I wrote this song at a time in my life when things were pretty beautiful, I was living in a house surrounded by a pasture full of longhorn, I was raising butterflies and a baby deer. I would travel back and forth between LA, Maui and Nashville pursuing my souls passions. I had a record and a publishing deal, everything I had been working for my whole life was coming into fruition. I felt the need to write a song called ‘daydream’ that wasn’t about love or heartbreak, I wanted something meaningful and inspiring…something that would encourage other young people to listen to their heart. After a few hours with Mags Duval and Casey Brown, Daydream was born..
Then the unexpected happened, my mom was diagnosed with cancer and my life twisted upside down. I lost my record deal and my confidence. I developed an extreme case of anxiety. My main focus was my mom, and naturally nothing else seemed to matter… After a fierce fight with vast ups and downs, my mom passed away. In that moment, not only did I lose my mom, I lost my best friend and number one cheerleader. I found myself falling into a depression, the grief and sadness took over me... Now after battling this heartbreak, I feel like I wrote this song for my future self, to re-inspire me to never quit my daydream. -lily

Hi Kristan, my son just sent this video to me and I too teared up. I'm studying law and have 2 years left until I graduate. Law enforcement has always been a dream but being a single mother after their dad passed it wasn't in the cards for me. It really hit home, I just wanted to tell ya that I felt it too. Wow! Same thing happened to me back in 2001. I had just released my first CD and had the first tour planned.
Found out about 30 days before the start of the tour that my Mom had terminal cancer with only maybe 9 months left.
I couldn't leave her. My Dad and Mom made sure we had everything we needed when we were growing up and I was not about to leave her and be somewhere criss crossing the states. I cancelled the tour and spent the time she had left with her and my brother. After she passed . . . I had no desire to even play music for awhile. I needed the time to let my heart heal.
Eventually I did return to the stage and resume my career but I never regretted my decision.
Taking care of Mom means whole world, it's the best decision in our lifetime..
I mean this with all sincerity when I say that this is the best song I've heard in a decade. Not much being produced today can even approach comparison. Brilliantly lifting, exquisitely performed and is a song that will likely endure a significant span of time, unlike the disposable tripe currently being passed off as music. Lily, I hope you never stop chasing it.

I'm 37 and i'm still after mine. I'm so very close its within my grasp. Its taken a lifetime but i'll get it. Its been a tough ride to this point but at no point did i ever let anything knock me down and keep me there. Broke, Homeless, Broken(neck lol) Eviction, new jobs 52 homes and moves. if your not dead, you can still get there if you are resilient enough.

I’m about to be 52 years old and, looking back over the last half century, I cannot tell you how many times I was told… You should’ve done something in Music! About six months ago I was surprised to be offered my first paying gig thinking it would be the one and only but, that has turned into a steady two or three gigs per week. I'm 45 years old and totally love this song. I lived my daydream (even for a short time). I went back to school at age 24 even though everyone was laughing at me and didn't think that would finish. In May 2009, I graduated with a Master’s Degree in criminal justice. I got to be a probation officer and eventually a law enforcement officer working in the Youth crime victim department. It was short lived daydream due to a car accident in 2013 and couldn't work anymore. Besides having my daughter (who is now an EMT at 28 yrs old living her daydream), that short stint was the happiest I was. So ANYONE out there, it's never too late to live your daydream.

@ladydimom276 due to the traumatic brain injury I have, my brain doesn't work fast enough to dispatch. I passed all the tests except the simulation of police, fire and EMS calls. I'm still trying to find ways to still work in law enforcement even after 10 years.

I lost my sister to suicide years ago😞. I went into such a dark place for years... Angry at the world (and myself). I put my dreams on hold. I picked myself up and I’m now following the path I’ve set for myself. I’m almost there🥺 this song is my daily reminder to keep chasing not only for myself but for my sister💕🥺

Love this song! Just listening to to makes me think back to my younger years! I'm going to be 55 in a couple of months and close to 2 years ago I was diagnosed with cancer, going thru the treatments and surgery i am now cured of cancer. I know the ups and downs and the hardships that come with this and I'm so sorry that your Mom passed away! The biggest thing I can tell anyone that has goneor going thru this either having it or having a family member who is....... Stay strong, support thru love, and most of all never give up! Cancer is a thing that has no certian outcome and nothing is set in stone! Thank you Lily for this song......You will reignite the dreams of many people who have either put them on the back burner or have forgot about them thinking they just can't happen!

I am from Sierra Leone - West Africa. Will be 30 in few months and can't stop worrying - I have lived all my life in fear of failing and I stand in my own way all the time but one thing I have noticed over time is when I get too nervous to do something and I summed up the courage to really try, I create something beautiful.

My mum in 2009 Cancer one lung.. Emphysema in the other... i wish she'd had the lung with cancer removed.. we could have dealt with the Emphysema .. but the standard treatment was her choice and it didn't work for her ... Radiation, Chemo and a trial drug took her way too soon... her sister had one lung and 3 ribs removed years earlier and lived another 10 yrs.. Until Emphysema took her... as it did their other sister... when i had my Health Food Store i was able to help a lady with Emphysema to get well... diet plays a major part... i know mum is in a better place now.. No more tears, death, pain or sickness for her in Heaven.. dad joined her just before Covid hit our Aussie Shores together at last.. mum passed the day after their 55th anniversary.. 🥲
They're always in our heart and thoughts... the pain does subside but they're always part of us and with us... a bit like Yashua (Jesus) who promises never to leave or forsake us.. always there...
