I had a similar experience, it was Good Friday and I was walking home from Church at about 7.30. A teenager ran out of the park and across the road and down another road without looking, She was rather hysterical. She was been followed by 2 teen girls and one boy. The boy ran towards me and said, our friends wants to kill herself, can you help. I immediately went after the girl with the others as I knew that their was a railway line beyond the houses. When we caught up with the girl she was waiting to jump in front of the train I heard coming in the distance. All of the teens had been drinking alcohol in the park but they didn't seem that drunk. Anyway I asked her what her name was, and as I was old enough to be her mother she looked at me with little doe eyes and told me her name. I then said to her did you loose someone (I don't why I said that, but Jesus surely had given me that question to ask her) turns out she lost her mother, she was 15 same age I lost my own mother and they both had died in the same way. She went on to say that she had ruined everything by drinking in the park and her family will be mad at her for been selfish. I said to her "you are been to hard on yourself, try not to worry about that", one of the other girls fell on her knees looked up to the sky and said oh God you are so kind. The girl calmed down and smiled at me and I smiled at her and realised she felt she needed permission to grieve. Incidentally none of these young people were Christian, despite the girl's friend's exclamation. Anyway, the words I said to that girl and her friends surprised even myself, I knew that Jesus put all those words in my mouth. One of the other girls had phoned her own mother who came very quickly to pick them all up. I have to say here, the girl seemed really relieved to know that it was ok to cry. Funny thing is, I had always been a great advocate for not stopping people to cry if they need to, even before that incident.

This was a calling-out of all of us who like to "say a quick prayer inside" and not do the actual work of a disciple by "getting our hands dirty" as Christ would. I loved this segment. Jeff Cavins' words are a fantastic anecdote to the lazy christianity so many of us suffer from.

I once saw a young woman crying openly in an airport and resisted the Lord urging me to go comfort her. I think back on that moment with regret.

It is a beautiful reminder for all of us to remember who we are...to recall we are disciples. We carry Jesus within us, and at the conclusion of every mass, we are called to do what you beautifully shared, Jeff!

Guys!! It was the Holy Spirit!! Can’t you see? Why that flight, that day, her sitting beside you, you needing to do something…that kind of serendipitous moment is brought to you by our Heavenly Father. Anytime I feel the “nudge”, I immediately ask the Holy Spirit to use me. I ask for His guidance on what to do, the words to speak (or not speak). 🔥🔥the Holy Spirit is so powerful!

Wonderful. "What do I do?" Had that with a panhandler once. Said no to him in a very brusque way when he asked me a question, not for money. When I got to my hotel room I felt convicted beyond measure. I dropped to my knees, prayed forgiveness and asked the Lord to put me in his path the next day. Being me, I unthinkingly took a different street to my hotel the next day and the young man approached me again saying, "Can I tell you a joke?" (he did not recognize me) This time I said yes and I walked a few blocks with him and chatted. I saw no signs of addiction or mental health issues, just a 20 something down on his luck. I gave him $20 and told him that the Lord had visited him through me on that day. I pray the young man is in a better situation today. I can tell you it is a phenomenal feeling to know that the Lord counted you worthy to be his instrument.

I downloaded this full episode to my computer (TH-cam sometimes deletes videos) but its this exact clip that makes me just CRY every-single-time.
It really puts things into perspective: the perspective of "you're not just my neighbor, you're my brother/sister who I'm just meeting now".
    Praise the LORD, our GOD.

Thank you for loving her Jesus! 😪I wish more people would let You act even me. But I find the worst things sometimes comes out of us as Catholics who encounter a grieving mother or sister I had one person after losing my child at 11 weeks gestation say "we just got to trust more in the resurrection ". I do trust and not the right time to say it. Or I had a friend tell me she was at another friends funeral for her son who died at 22 from cancer say to this poor grieving Mother "well Jesus must love you a lot because He gave you a big cross". These statements al though true are just not the right time. Thank you again for that example.

I have been on planes before waiting for a passenger and when they got on we did clap because they made it. This story reeked of judgement of the others on the plane. Like he was the only "true" disciple there and a positive action was deamed evil. This might be what pope Francis is talking about.

    • @username00009

Same, but it does put things in perspective- is it really appropriate to clap when we have no idea why they were delayed.

I frequently think he is arrogant. However, I like that he admits ways in which he is less than generous, like saying he would be moaning about the plane being held over. He does some very good interviews which is a gift. Some days I just can’t watch him. Three Hail Marys for Matt.
