  • GPS problems is a nightmare for Uber drivers or any body using their phone for Navigation, here are some quick tips that i learned over the years that helped a lot, Number 1 issue is the Wifi trust me on this one when you're using gps turn Wifi OFF, that will smooth your navigation, also networks mode move it down from LTE to 4G also helps a lot last thing especially with older phones turn off any app that is running in the background like Facebook and such, this will dedicate more of you processing power to Uber and GPS of course basic setting like location and high accuracy and off line maps , the Number 1 thing that made a huge difference for me is turning off Wifi wile navigating, thanks for watching i hope it helps

Thank you so much for making the time to post this video - I have been experiencing issues with the in-app navigation with Uber. The app is terribly made, in so many ways - this is just one stunning example of how terrible it is.
The high-accuracy mode (wifi/bluetooth assisting GPS) improves every other app's functionality - but Uber's app gets its wires crossed, as it were, with this setting enabled, it seems.
You have confirmed my suspicions that the app doesn't know how to handle wifi/bluetooth location-services with you anecdotal evidences.
Thanks again, and much success, great health, and beautiful wealth to you and yours, to edify creation!

For my Android phone, I think it was the High Accuracy location setting that was causing my navigation problems, both with Uber and Google Maps. Essentially, the phone was trying to use data from different sources that weren't always agreeing. Once I changed location settings to GPS only, it started behaving. Google Maps doesn't like that though. Every time I start that app, it asks to turn on the location feature, which is already on in GPS only mode, and restores it to High Accuracy. So I have to deny it every time.

I agree because high Accuracy lets your phone use Wifi and blue tooth and GPS, especially older phones will have a hard time locking

Thanks for the tip! Turning off wifi solved my issue, also turning the app off and back on every couple of hours (both Uber and google maps) helps keeping things running smoothly

Uber app for me navigates to pickup point, then I slide “start trip” and it doesn’t navigate to destination. I do not have issues with any other gps/navigation apps on my phone, so I know it’s Ubers app. I have restarted phone, reset network settings, switched to 3g from LTE, deleted app and reinstalled, yet it will not navigate after I pickup rider.

Well _ I did turn off Wi-Fi & did the other things you suggested ---- but Uber Navigation is still a Joke!! It not only Freezes Up, but the voice directions are screwed up!!! Thank God my Riders are able to see & hear what's happening ---- so I don't look like a complete idiot!!!! Once that starts happening, even if I'd like to keep picking up Riders - I QUIT!!!! I'm going to try Lyft & Grub Hub with the hopes their Navigation system is something I can rely on!!!!!!!

I feel the pain, what i am saying is the wifi off will definitely help any phone to have more processing power freed, but if the phone is old and signal is week i will still have trouble navigating , a new fast phone is the best option and i still turn off wifi while navigating

This week I have been running into problems with Uber Driver app. To sum it up, I have a Galaxy S7 with Verizon. I am using google map instead of the Uber map. As Im driving, I see lost connection messages along with Super frustrating issue with me looking like Im not even moving on the map!! I have lost riders because they think Im not coming to get them even though I am! I wasn't sure if this issue had anything to do with the 3400 Uber workers laid off and not maintaining the Uber Driver app. Im going to try your suggestions and let you know how it worked out for me. If anybody else has been going through this, please let me know.

If it happens once in a while, it could be the uber system is not working properly, if it happens a lot despite turning the Wifi off, it could be the phone keep in mind Galaxy S7 is considered old because of all the updates of Android and Uber App since then, also you said you are using google map that puts more stress on your phone cpu, Right Now I'm using Galaxy S9 and i alway turn WiFi Off and every thing is very smooth, good luck

I can turn off my wifi but I have an Iphone 6 so some of these options are not available. I will try turning wifi off when using navigation because my UBER Nav was off two days in a row, which caused me issues. I have better luck with google maps. Thanks for the tips.

Uber directed me to the wrong pickup address twice in my first 2 days, I was hesitant using the app again but I'll try turning off 4G.
