I'm from the south, and I have always fried my cabbage with a little bacon grease, bacon pieces, and then I put water and stem it until done. I guess there is several different ways of doing it. thanks for sharing
Love it!! Little tip... To be safe I fold a dish towel and put it under my cutting board to keep it in place... Thank you so much for vid and delicious recipe!!:)
My grandmother used to make this all the time. I never tried because I assumed it would be more than I can handle in the kitchen (I'm getting better, though!). Made it your way and it tastes just like Nanny made. Thank you so, so much!
Donna, your welcome and to answer your question you can cook it with chicken stock if you would like but then it's going to be more like a soup. a good example of it would be an Irish soup which has ham, chicken stock, cabbage, and potatoes. we use my recipe as more of a side dish. Thanks for watching!
Ok I'm going to try it tonight for my family of 3 I'm going to put a little cub of butter and bacon. But the technique, I love your idea of cooking thank you
Thank you. You did really well in your presentation. Did you know that cooked cabbage helps to promote healthy gut flora? In fact better than yogurt in that area because although yogurt may come with the healthy bacteria it is actually mostly killed off with stomach acid whereas the cooked cabbage (though it doesn't come with the flora) helps the good kind of bacteria to flourish and therefore is a great aid to digestion and health. That is why I wanted to learn how to cook cabbage. I will use your recipe, but may add a little apple cider vinegar.
Creek Bush coleslaw, as far as a cabbage soup you can add chicken stock and sausage or ham. I plan to show it at some point but maybe when the weather cools off a bit. Thanks for watching!
This looks so good. We ate a lot of cabbage when I was growing up because my grandfather grew a lot of vegetables. I love cabbage so much but my husband and kids don't like it at all. When I cook it now it's only for myself.
This was great, thanks for sharing! One thing though, DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT FEED CABBAGE TO RABBITS! It will make them terribly sick and even kill them
Your very welcome. I am so glad you all enjoyed it, if you ever have any requests please feel free to comment and I'll get to it as quickly as I can. I hope I can continue to be helpful in the future.
The Base1aransas, I've also had a garden for years and I've never tried to grow cabbage, I think cabbage would grow better in the fall because it's so hot in the spring. I don't know about you but our weather here goes from cold as all get out to hot as all get out quick, fast and in a hurry! Thanks for the comment and Thanks for watching.

Awesome! I put a lil' hot sauce on there, it gives it that nice kick!
Substitute chicken stock for the water for more flavor
