As a fellow customiser, I appreciate that there are lots of different ways to give your dolls hair, and for the technique used, you did a great job, I applaud trying something new 😀 well done. Personally... I let my cousins and nieces play with my custom dolls so I prefer the reroot method cos they can't break them as easily, but the wig technique you used would be great for a display only doll.
Follow a normal ponytail wig cap tutorial (just type it in on TH-cam to find a video of one) and make the center of the head to the side where you would like the pony tail to be.
The new technique is better than the old one but still a little messed up 😅 if you would use less glue it would look much cleaner 😊 I wandet to see how you do the clothes 😍😩 they look awesome!!!! 😍❤️

You would probably do it the same way just with the whole cap possibly? I'm no expert so I wouldn't know for certain.
