  • As we speak of God being glorified through suffering, some forget that He is also glorified in alleviating it. Particularly those in the church are given great comfort and healing from Jesus (Matt. 12). How does our mercy ministry upset the world?

I didn't intend to spend 55 minutes listening to this but once I pressed play, at no point could I justify leaving before the end. What could better serve my soul than this? The second time she broke into song, I literally felt chills in my whole body. She is such a joy to listen to and such a treasure among the body of Christ. A real antidote to the shallowness that surrounds us. She is much needed. May she be heard!

Same. I wasn't going to listen to more than a few words..but couldn't get away.
I so wish Joni was healed! She's been so faithful, but so has Jesus been faithful to her in every way too. They are good friends. That's what comes across - they are good friends.

How inspiring...and convicting, their lives are, and we thank you for her and all her friends. May they be a reminder to us that tho things are tough, most of us can walk, talk, etc. And Lord remind us to pray for them as well. We look forward to your return, when we can all dance and sing and worship together, and all the wonders you have in store for us. Amen. Rom. 8:18, 1 Corinth. 2:9, etc...

May God grant her more grace to serve as amplifier of what Jesus is silently telling us especially during the suffering ,grieving , depressing moments of our lives this side of heaven.

It’s hard to not be healed. We will all be healed forever someday when we go Home to Heaven. I may have early onset dementia. I’ve spent the last three years knowing this was a possibility, and it’s hard. It also gives laser focus on how I must make the most of every day now. I’ve loved Joni ever since I read her book at the age of 14 while I was flat on my back recovering from back surgery.

The part about the sacrifice made by a person who gives a gift in spite of pain (like the embroidered pillow cases) really touched me. My husband and I recently visited our dear pastor and his wife from many years ago. They are elderly now, but still sharp and servant-hearted. His wife, who suffers arthritis in her hip and limps slowly everywhere, got down on her knees and washed my feet before we left. Tears rolled down my face as I realized the cost to her, and her love for me. It was also quite a picture of Christ's great love and sacrifice!

It shows us the true wickedness of our own hearts when God has to allow what he hates most..suffering to bring about what he loves most truth in the inward parts. Today I have been convinced that I am utterly wicked without Christ
I thought I was really something until This suffering hit my life. It laid all the insides out. I really needed Christ to die for my sins! I would have went to hell if it wasn't for His extreme Mercy!! This affliction has saved me from confidence in my flesh. I knew I needed to depend on God but until this gift of handicapped I didn't realize how I desperately need Him!!! I abhor myself!!!Therefore I embrace Christ even the more..This has been my treasure in suffering. I must decrease so that Christ may increase!!

    Hast Thou No Scar .......
    Hast thou no scar?
No hidden scar on foot, or side, or hand?
I hear thee sung as mighty in the land,
I hear them hail thy bright ascendant star,
    Hast thou no scar?
    Hast thou no wound?
Yet, I was wounded by the archers, spent.
Leaned me against the tree to die, and rent
By ravening beasts that compassed me, I swooned:
    Hast thou no wound?
    No wound? No scar?
Yet as the Master shall the servant be,
    And pierced are the feet that follow Me;
But thine are whole. Can he have followed far
Who has no wound nor scar?

Cool. I was saved @ her church in 1979. This was when the movie came out. I still remember her approaching Dr. MacArthur about bringing her friends to church. She goes, We'll sit in the back so people won't be uncomfortable. MacArthur says, No way! I want you all up right up here in front. Well, that was the beginnings of Joni and Friends, and awakening the church to the need for these ministries. She's the pioneer; oh boy, is her reward in heaven gonna be awesome!

She never fails, can't wait to meet her in Heaven one day. Hopefully coming soon, the way this world is going. We have that wonderful hope in the one who holds all this together. Jesus Christ, the Lord, King of Kings. He loves you and wants you to be with Him for eternity, what a deal, and it was all because of His death, burial and resurrection so we may live with Him forever. Praise God He shed His blood for all who accept His gift of Grace. But you must reach out and accept it.

I was saved in 1975 and she wrote her first book "Joni" in 1976. I bought it and reading it has changed my perception of sharing the gospel with disabled people. In 2000 I was in a wheelchair for six weeks due to major surgery on both legs and I was amazed at how people would see me coming toward them in that wheelchair and they would completely ignore me or vanish down a side aisle. I Love your voice, but the song "Do Not Pass Me By," stirs my soul as heresy - there is NO way Our Savior would pass us by - Not my Jesus, Ever! TheMighty DR God 'limited' Himself, Ps78:41. About ‘sovereignty’, the worst religious doctrine I think.
Religion has a big problem in its way of thinking and its unscriptural, immovable mindset: "Youve made the Word of no effect, because of your tradition', Jesus said. Often religion mixes the Old and the New Covenant (or, ‘Testament’) and encourages performance (change from the outside in!) instead of grace through faith, and has done much harm in history. But maybe the biggest heresy of religion, which is preached possibly in 99% of the churches, is the wrong concept of ‘sovereignty’.
The dictionary meaning of sovereignty (Andrew Wommack)
      -----
“I believe this is the worst doctrine that is working in the Body of Christ today” - that completely negates the trust that 'God is a good God', Andrew Wommack.
Okay, if you believe that God made you sick, why would you go to the doctor, trying to get rid of sickness, trying to get out of God’s will?
Jesus said, ‘You hypocrites... you are if you think and do these things’, Mark 7.
Well okay, don't try medicine; let sickness abound in you! God 'gave it to you' (?), to teach you a lesson'(?), 'God must have a purpose with my sickness(?).
What a shame for God when you listen to the accuser, and think you have no responsibility now.
      -------
      ======
God's perfect will is not automatically coming to pass. This may shock religious people! But God’s perfect will is written, 'that everyone should be saved'.
It was not contradictory, when Jesus said that most people go to destruction (hell), that THEY (not God!) choose ‘the broad way’. People have the freedom to choose. God 'limited' Himself, Ps78:41, He cannot force us. His Will is that all people should be saved, but His will is not automatically coming to pass! He is not a manipulator! (Andrew Wommack)
I reject the religious meaning of ‘sovereignty’, that states that 'God is the doer of all'! That's unscriptural, that's a perverted god, and I don't know him.
Someone said, 'God has a purpose in this, oh God can be glorified, when somebody raped my daughter, killed her afterwards, paralysed me after that with his gun...; ooh God will get glory out of this, God caused this, and he allowed this’.
Or similarly, someone might say,‘ God did this, to teach you something’.
That sounds so very spiritual. But this is demonic! This is crazy: ONLY religious people can invent and practise this sick thinking!
The ‘world’ should be right to ask a psychiatrist for your treatment! God did not do that. Never! The New Testament God in Jesus Christ is not the author of destruction and the evil that comes to us. NO ‘Acts Of God’! And IF you believe that, there is something very wrong with you. You don’t know Him. Repent! This is what Jesus said to believers, I think nine times in Revelation. Learn to hate sin, to hate evil, to hate the devil, the liar and accuser of men... and of our God Who is only good. Love Him and His Word alone! (Andrew Wommack)

Having a cronic illness (ME) without knowing what it was, I came to “an end” with my life and gave it to Jesus as a 21 years old Young person. In that time I read a book of Joni and really gave me some very precious words about suffering. I kept them in my heart and many years later - as a 55 year old woman - I discover her words again through youtube! Thats a great blessing as they connect deeper with God again. Mostly, when I hear cristians talk of illness, its never cronic illness and mostly mentioned in a context of Gods healing thorugh prayer. I very seldom hear about Gods “being there, in the midst of suffering”, Gods crying heart as he suffers with us. Like christ suffered with all humanity on the cross. Thankyou for this “comment box” so I can join you sharing thoughts. Thankyou Joni for sharing your life experience ❤️

To have faith like this, to be refined by suffering. To be able to pull out our own personal shortcomings, and look them straight in the eye without flinching. This woman is a force, an example to all of us who haven’t had such mind blowing trauma, and think how can she do this? How can she be so good. She knows how God refines her, how the Holy Spirit helps us by keeping us honest. Her understanding is far greater than most. She is an overcomer. I would like to be taught, but my messages from God may be different. I need to know my bible, and listen to God speaking. She gives and gives and is full of Gods Grace. You are an example to us all. Thank you for showing us the way .

We can never hear this type of testimonies from most churches.. To them the not healed are cursed souls to be forgotten and they are embarrassed by the sufferers' condition, a disgrace to them. Oh, so much about the charismatic movement. Why can't they leave it to God instead of endless judgements made on the sufferers.

      Romans 1:21
Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened...
I pray that they will no longer mock and despise the cross of Christ but embrace it. Of which we were all guilty at one point or another. It is something that you have to learn in Christ. The Word of Faith movement that is pure Anti-Christ. Manipulating the word of God as an to lay down your cross never works.

I’m sure this is a God incident. I saw you on telly a few years ago and I sensed God prompted me to have you made whole in His plan. But there was fierce opposition. It’s been said whenever there’s opportunity there’s opposition. Incidentally I’ve also been longing for Nick to appear on tube and sure enough he appeared. So now I say in The Name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth both of you be made whole.
