Why are there so few shadowrun lore vids? It seems to be a pretty in depth alternate universe.
It's a great world with a deep lore, especially if you add the Earthdawn stuff. Unfortunately they made some really dumb decisions regarding other stuff like rules, presentation and so on. So everybody stopped playing it.
Probably because the rules were fairly in-depth so it was harder to get into. Can't be 5th edition where a baby and a monkey could run a game, even in the newest that drastically simplified it, and it is still pretty complicated.
Shadowrun would need to get some at least AA size RPG game, and a good one, for that to perhaps to kick off with more lore vids.

The implication in the Lore is that the Native Americans were the catspaws for the Immortal Elven cabal to break up the US (so they could get Tir Tairngire going), and they (along with Thais, a half-Horror/half-Elf who remained active during the 5th World) taught Coleman & Company magical knowledge that shouldn't have been available that early in the Cycle.
That IS helpfull.
I am strugling to start my Next Shadowrun campaign. Not sure If gonna use SR universe or Mine (geopolitically closer to ours)

As someone living in the "Greater Denver-Metro Area" I am absolutely eating this information about the Front Range Free Zone up, it'll make things interesting if I can convince my usual group to try out some Shadowrun set in Denver. What's changed, what's the same, so many options.

Kinda wish the lore would go into a little more depth with the few anticapitalist states it still has kicking around, y'know, see how they handle things in a world so thoroughly dominated by multinational corporate giants. I know there's a decent amount of stuff with Berlin, but, like, "Cuban socialist pirates" is definitely a thing I want to know more about.

Dude, my dm is teaching me how to master a campaing using the shadowrun setting (adapting from Numenéra combat system to simplify things). This video is incredibly helpful, especially since we'll be using North and South America as big players in this story. Thanks a lot for making this type of content

Funny thing about the Aztechnology conquest of the southern states is that Mexico sold the states MOST of the land about 150 years ago or lost it through conquest. The states they lost were California, Nevada, Utah, New Mexico, most of Arizona and Colorado, and parts of Oklahoma, Kansas, and Wyoming. So it was pretty much a re conquest hehe

I wish these were more popular. There isn't much shadowrun lore videos out there.
As someone from San Diego, a major military city, I find it kind of insulting that California had apparently no real military presence in this universe and that San Diego was the first to fall and be taken over by an invading force.
I think that was mainly because the U.S. elected a populist authoritarian businessman as its president in the early 2000s. Said president used his political capital to slash the military budget and sell off everything he could while privatizing the defense industry over the 8 years of his presidency. The military power of the U.S. was sold off en masse so there probably wasn't much of a military left for the CalFree to defend itself.
Militaries are either mooks or non existent in games like shadowrun

Wait, the U.S to this day is still very much a place where christianity has deep roots. Granted, some people who call themselves Christians may not practice...let's call it 'authentic' Christian traditions, but does shadow run basically say that all the mysticism of the groups it didn't care about are fake in it's setting because they don't cause magic to happen?
Also, the magic of the native Americans is seeped deeply in their religion. Are there gods in Shadowrun...?

I haven't even really thought of Shadowrun in a year or so. I really enjoyed this rundown, because the depth of my involvement before was "haha, Troll with Alphaware go bzzzzz". The mechanics got really messy after third edition, IMO.
Edit to say, these maps are showing some age. Barrow (showcased around 18:04 - 18:23 in the bit about the TPAN) has relatively recently (around 2016) been renamed to Utqiagvik. This isn't really a complaint or feedback, just an observation and a little trivia.
I didn't even know that there was a Caribbean league. Honestly, I think it would either be super racist to metahumans or not give a single damn...no in between. I know this because I live there.

I love the worldbuilding of this! Granted for the AI stuff, they were conquered, not robbed. The individual tribes had been groups of very unique groups. Some were nomadic, some were agricultural, some were cannibalistic, some were slavers, some were evil parasitic warmongers who survived by preying on other tribes, some were incredibly altruistic and (relatively) advanced groups that were trying to form a unified civilization. But yeah.
So this is the universe where the native americans were sort of the bad guys... They dont play favorites, at least.
Yes, kind of, but like everything else in Shadowrun it's complicated and morally ambiguous. For obvious reasons Mr. Burger skipped a lot of the details.
UCAS is also the bad guys. I even mentioned the literal re-education camps they set up. Everyone in Shadowrun is the bad guys.

Regarding female leaders, in the UK it was the conservative party that got a female prime minister not the left wing party and not once but twice.
New Zealand's first female prime minister was also from the more conservative of our parties at the time. (Of Course, that was by way of taking over the leadership of the party when it was already the government... And our next female PM was the leader of the Labour party...)
