As an old player from the original Aion, I think they changed many things specially in the EU version coming up. I would rather pay in NA because more true experience than EU which is a more water down version.

I guess your experience differed from mine. But playing the NA version p2p from almost day 1 of its release was very good... and then it went free to play, which brought in a lot of scum. The level of toxicity in the game ruined the whole experience for me when it went f2p. The changes that ncsoft implemented in expansions became all too much as well. By 4.0, The best pvp gear required you to have a high level rank and you had to keep it in order to wear the gear which i could not get there which had a lot to do with the ping i had. I realized that i could not compete at the highest level at all because my ping was way too high and even with Battleping it was not enough. As a player from australia i realized i could not play on an even playing field, it was just not possible. The best time i had was in the early days, the level 50 cap i was at my best and that part of the game i loved, especially rifting. After that, i hated the game more and more as each expansion wore me down till i quit and never went back. I never looked back, 10 years since i quit but i choose to remember the good times when it was once a good mmo game. IMO

Interesting. How you define P2W. For me this is all Pay for Convenience. Im testing the waters in Classic NA with (probably) worse droprates than we will get. Crafting is leveled currently to 330 which grants you access to the Scrolls. if thats under 3m kinah to achieve the Scrolls are very minor. As for the paid Daeva Pass Rewards they are neat, and here we could argue about P2W given there are Manastones and Enchantment Stones in it. But given how the System works those stones can pretty much be a drop of water compared to the huge pool needed. The only issue i see is that the Rewards are tradeable so people very much could spend ~80€ per character to get the max rewards instantly. That's where i 100% agree we hit the P2W fields. But on long term we catch up faster to those people than they think. Good for us is also that they fixed a currency conversion Loophole for the Whales so they might spend less overall.
Of course as i said everyone have his/her own standard on what pay 2 win means. The thing is that is a fine line between the definitions so we cant be certain of anything. I tottaly agree with you because i suppose you referee to Candies that they are unsellable to NPCs. Sadly the 1h of Siel's energy hits the bell for me because isnt free to play, is free to play for 1h/day. But i really hope you will enjoy the game and have fun :) ! Thanks for your comment a lot
@@AugustTear same issue here., they are forcing you to pay 10€ to unlock the f2p that should've been free fully in the first place .. also the restrictions do not give u "the best experience possible" as they keep advertising. they could just add cosmetics or other stuff for cash.. not locking content or meanings of gaining gear unless u pay real cash... for me that sound 100% p2w and the explanation is simple : you dont pay ,you have 1hr of gameplay and no acces to good gear,gathering,etc /you pay, you have game fully unlocked and acces of good gear,gathering,ap ........ so who pay pretty much is very much in advantage vs so called"f2p players" .. so yeah.. p2w and whoever think is not,need to wake up to reality

As far as i Know the 15 Euro for the "Battle pass" are per SEASON not per month! And it is important to know that AION back int he days is designt to play without a shop. Thats why you can totaly achieve anything you want just by playing. Dont worry about ptw
Well everyone have their own definition of p2w. You might think that farming for 2 months something that someone just take in a seconds isn't p2w because it's achievable. But still you need 2 months to catch up. We have to see how exactly will things work to be sure. The main thing for me is that the game as they publish it now won't attract new players, it will just reserve the core audience.

@@AugustTear Absolutly. I play a lot of World of Warcraft and ESO. And i also play Guild Wars 2 every couple month :D But for now, nothing was as good as AION back in the days for me. Its just the Story Atmospheare and Art Style was exectly like i love it.

Ever since Lost Arc, P2W became a question of contention: is it reeeaaally pay-to-win, or is it "just" pay-to-progress? I think, every advantage gained via money is pay-to-win - on the other hand, so what? - I didnt play Aion back in the day, couldnt affort the sub and stuck with GW1, but several friends tried it out. They didnt stick with it though... Ah well, I tried Aion Classic on an NA server recently and... its not bad... And from what I hear, GF hasnt yet lost trust of the playerbase soooo... I'll surely give it a try. Probably with Siel's-whatever.
well on retail they went from fully sub to free to play and now with classic they are trying a combo of f2p and sub which is pure shit... the retail f2p was better for ppl who just want to play ,not talking about tryhard players bcs for these pay cash was neccesary ..lol

Aion classic is for people that like Aion classic it should in no way be free to play the hour a day or whatever is fine but it being mostly sub based is much better. I think the hype is so big and what we'll receive is giant disappointment - pay to win. And it's now even GF's fault. Since NC soft went free to play with retail, this game is worse with every patch. Same will happen with classic.
They could not make it pay to play because they end up with max 1 server so it is not profitable. They decided to go with this free to play model, but I tried it with North America release and it was horrible experience for ptp players. No crafting, no drops no rewards from pvp, leveling up is a nightmare because you're crippled on the journey. This basically forces every free to play player to leave eventually. I am not optimist for the EU release.
Yes because isn't free to play. It's f2p for 1h/day and of course this for mmorpgs means nothing. So it's with forced sub covered. I am not that optimistic about it as I said to the video sadly. They will end up with one server with this model anyway for sure...

Pay to win? There is a line here in that a sub model used to put everyone on the same level and it came down to time invested and skill. Pay to win is when you pay to gain an advantage which if you add free to play to a sub model then from the perspective of the free to play player the sub player is paying to win... Free to play allows more people to play and pads numbers in any game , but sub models were far better as the pay to win never really came into the mix... They are combining both here though (as they do in other games) and the real question is if people can pay to gain an advantage as in paying extra for benefits on top of just paying for a sub...
The thing is that isn't free to play is f2p for 1h/day let's be honest here. It's a force sub model not free to play. I am sure that there will be things for pay 2 win also but we need to see to be sure. One thing is for certain for me, this model will never work to attract new players and the game will stay only with some hard core audience and that's all.

There is absolutely nothing in the battlepass that forces you to buy it - 1/2 manastone bundles and ench bundle. The same you can get from daily tasks or the free version of the battlepass anyway, People are so quick to jump to conclusions lmao

no its not worth it.. its actually a nostalgic "filler" scam or waste of time until something good comes out on the mmo market.. its no different than EQ or wow classic.. personal preference its best described and also "fun" to play with people you know like any other game out there..

Extremely enjoyable game, find myself always going back to it, there's just no great mmo out there atm...
I remember when they dropped out that teaser with swimming, immerssive weather, and i just wonder why tf they didnt updated the game to that.

It's the opposite actually, they even remove the teleport function from quests. Also removed the early pay to win cause u cant sell candy to npc.

aion classic is supposed to be subscription based so in that way its not really free to play.
