Generally, Cummins prior to 1998.5 are mechanical, zero computers.
The 'ISB' designation usually refers to post-1998.5 Cummins 5.9-liter/litre engines.

Under the hood (bed) is nearly identical to my 2000 Bounder diesel. I have been doing as much of my own maintenance as I can and will be watching your post closely. Thanks for posting!

I just bought a injection pump, Throttle Position sensor and Cam sensor from Thoroughbred Diesel. My problem was different. I was getting a dead pedal condition between 40-60 mph.I also was throwing a P0216 code which is a communication error. Never had a no start condition and truck ran strong, just dead pedal. In any case, the issue has seemed be fixed now. I drove about 500 miles mixed driving with no issue. I too am great full to aThoroughbred a diesel for their advice and it all cost me only $1750 with a total of a 5 year pump warranty with their new extended warranty program. I will look at your other videos to see if you solved the issue. Good luck.

I have a 2000 holiday rambler ambassador with 60,000 miles on it that has sat for two years that won’t start, it just cranks and cranks but no starting even with starting fluid. I put new batteries and a lift pump and still no start , do anyone have any answers please?

Steve did you ever figure out what was causing your problem. I have an 5.9 school bus with similar problem, lift pump kicks on and off when key is turned with no start. Thanks

I did not want to just by the ECM. I think that is what it is. I just found someone for $189 to bench test the ECM. So at least I can eliminate that or know that is what it is. Now the $189 will go towards the programming charge of the new one if needed. Crossing fingers that it is good and then just need to find a bad ground or connection.

@@learntobuildit2785 think I've narrowed my problem down to ecm issue also. bluechip diesel has some very helpful diagnostic info on their web site. were you able to get you ecm repaired?

@@silvabeach5145 I will have to check out BlueChip Diesel. I was going to Arkansaw Vally Diesel. I have been so busy and not able to get it out of the vehicle. I am doing it soon.

NO I have not yet. I took the ECM out and sent it in for diagnostic. Came back all OK. I have to believe it is a bad ground or power wire. I am trying to locate a wiring harness. Or find someone that is better than me at finding what is going on

I have saw that, but mine won't start. I have no power at the injector pump. You need power and ground at pin 6 and 7. I don't have that.

There is a relay for the VP44 and on pin 7 you are supposed to have positive 12 volts. I have no power to the relay and then no power to pin 7. But no fuse blown that can be found. It cranks fine. Generator works fine.
