@@16dalife20 How brutal was board on the gang stuff? And , disciplinary history?? Also, why is it that the psyche's seem so partial to the board?? and finally, the state attorneys, are they fully un biased, or are they themselves just another part of the system???
i ask these things cuz i have a nephew whos a youth offender that has been in since 17 yrs old, down about 24 yrs in total now, and will see board in a year or so. I know he's NOT the kid he once was. Hes taken time to complete some self helps, finish high school, few vocations, accepted to trans. housing, letters of support, letters of employment... He's actually TRYING to do well and work towards your position. I just wish we could help him more. We who kno him kno he's grown in ways that we never woulda believed. What truly worries him, n US (his fam.) is that because hes not SNY n the psyche's, attorneys, are all very judgemental n part of a system that is SOOO used to looking at everything BUT what's actually in the individuals mind n heart. I HOPE to see this kid ( now an adult) someday in ur position but im trying not to be too hopeful. Cuz he DID start off young, active, stacking those 115s and, at one point was still very much living that lifestyle that most men in prison do, not purely outta carelessness, but because ITS WHAT U ALL WE'RE THROWN INTO.
He knows things have changed, and that he WILL be home again one day because he is genuinely trying to do everything he needs to to EARN that.
My concern, n what im asking you, is putting everything to the side, if he's doing the work, has the certificates, insight , planning, etc..( and putting distance between himself n the homies, staying away from the day to day drama)
is the board SINCERELY giving you guys the chance to show ur MORE than the stack of paper sitting in front of them?? ive heard stories bout attorneys who just advise to postpone, who themselves judge before getting to know YOU ALL AS HUMANS BEFORE LETTING UR FILE FORM THIER JUDGEMENT, and, how fair did u honestly feel the whole psyche thing was for urself, and most the men you've been around who have since made it home, or, who are still in there TRYING to make it out... im sure its not easy , so my full respect is extended to u in FULL. Not just for making it, but also for BEING A PILLAR OF HOPE TO THOSE U LEFT BEHIND!!!!

@@16dalife20 most of these shows like to stick with interviews of former gang members like them. Mitch comes across as someone who gets along with all races. Of course we all know the politics in Cali prison don’t allow that. When I first got locked up at 19. I was in San Diego county. This was 1996. One of my good child hood homies was locked up there. He was black I’m Chicano and we knew the politics and couldn’t really talk but we made eye contact with a nod and a wink. Good thing a riot didn’t pop off with both going at it. I think I would have just avoided him all together. Glad I don’t roll like that anymore
