From a Roman settlement to fighting Oliver Cromwell from George formby to the verve we are quite remarkable I live in wigan my family can be traced back hundreds of years right here I'm a proud wiganer this vid is beautiful in its entirety.
The beauty and majesty of the civic buildings, the people were poor, wretched, God fearing and deferent . Pride and gratitude for what little they had which was basically nothing , love and tenderness for their massive families they could not afford to feed or clothe. Respect for the law, fellow man and stranger alike. Courtesy, consideration and concern for friends and neighbours, street after street of peasants in miserable squalid conditions, they had love in their hearts, God bless them , they didnt even KNOW they were poor..........
This is a brilliant video! I remember the engraving guy; I bought a glass tankard from him for my dad one year, and the fish market shops. eurgh! Some brilliant memories come flooding back! Such a shame that our market hall was demolished for one that's much smaller. It's such a shame WMBC want to demolish it yet again; the town will be too quiet for such a long time until the job is finished.
I am from Wigan and live here and I am only 12 and watching this is so lovely but strange because now there is Wigan youth zone with young people coming out drinking and swearing. why does everything change worse I now go to a music school in Manchester and wish that everyone had that opportunity!
Wigan town centre was so lovely. It’s heartbreaking to see it now.😢

Proud to come from this great little town
At last, someone recognising the importance of Wigan Casino, the greatest all niter in Northern Soul history
Not the greatest, but certainly the most famous.
We should have trams to take shopper from the town centre tot robin park and back again. That would be great
Agree. Put the tram lines there instead of the unused cycle lanes 👍😁
Absolutley brilliant even the music score sounds in keeping with silent films.
Thank you

What is the beautiful music?
Y’know Julia, it’s been so long since I put this on TH-cam, I can’t remember!
@@Franny1232 ah - lovely montage, anyway. Where do you download the music from?
@@Julia-bn1ps it was just off iTunes. I used iMovie on the iPad for both this one and the ones for Ashton and Auschwitz👍
It’s by Philip Glass I think
