    Now this what BASSIST'S are expected to deliver with Soul Music... The fact you made just 1 or 2 fills throughout shows you played with the spirit.. like I learnt from Don Moen "never over play"... Thumbs up Nick

    Nice!
    That’s why it’s really cool to play with all chords memorised. Just enjoying the groove!
    Imho, one big pressure with bassist is you cannot make a mistake 😂 seriously I’m not exaggerating, there’s no such rule or police will not grab you. I experienced playing one time and hitting that one wrong note at the right time can mess the groove system 😂 Maybe because the tone is so big, it’s obvious when you play a wrong note compared to other higher frequency instruments.

      @@TonyBiancoOfficial he used the ehx bass microsynth for the big chorus. he uses another lighter overdrive called the dark glass “alpha omega”. he uses the alpha omega after the microsynth almost as a compressor for the microsynth because it can get big and messy. if you go on elevation worship resources you can see him and other bass players from elevation talk about pedals and gear. cheers!

      @@nickedwards4542 heck yeah. I really like your approach on this line; I’m definitely stealing a couple of your higher licks.
      I have a tendency to almost turn this tune into a walking line because it has so much room for chromaticism in it. One of my favorites to play live at worship services.

    Hey Nick, love your playing! I had a question for you!
    When you added your drive/fuzz at the last chorus and through the outro, it took a lot of the lows out with it! Was this completely intentional? I've been trying to learn more about how drive on a bass sits in the mix and would love to hear your thoughts!

    • @nickedwards4542
      @nickedwards4542  3 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      Hey, thanks for the comment!
      It may seem like it cuts some of the lows, but it’s actually more so adding highs. To prevent from cutting too much low-end, I use a fuzzes and overdrives that have a clean blend knob. This lets you maintain the clarity of the signal path prior to the fuzz or overdrive while also adding a bit of dirt to it.
      Hope that helps!

    It's kinda sad that modern church has gotten so overproduced that worship musicians use monitor mixes and click tracks for services.

    • @XXXXSSDDXXXX
      @XXXXSSDDXXXX 3 ปีที่แล้ว +14

      What's sad about wanting to make sure you and your band are tight? if people are making mistakes and distracting the congregation from worship is that not sadder? My very not modern church uses tracks and in-ear monitors so that it's one less thing we have to think about when being the vessel of worship for our congregation. It's not always about being overproduced it's more about being able to shift focus on more important things. Whether there are five people or 5000 people in your church they deserve to be led in worship by musicians that act and play professionally.

    • @uff5657

      in a big building like that, all the equipments helps them a lot otherwise they will get lost or cant hear one another. And you cant have worship when the band and singers dont even hear themselves or are out of beat.
