You should have written the user manual, which would have solved many of the problems. Thanks for the great video. The base unit's button needs to be held for about 5 seconds until it flashes yellow; but my unit is flashing yellow both before and while holding the button. The manufacturer says it is not defective; albeit I have tried numerous times without success in getting it paired. Your suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks for any help.
That bites. Hmm, you might try holding it 10 to 15 seconds and see if that makes a difference. Make sure you are doing them in the correct sequence. If all else fails, I would put in for a return and have another one sent out to you. I can't imagine someone saying any device is not defective without checking it themselves when something is clearly not working correctly. I hope you get it to working. They really are nice to have.
Thank you very much for your prompt reply. FYI, if held for 15 minutes, it blinks yellow for 5 minutes, then momentarily it goes solid yellow and then blinks yellow for the next 10 minutes. By correct sequence, I assume you mean that the phone has to be looking for the signal before holding the base unit's button. Thanks again and have a nice day
You should have shown where it mounts on the mailbox itself. Instruction manual does not say. Inside or outside of the mailbox?
My apologies, it goes on the inside. When the door opens, it triggers it. I know two people personally who use these and theirs works great they tell me.
Great video. I came here for the 'angle adjustment knob' which unfortunately you didn't have to adjust. I can't find reference to how to adjust in the paper manual, so I guess I have to pretend to add another alarm to see that instruction. I am getting fantom alarms when nobody is opening the door to the mailbox, and figure it is either this 'angle adjustment knob' or I have a faulty unit.
My guess is that it is a faulty unit. If there is anyway you could send it back for a replacement, that is what I would do. We have it installed in a mailbox and it has not sent any fantom alarms so far. It has worked perfect so far.
Is there a way to change the alert tune? It currently sounds like a very loud claxon. Not at all like the one in your video.
Yes, you can change the sounds in the app.
Does it record a video too?
No it does not. It is supposed to detect by motion, but I can tell you that in the mailbox it is in, a loud truck will set it off. Vibration perhaps. But even at that, it really is a nice device to have.
please, how do you remove fromt he bracket and change batteries. the manual is simply trash
I'm sorry, we have never needed to change the battery. But there are 4 screws on the back of it that should give you access.
Can you turn that alarm on the base station off so it just notifies your phone? Also, does that noise continue to play until the mailbox is shut? Thank you
No, there is not a switch to turn it on and off and if you unplug the base station, you will not receive a notification on your phone. I hope that helps.
It does have a way to change up to 7 different tones and you can switch off continuous tones also you can adjust the volume. All this is done thru the app when you select the sensor under devices.
Junk tech!, spend hour trying to scan and enter serial # ...... no thank you.....return to sender for a refund... :(
Sorry you had issues with yours. I gave the one I had away, and it works great, and her mother ordered one and hers is working perfect too. Maybe you had a faulty one? X-Sense has good customer service, you might should have checked with them before returning it.
