  • From the outside Asiana Airlines aircraft look stunning with a super cool livery...on the inside it's a different story. The colour scheme and the seat design give the cabin a definite retro-vibe.
But what was the rest of the experience like? Join me as I fly from Seoul, South Korea through to Sydney Australia and we'll find out together.
This will be a 9 Hour Retro Feast in Asiana Business Class.
This full business class flight review covers the entire Asiana Business Class experience from check in at Seoul Railway Station right through to the Asiana airport lounge, the onboard service, amenities kits and meals.

Hello everybody, it was just around 24 hours ago when my dad and I bumped into Dennis at the gate! We said hello, and he was very friendly, and we had an interesting conversation about his work relating to Qatar and our experiences with them. He told us that he had this video coming out hopefully tomorrow (now today), and here it is. Given he was only 4 or so minutes into the editing I think it's worth recognising his effort to finish this off quickly so we could enjoy! Thank you Dennis, and I hope to see you again at some point :). Have a great flight

You are one of the best of the TH-cam flight reviewers. Do you find yourself getting recognized by the cabin crew as you board? Do you think they have someone who keeps track of the more popular reviewers like yourself, and gives the airlines a heads up when they book a flight? I follow a few of these channels. Sometimes the person doing the review seems to get special attention. Do you think the airlines give you preferential treatment to help ensure a more positive review? I'm just curious. Love your channel!

I assume that you have never done the Hong Kong Airport Metro service. On arrival, they ask which hotel you are staying at and then tell you which bus to catch at the other end. Most efficient.
The first time that I did the return (hotel, train with baggage for Qantas sent through automagically) I had one of the most bizarre starts.
At about 6am I walked out of the hotel, foggy outside and sort of daylight, to the U shaped drive and walked toward the end when it joined the roundabout. There was a service road on my left, and a white Mercedes with white wedding ribbon driving slowly along the service road where I was standing on the kerb. There was a male driving and a female in the passenger seat. when it was 10-15 metres away from me, a number of sirens went off, two Police motorbikes pulled up and a plain white van raced in. The van disgorged a number of uniformed police complete with sub-machine guns. They arrested the occupants of the Mercedes. This all happened in less than 60 seconds, or so it seemed. My taxi arrived and took me to the station. The taxi-driver asked me what had happened!
Anyway, I enjoyed your video as usual. I have been to South Korea three times on business and the efficiency of everything is a delight. Although the traffic is tedious.

Airline selection differs, but you should be fine with domestic airline plus big ones (Emirates, Singapore Airlines, United...). Great feature.

I love Asiana business class, it is my default between London and Sydney. On my first flight with them, I gave a crew a Thank You card because they were so lovely. Every crew member then came to my seat, thanked me and presented me with a gift that they had found among the washbags and other amenities. They need bigger wine glasses, though. Hic....

I know Asiana cabin decor and IFE are kind of a bad joke at this point but I've found their service impeccable, even in economy. Furthermore they are one of the few airlines that still give 100% miles even on quite cheap fares. 3-3-3 seating on the 777 is also a rarity these days. It will be a sad day if/when the merger with KE happens because I doubt these benefits will survive on the merged carrier.

Dennis, have you flown KE? What's your take on KE J vs. OZ J class?
I flew KE Y class a few weeks ago; it was pretty nice and fairly decent quality - if appearing a little dated and very regimented service regimes (without fail, the KE air hostesses did a corridor patrol with soft drinks every 30-45 mins) and at the slightest turbulence the seatbelt sign was on with an announcement by the chief steward or the captain.
My work colleagues flew KE J class and whilst enjoying the food/service (soft product) the hard product was inferior (they felt) to qatar airways or BA's new club suite; but the soft product and novelty made it an overall nicer experience than an english speaking airline.
