all over the city for several waves of attacks over several months. And the Americans didn't bomb Dresden, that was the Brits paying back for the blitz. The Americans did provide escort protection. Yeah, the Germans started a war and they lost, and a lot of other people lost,too. No sympathy for the nazis from Me, sorry. Have gotten to know a few survivors of their war, and the stories weren't pretty. Don't go playing that the V1 and V2 were some defense weapon either, they were terror weapons and that's how Hitler wanted it.
