So I'm guessing you are not an advocate of the $50 Amazon USB microphones that all the other 'influencers' are promoting. That mic you're using for this video actually sounds pretty good.

Mmmmm probably not a great choice. USB mics contain their own analogue to digital converters and they probably don't use the best electronics.

Is there a difference between choosing a microphone for audiobooks versus traditional commercial voiceovers?

Great question! Not really. What's important is the post-recording processing chain and the amount of noise floor. Nail those two things and you could probably use a Radio Shack cassette recorder mic from 1980.
