I agree. It's such a small little segment and a line that goes over people's heads. In that moment Karl realises what he's done is a drop in the ocean and doesn't help the bigger picture. This is one of the episodes that really shows Carl’s heart. You can tell he just feels he wasn’t doing enough. I know Steve needed to make it funny on that phone call, but he wasn’t responding to what Carl was actually saying.

I saw the hippo people with Jessica and they rescued her when she was a baby nearly dead at the end of their driveway when a flood happened. She goes back to the river with her kind and still comes home. She has the best of being wild and yet still coming home to her human parents.
I did a bungee jump years ago and screamed just like that. I was all cool beforehand and everything. Just sheer terror when you freefall like that , horrible feeling.

The thing that makes this show so good is Karl is actually smart as hell, he's very handy and good on the tools so he can do stuff like this, he cares about people generally, he is always open to partake in local culture, its just stuff like bungee jumping that you could do anywhere that he decides to fight Stephen and Ricky on. No, Karl isn't "smart". He's very simple and is handy, but he isn't "smart". If you've listened to the XFM broadcasts and podcasts, you'd see he's unbelievably dumb a lot of the time. But he's mostly a good guy and is just... basic. But he IS very creative when it comes to funny analogies and wording things with a certain humour.

They even kill babies that aren't theirs so they can breed with the mother. Nature is brutal. They are amazing creatures don't get me wrong, but they aren't what you call gentle at all, but they are definitely less erratic and dangerous than Chimpanzees. Chimps can just go off and start violently attacking for no good reason, whereas Gorilla's usually do have a reason.
