Yeah so I found this and another on my old computer in a folder of instrumentals I put together oh so long ago. Listening to this now, I can't (and don't) believe that I put this together considering it just doesn't seem possible with the original song. Still, I haven't found it anywhere online the few times I looked so uploaded it for any other fans out there.
I still don't see what critics had against this album. It's no Rhythm-al-ism, but it's pretty mellow and Quik came correct lyrically moreso than any of his previous albums, imo. I always enjoyed how consistent this one was compared to some of his others.

What DJ Quik does on the boards IMO transcends production. The man makes compositions! He goes above and beyond the typical loops and sampling most producers gravitate to, and as a result, most of his tracks can stand on their own without lyrics - this track being a prime example. Preemo, Dre, Dilla and the like are usually the topics of many "greatest producer" debates, and for good reason. But there is no way Quik shouldn't be mentioned among the greats.

Just an FYI that's Warryn "Babydubb" Campbell(erica campbell of mary mary's husband) playing keyboards on this track! I was at the session when David(quik) was working on this song! I was honired to be in the presence of Genius! Quik is waayyy colder than y'all know! He's a Beast in the studio!
Don Clarke II On the album credit, Quik did work with an orchestra from South Central LA correct me if I'm wrong. Warryn Campbell is a prodeje under the DJ Quik umbrella of producer along with G-One.
+Jonathan Meeks- Quik actually didnt work with an entire orchestra per say. However, he actually worked with the string section known as "South Central Strings" who have performed strings for a number of LA based artists! But, the difference between their (south central strings) work with quik versus others is the Quik created & conducted the string arrangements and then had Warryn "Babydub" Campbell add overdubs(additional synthesizer strings) on top of the strings from the orchestra,hence why "Babydub"(Warryn Campbell) is credited on the song! So what you hear is a skeleton track with the strings and babydub replaying over them to give the strings some much needed "thickness"! And Warryn "Babydub" Campbell wasn't per say a protoge for DJ Quik! They met when Warryn Campbell & Quik were both working for Death Row Records(Quik as a recording engineer and Warryn as a session/studio musician as warryn plays both bass guitar and piano/keyboards) so when quik got in a better label situation as a artist,he employed Warryn as a keyboardist/collaborator(not a protoge per say) and he also employed George "G-man"Corante(who has done some remix work and has worked with west coast La based producer Battlecat) as a keyboardist collaborator. For the record though both have learned a lot in terms of production techniques from Quik and so have I and I can tell you Quik is a tech geek as he's always up n new equipment as well as having technical knowledge about sound and equipment that the average producer/engineer doesn't! That's what makes him a great though underrated producer!

I first became familiar with Warryn Campbell as a contributor to Jewell's 'Woman To Woman' on the Murder Was the Case soundtrack and then I bought the cassette single of Trisha Covington's 'Why You Wanna Play Me Out?' in which Campbell did the 'NYRRAW Remix' of that track that got serious radio play back in '95. That remix along with DJ Quik's work sounded so similar with the synthesizers. But I am glad to get the truth from someone that was insider their circle to know how they worked.
