Listening to Kan get more angry as time went on and finally snapping when you laid down the fast time was hilarious
The fact it's ACTUALLY just go STRAIGHT through each checkpoint and to the goal is hilarious.
best part of this one is that you could crash into every wall in the map and still not find the cheese, you have to know to slide sideways into that one bit
It always catches me off guard when theres just someone zooming through the sky

Yannic should add a car builder to Zeepkist. After all, the big part of soap box derbies IS the build of the cars.
Yeah, but then the campain to unlock cars becomes useless. Maybe add the car builder as an unlockable item for completing the campain?

In the next update you can customize your zeepkist more, you can choose your soapbox, wheels in front, wheels in the back, glider, zeepguy can now be colored in 5 seperate pieces and your hat and glasses are separated
Some maps, sorta like this one actually, require the carts to be pixel perfect. I think if there is too much cart customization it might make maps impossible for those who don't know the build, or who haven't unlocked certain parts.
Everyone going left was so close to the cheese, so close yet so far.
I love when dapper is actually able to pull one over with the cheese.

Trackmania has a HUGE incentive (and a lot more resources) to fix the controller vs keyboard disparity, and they haven't managed yet, so I'd say Zeepkist having the same problem isn't a big deal at all lol
it is an impossible problem to solve. the smooth steering vs tapping won't be able to be fixed and that problem get's even worse if you compare keyboard vs steering wheel. it is either better to use one of them or it will be bad for both of them. sadly there doesn't seem to be a sweetspot that works for both equaly good.
Somehow Apex Legends managed to mess this up even more, the Aim assist given to controller players is so big that all the pros use it.
There's only 2 hack solutions and 1 actual solution (which is horrible though) that I can think of:
One is to make the cars loose less speed at the same steering angle when someone uses a keyboard. It won't make the two modes equivalent, but at least keyboards have an advantage on half of the maps, if you can adjust it right (which you won't be able to, not only because the skill of the top players develops over time).
Or you could save separate "keyboard" and "controller/steering wheel" leader boards and have the game fudge the times so that the tops of the leader boards line up for each track and can be displayed as a single list. Nobody would notice if their in-game clock progresses at a second every 1.023 seconds; and times on the leaderboard slowly changing is imho acceptable if they include a "(+0.78s controller penalty)" or "(-0.29% keyboard bonus)" note. The problem with that is that you have to build the fudge algorithm such that intentionally putting down a bad or mediocre time doesn't poison the handicap.
The only way to actually solve the fact that the keyboard just lacks the fidelity in position is to use several steering keys. You'd have separate "strong left" "gentle left", ... keys. And on top of that, you can make it so that holding "strong left" and tapping "gentle left" gives you a different steering angle than holding "gentle left" and tapping "strong left" than holding both keys. And tapping only "gentle left" a different amount than tapping only "hard left". 2 different keys per direction would theoretically give you 8 different steering amounts (HR HT HH TT TH RH TR RT), but I don't know how many of them you could cram into a control scheme that remains intuitive enough. Probably only 6. And I think that it would still not make keyboard players quite as good as controller players.
@@Pystro Sort of funny that you came up this actual solution under someone talking about Trackmania, because that's basically what Trackmania did. Trackmania has action keys in their game which makes it so players are able to do certain turn amounts whenever they want on keyboard. And your conclusion is accurate, while it makes the game a lot more consistent for keyboard players, there will still always be turns that you don't have the perfect action key for.

You should make a track where the "cheese" gains you time on the checkpoints, but looses speed, so between the last checkpoint and the end, someone taking the normal round actually overtakes.

This certainly lived up to my expectations! The only thing that would've made this video better, would be hearing Kosmo groaning over the way Dapper speaks.

Yep, it's 'Stollen' in German. But I didn't make that connection, maybe because there wasn't a tunnel

Always love the cheeses like this that are hidden by the presence of other, more obvious cuts, but this might be the craftiest of them all!

definitely keep trying to come up with awesome cheeses that have to be impossible to find or you have to do a certain thing to get it right. you got away with doing it without anyone noticing also.

Beating the team of players out there to just debunk the map of cheesing, impressive.
Dapper you should definitely make a regular track with regular short cuts but make sure the fastest time is a min or more then make a totally different track underground where you go just below a min with their own short cuts and play that map twice

I wonder if you could make that cheese any faster? possibly more hidden boosters along the path that boost you to ridiculous speeds? with those boosters possibly also helping other shortcuts so that people don't notice them being out of place... you could do the omni-directional boosters to accomplish this. Possibly have them visible inside the shortcuts to give a hint that there is another way to use the shortcut? Just spit-balling ideas...
