The whole party sequence is probably my favorite part of the whole film. This song jolting in, up through the red and white pulsing lights. Stunning visuals.
The lack of narrative didn't bother me either, the film was all about symbolism and visual storytelling. Reminded me allot of Mulholland Drive, almost like Lynch and Kubrick had a lovechild.

Ooo I finally get to watch this movie this year!.... (Japan gets these kinda smaller movies waaaaaay late. I just saw Don't Breathe at the cinema last week)
There have been some lyrics floating around the internet that I think are off in regards to this song. I love this song by the way! Not so much the movie though. Compare mine with what is out there. Here are my lyrics below. Let me know what you think:
Sweet Tempest - Mine I won't back down I got my crown And it's mine It's all mine A closed design It changed my time Because it's mine It's all mine At night when the tempest comes out And the world gives up like a zero doubt Our bodies mesmerize Defined in superior light I touch and feel my way through the light And our bodies fantasize I won't back down I got my crown And it's mine It's all mine A closed design It changed my time Because it's mine It's all mine At night when the tempest comes out And the world gives up like a zero doubt Our bodies mesmerize Defined in superior light I touch and feel my way through the light And our bodies fantasize On my skin On the line In the end It's all mine At night when the tempest comes out And the world gives up like a zero doubt Our bodies mesmerize Defined in superior light I touch and feel my way through the light And our bodies fantasize I won't back down I got my crown And it's mine It's all mine
Does anyone know how to get this tone on guitar? Any insights into what pedals and effects they may have used? I was thinking maybe it's played with a suboctave and a ton of fuzz, but any insights would be appreciated. That goes for the bass as well.
...still listening this perfect ost in 2024. The whole album is a real travel as the film is. What would our lives be without music and cinema ? Love to cruise and listen it in my car😎🔻
Nicolas Winding Refn certainly knows how to pick a soundtrack. after all, he worked with Cliff Martinez on his three latest movies (Drive, Only God Forgives and The Neon Demon).
Try the Coen Brothers, Paul Thomas Anderson and David Lynch. True masters. Jeremy Saulnier is looking very promising as well after his films Blue Ruin and Green Room.
Slab Bulkhead You forgot Scosese, Tarantino, Kubrick, Coppola, Hitchcock, Nolan, Aronofsky, Villenueve, Inarritu, Spielberg, and Ridley Scott just to name a few.
+IncorporatedOps Nolan and Scott are English (besides, Scott has an iffy track record despite directing Alien and Blade Runner), Villenueve is French-Canadian, Inarritu is Mexican, Tarantino sorta lost me after Inglorious Basterds (I marginally enjoyed The Hateful Eight), Scorsese is great but I haven't been too impressed with his work since The Departed and Shutter Island, Kubrick, Hitchcock and Coppola (unless you're referring to Sofia) are dead, and Spielberg and Aronofsky are very hit and miss for me. I should add Wes Anderson to the list though. Also, Rian Johnson. Loved Brick and Looper.
More story and less style? Are you crazy? It sounds like you didn't get the movie, the story was as good as a Kubrick film its not your typical easy to watch kinda movie.
i know how you feel about it, but the ideia of the movie is exactly about beauty, and how "beauty isn't everything, it's the only thing", so the story wasn't really thaaat necessary
I'd legitimately be surprised if that had been the case. but then again, he used to have This Bright Flash as his intro back in the day, so it could've been plausible.
The whole party sequence is probably my favorite part of the whole film. This song jolting in, up through the red and white pulsing lights. Stunning visuals.
my favorite part is the finale scene.

Great party. I mean, let's not talk about that party at the swimming pool.
PETROL ATOM great gore, great cinematography, great writing, great clothing, great metaphor, great story, great meaning
Great music for a great movie. I was stunned at the end, incredible feeling from this story, this dream/nightmare in a technicolor world.
Such a beautiful movie, I don't care if the narrative was a bit thin, it was so damn gorgeous to look at!
+1
The lack of narrative didn't bother me either, the film was all about symbolism and visual storytelling. Reminded me allot of Mulholland Drive, almost like Lynch and Kubrick had a lovechild.
Interesting take. It reminded me of Dario Argento and Black Swan.
Totally agree
And so much suspense. Some scenes made me uncomfortable.
there is something hypnotic about this song!
It's Witchy
The Distortion is so beautifully executed. Perfect.
I just can't stop listening to this....
The same for me ! Can't stop playing it since its release back in 2016 !!!
Same
Incredible song for a mind blowing movie.
Film and soundtrack of the year.
I won't back down
I got my crown
And it's mine
It's all mine
A quaint design
It takes my time
Because it's mine
It's all mine
At night when the tempest comes out
And the world gives up like a shiver of doubt
Our bodies mesmerize
Defined in superior light
I touch and feel my way through delight
And our bodies fantasize
I won't back down
I got my crown
And it's mine
It's all mine
A quaint design
It takes my time
Because it's mine
It's all mine
At night when the tempest comes out
And the world gives up like a shiver of doubt
Our bodies mesmerize

I touch and feel my way through delight
And our bodies fantasize

Nicholas Winding and David Lynch should collaborate. Would be the Darkest ,sexiest, suggestive and hypnotic movie ever...
Add Gaspar Noé as co-director, and Jodorowsky as producer and I’m on it 🤘🏻
@@argos4978 I'd kill for NWR and Noe to a double feature Grindhouse collaboration in the vein of what Tarantino/Robert Rodriguez did in 2007.
love it at first listen

There was a moment in the movie I felt like moving on, but I couldn't.

This song was made specifically for the Neon Demon, so everybody is here because of the Neon Demon.
I came here because of music, you moron.
I thought it was Alison Mosshart during the verse
I thought it was Karen O
So it is!
Preciso de um carro pra ouvir isso dirigindo ele.
what genre would you call this?
We will probably call it "Alternative Rock / Pop music."
But we can change it if we find a more appropriate name ;-)
It's a real mixture, but I would say shoegaze with a touch of electronica.
Can we say is Dream Pop? Post Rock?
Synthwave + Rock.
