Watch the interview with Chris Liepe. She does write her songs, she's also her own costume designer, meaning she actually makes them. No wonder she and Ren hit it off.
I see this commented a lot on reaction videos. I don't intend to take anything away from my Queen Chinny (I am and have been a member of her community for a while now), but She would prefer credit be given where credit is due. Chinchilla does design all of her hats. This is True, but she uses a designer for some of her costumes, and we should recognize them for doing so. Clothes Designer: Christiana Hadjipapa for her Little Girl Gone outfit and for at least a few others for her live shows. Let's recognize the talent and those who contribute, please. Thanks! Please don't think this is in any way meant to detract from your beautiful and sweet comment, OP!! Thanks
I love watching reactions to this song because everyone is blown away by her voice on the hook, and then she gets to, "hell hath no fury like a woman scorned" and they find out she was just warming up her voice. 😂
I think the point of this, at least for me, is that this is a uniquely female revenge fantasy. Trauma doesn’t affect men and women differently necessarily, but it appears to me that this speaks to a common reality where women face a lot of potential for physical violence on their own bodies, but generally do not have access to any avenue of defending themselves or retaliating through physical reciprocity. This is a fantasy that speaks to the underlying rage a lot of women feel but often have to dismiss or suppress regarding that reality. It’s a fantasy because people aren’t generally thinking about cutting their ex’s fingers off, but it’s a heady fantasy for women because while many women have faced being physically brutalized or killed by significant others, there is not an outlet for the anger that encompasses that reality. She paints a picture of what that anger looks like in a fantasy narrative. The most poignant part for me is the line at the end “put your keys in your knuckles like I have to”… women put their keys in their knuckles to defend themselves against physical assault by men, but how effective is that really? It’s a statement of the he profound vulnerability that underpins this depiction of anger.
I have suffered some serious trauma. Now I absolutely take no sh#t. That said you do lose some of your softness. So both, it's strengthens part of you and kills other parts. Chinchilla rocks.
"Keep your keys in your knuckles like I have to." That's a strong line. It's easy for men to forget about how powerless women really are in a man's world. All the rights in the world won't help you in a dark alleyway if someone decides they want to hurt you. That fear must always be there. Apparently she improvised that lyric. The whole song was reworked with the piano for this performance. It's a great song.

Trauma, too much of it, broke me. And frankly, what doesn't kill you makes you bitter or wish you were dead. No one, and I mean NO ONE could live my life.
I think i remember reading from Chinchilla that this song was more about the breakup from her previous record label rather then a significant other in the normal sense of the word. The beauty about this song is it could quite easily be both.
haha we told you to stop sleeping on Chinchilla. Thank you for the reaction. Looking forward to listening toLittle Girl Gone. Trauma affects all of us equally on a physical level. I think where it changes is in how people are allowed to openly deal with that trauma. Women for a long time were silently abused. We took our voice back. Men have always been in the peril of trauma, and they are expected to take it and never say anything about it. I think we have seen how well that works with our veteran crisis and the higher rates of men unsubbing from life.
Trauma is trauma. My dad used his trauma to be a better father than he ever had, his sister did the same, one of his brothers has been crushed by it, and one of his brothers used it as an excuse to be a felon, sexual predator, and shit father. It’s all subjective…
I have been through a lot of trauma in my life, and now at the age of 44, with three boys, ages 26, 10 and 6, being alone after an emotionally abusive relationship for 5 yrs, I have just finished my teaching degree yesterday... so now I have my bachelorsdegree and I feel empowered, not broken.
The quote that resonates with me is “if I were you, I wouldn’t want to fall asleep, because karma is coming back for you and she’s in the shape of me.” My father used to say “everyone has to walk across a dark parking lot alone sometime.” My Grandma used to say “Cast iron cookware is not just for cooking. If he hits you, wait until he is asleep and introduce him to the iron skillet alarm clock. Don’t stop until you are sure he will never hit you again.” Jerry Reed had a song called Attitude Adjustment. It taught me to treat everyone with respect because no matter how bad you think you are there is always a time and place where you are vulnerable. It is just easier and better to simply be a good person.
Make sure Don’s in studio for that one, P. I love the discussions you guys get into following one of those emotional Superman-punching tracks….but man I swear I saw you react to that. Who knows. I consume too much Ren to keep it straight.

However, social expectations re: how men (are supposed to) operate and how women (are supposed to) operate have created a difference in how that trauma is expressed.
I saw someone comment and say they believed that Fingers & Little girl gone is about her frustrations with how she was treated by the industry rather than an abusive relationship and that kind of made more sense to me, but I don't know if Chinchilla herself has confirmed this theory or not. Great reaction as always BP! Love from U.K xx
Chinchilla is a talented singer and performer like Ren. Her outfits put me in mind of Alice in Wonderland, Queen of Hearts for her style. Beautiful her and her outfits. More Chinchilla reactions like you have done for Ren.

FINALLLLLLLLY!! I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR MONTHS!!! 🖤 🖤 🖤 Regarding trauma: it's always the strongest one who lands on HIS on top, on HIS feet, right? So, when it comes to females getting abused by men it's a fact that there's more women getting murdered in domestic violence situations every year than men, and the reason for that is so multilayered I could write a f*cking thesis about it here. One thing we can all agree on is that men most commonly are stronger physically than women. Then there's the social aspect of everything from the women liberation-movement (in the west), to the fact that lots of ordinary people still harbour thoughts like "well, she's gotta have been doing something for him to beat her like that... " There's shame, there's standards, there's laws, there's social stigma, and the list goes on. If you live in the US today, your "human worth" can't be lower than it is for a female POC, and why is that? (Yes, that was a rhetorical question.) Up until now it's been like this: When boys grow up they get to hear that they're not supposed to cry, don't act like a girl, toughen up, all kindsa BS like that. Girls, on the other hand get sort of the same treatment PLUS a requirement of being pretty, not too butch, tom-boyish at it's best, but just up too a certain age. You're supposed to manage by yourself to a level, but then you're supposed to ask for help from a man. And if you don't? Well, then sayings like "hell hath no fury as a woman scorned" get from being just a saying to a truth. When females snap of one ore another reason it generates miles of words written, blockbusters, sensational lore! But when men do the same, every day, all over the world, it might generate a small note in a local newspaper, but most commonly it becomes a number; statistics. If you think about all the music you yourself have listened to in your life... How much aggression from male artist haven't you, and the rest of us, just consumed. Nothing special, maybe a shrug. Right? But when a female artist describes what she'd like to do to someone who hurt her bad, it's what...? Well, you said it yourself: morbid. Society has no reason to lean back and rest, saying "well, women can drive, vote, start a business, whatever really, without a man, so we're done here!" as long as *"keep your keys in your knuckles like I have to"* says a lot of how it is to be female in this pretty bleak world. So whenever someone manages to put into their art what I, and millions of others, feel on a daily basis, that's when at least I feel like I can breathe a bit easier; there's someone else out there who acknowledges me. Dunno if you understand what I'm coming from with all this, but hey, it is what it is! Love, love, LOVE the reaction! 🖤 🖤 🖤 xoxo From STHLM, Sweden
You are right her work is art not just music. Like Ren her attention to the detail of every aspect of her work is extraordinary. Beautiful, disturbing, relevant, so that even though we may have never been in the type of situation she is singing about, she makes it so recognisable and relatable.
Trauma affects different people differently. Don't fuck with a woman who deals with trauma by taking on life and getting the skills to kick ass. Don't fuck with a man who has the same approach.
Yes, Chinchilla writes as well as produces her own music! She is an effing powerhouse of pure talent and her artistry and creative expression are so unique and fresh. Madly love her, glad you are going down the rabbit hole!
Chinchilla knows..its as simple as that..Her lyrics resonate with millions of women..The quote of Hell Hath No Fury Like A Woman Scorned..I had that hung on my wall..my Ex understood what that meant.. eventually. Bad men need bad Karma..in the shape of the female they abused..full stop.☮️💓🇬🇧
I love how you are expanding your horizons AND loving what you hear. This is an awesome reaction. Mėń* sometimes process trauma through the social norms of being strong, macho, and unemotional because they are not allowed to be otherwise. It’s not a very helpful way to process as a lot of feelings get stuffed. Mėń *seem* stronger, but often they are just left with unresolved pain that comes out else where, such as anger or physical ailments caused by “stress.” I know it’s been hard for you to acknowledge and show all your feels, but it’s valuable in processing difficult things. It’s part of what’s awesome about Ren. He is open about his pain, and it keeps him healthy and here in this world. Love you, BP. Keep up the great work.
Great reaction to a great artist! The whole "fingers" thing, to me is metaphorical. She's talking about exposing the abusive person, making them powerless and not able to repeat the abuse on anyone else. It's very empowering.
How to be me - the live version by Ren and Chinchilla is the greatest thing since sliced bread. It rips you. You need to do it, as many of these messages mention...
I was waiting for your face for womans scorn bit lol. This and little girl gone are my favourite one of hers by the way she makes all her own clothes and hats
Lol knew you'd love this!!!! Chinchillas ability to personify emotions by bringing life to her words be it word choice or pronunciation or annunciation when her words are meant to cut you can almost feel the knifes edge!!! So flipping incredible... her voice delicate and lady like as we're supposed to be then ferocious and venomous as warning that she's been pushed too far.. Bc a woman will give you everything until you take just that lil bit to much and break us and we have to protect ourselves from both the one who hurt us and ourselves if we are to have any hope of putting ourselves back together behind the scenes without leaving cracks in our armor exposing fragility You can tell when it's bad bad bc soft isn't an option when something as simple as a hug could completely destroy you Love this woman ❤❤❤ soooo much talent and omg strength!! Empowering in its purest form... ❤❤❤
When Chinchilla released Little Girl Gone and charted as fast as she did it caused a stir on twitter. because Nicki Minaj also had a release but Chinchilla had a stranglehold on that #1 spot for a few days and people were pissed. Someone tweeted "who da F is this Chinchilla B!TCH keeping Nicki out the number one spot?" I saw Chinchilla reply with something to the effect that she was also a Nicki stan and had gotten her name from one of her songs. I thought it was cute.
She writes and produces her own stuff - you should probably go to Elements next for incredible bars and production - glad to see your respect for such a great artist
Tbh I think a scorned woman takes second place to a damp woman trying to put on a sports bra. That's a level of rage even Lucifer would shy away from 😄
Trauma? We are human, Hi Ren tells it for both men and women. I am a woman abused for 20 years of my life. Made me strong enough to fight through anything, yet understanding the power of words and actions and how they affect others. Be kind, that is the most important thing you can do as a human being.
She is so good Ren & Chinchilla are unicorns. She is the best female vocalist I heard in a long time. She does thing with her voice I have never heard before. Cold water & shadows are really good also. But fingers live is Mount Rushmore performance for me.
So she writes and produces ( her stuff and others work too). She made the hat she is wearing. The piano on this is great- so restrained. Her voice with the piano reminds me a touch of Tori Amos ( little Earthquakes era). The video as a whole- Tori Amos + Alice in Wonderland- on psychedelics ❤❤❤❤
As someone who’s been through trauma, I think how a person handles it depends on the specifics. It also depends on the person, not necessarily the gender. Men may be able to put up a tougher front, due to societal expectations, but that’s also part of the reason suic!de is more prevalent in men.
Absolutely. It’s about how your brain initially process the trauma (different in men and women because our brains carry currents differently), but the management and recovery is the absolute same 💜. Love your comment. I absolutely agree 100%
Omg how did I miss this 🤣yo I almost watched the new one and I was like wait what!! That slipped past me 😳❤❤❤that’s my girl I love her so much man what an amazing human!!!❤❤❤
That was a virgin experience for myself, (beyond the chalk) and your reaction was like a fine outline. I captured a character blend from Alice in Wonderland, the psychedelic yet jazzy tune was a soulful scratcher. A genre bending dark reality artistically done. Chilla Claus brings presence. I appreciate your poetic take on music and life. Proud to be posted here.
I absolutely LOVE Black Pegasus's commentary and this is a classic gem for he spots things I felt but couldn't verbalise. He explains his thoughts so well, with passion and honesty and educates me with every reaction. I'm appreciating music genres I've never understood although they hooked me in and BP is giving me the language to understand. Kudos from a white 63 year old English woman who's loving everything BP puts out. Wow!
Yeeeah man! Chinchilla is like a beautiful monster with an angel's voice! Next one should be the "Elements" lyric video. She goes in hard like Little Girl Gone and the beat is sooo hard.
So happy to see you reacting to this, it’s such a powerful performance and really demonstrates her range and control. You want to look at Elements next, it’s 🔥
Elements is awesome. I also really like Cold Water and Shadows although to hear that last one on youtube you have to start from the middle of her awakenings EP video (that whole thing is great and deserves a TON more views) but Shadows is my favorite of the bunch.

The quote is by William Congreve:"Heav'n has no Rage, like Love to Hatred turn'd, Nor Hell a Fury, like a Woman scorn'd." Chinchilla embodiesthis with her whole being. She is a force to be reckoned with 🙌🏻
Not sure if anybody answered you regarding her name, but she did an interview in which her reply was: “I just really liked it as a name and sound, I used to wear a lot of faux fur jackets, and I guess I always have my claw-like nails on… Then I was choosing between a few names in a cab, and chinchilla kept coming back to me, and a Nicki Minaj song was on the radio, and she said ‘Chinchilla’ in it while I was thinking about it…. done deal. A sign from Nicki! “ Loved your reaction to this epic song and performer ❤🔥 Gonna check out your Space Invaders now ✌

One thing we can all agree on is that men most commonly are stronger physically than women. Then there's the social aspect of everything from the women liberation-movement (in the west), to the fact that lots of ordinary people still harbour thoughts like "well, she's gotta have been doing something for him to beat her like that... "
There's shame, there's standards, there's laws, there's social stigma, and the list goes on.
If you live in the US today, your "human worth" can't be lower than it is for a female POC, and why is that? (Yes, that was a rhetorical question.)
Up until now it's been like this: When boys grow up they get to hear that they're not supposed to cry, don't act like a girl, toughen up, all kindsa BS like that.
Society has no reason to lean back and rest, saying "well, women can drive, vote, start a business, whatever really, without a man, so we're done here!" as long as
*"keep your keys in your knuckles like I have to"* says a lot of how it is to be female in this pretty bleak world.
xoxo
From STHLM, Sweden
You are right her work is art not just music. Like Ren her attention to the detail of every aspect of her work is extraordinary. Beautiful, disturbing, relevant, so that even though we may have never been in the type of situation she is singing about, she makes it so recognisable and relatable.
Ren x Chinchilla - How to be me (live) is amazing
Trauma affects different people differently. Don't fuck with a woman who deals with trauma by taking on life and getting the skills to kick ass. Don't fuck with a man who has the same approach.
Yes, Chinchilla writes as well as produces her own music! She is an effing powerhouse of pure talent and her artistry and creative expression are so unique and fresh. Madly love her, glad you are going down the rabbit hole!
Don't F with Chinchilla - shes a boss! And we love her for it! ❤
Mėń *seem* stronger, but often they are just left with unresolved pain that comes out else where, such as anger or physical ailments caused by “stress.”
I know it’s been hard for you to acknowledge and show all your feels, but it’s valuable in processing difficult things.
Pleeeease show this to lots of people too!!
She writes her own music and produces it too. She's a goddess! Love Chinchilla! ❤ great reaction!
And you'll love Elements too I think.
Oh definitely do "Elements"....my favorite by far
How to be me - the live version by Ren and Chinchilla is the greatest thing since sliced bread. It rips you. You need to do it, as many of these messages mention...
Also her music is absolutely as varied as Rens
I was waiting for your face for womans scorn bit lol. This and little girl gone are my favourite one of hers by the way she makes all her own clothes and hats
Lol knew you'd love this!!!! Chinchillas ability to personify emotions by bringing life to her words be it word choice or pronunciation or annunciation when her words are meant to cut you can almost feel the knifes edge!!! So flipping incredible... her voice delicate and lady like as we're supposed to be then ferocious and venomous as warning that she's been pushed too far..
Bc a woman will give you everything until you take just that lil bit to much and break us and we have to protect ourselves from both the one who hurt us and ourselves if we are to have any hope of putting ourselves back together behind the scenes without leaving cracks in our armor exposing fragility
You can tell when it's bad bad bc soft isn't an option when something as simple as a hug could completely destroy you
Love this woman ❤❤❤ soooo much talent and omg strength!! Empowering in its purest form... ❤❤❤
That NOTE she hits. 🤯
All humans are unique, and our life experiences influence how we deal with trauma far more than gender does.
And this awesome hat was made with a towel ❤❤❤
Tbh I think a scorned woman takes second place to a damp woman trying to put on a sports bra. That's a level of rage even Lucifer would shy away from 😄
Trauma can make anyone stronger or break anyone down and you won’t know until it hits you.
We are animals and we all react to trauma differently particularly dependent on life experience and the stage of our lives🦇
The whole awakenings EP needs more love but shadows is my favorite song from it.
Agreed
so glad you are finally diving into Chinchilla! Elements would be a good next reaction. It says lyric video, but she is in it performing.
You seriously need to do Ren & Chinchilla's "How to Be Me"(Live)... I LOVE "Chalk Outlines", but I think How To Be Me tops it. Amazing live duet.
Agreed.
He's already done that and chalk outlines and busking.
@@jamesleate You sure about that? Not finding "How To Be Me" in his reactions when I search...
Finally!! You GOT TO do Elements too!!She does her own producing too LOVE her!!! She also makes her outfits especially hats!
Yes on the Tori Amos! I've also thought about Kate Bush, Rihanna and Pink (depending on which song I'm listening to).
Once you get past the lampshade outfit and focus on her vocal skill you see she's very talented. There's a theatrical flair about her, too.
Omg how did I miss this 🤣yo I almost watched the new one and I was like wait what!! That slipped past me 😳❤❤❤that’s my girl I love her so much man what an amazing human!!!❤❤❤
Best Chinchilla song+version ever imo. Not much else like it.
Elements..... ALSO A GREAT ONE, put it on ya to do list! ❤😂❤😂
Chinchilla… she is a weapon…
Great reaction
So happy to see you reacting to this, it’s such a powerful performance and really demonstrates her range and control.
You want to look at Elements next, it’s 🔥
Elements is awesome. I also really like Cold Water and Shadows although to hear that last one on youtube you have to start from the middle of her awakenings EP video (that whole thing is great and deserves a TON more views) but Shadows is my favorite of the bunch.
Gotta hear How to Be Me live w/ Ren! Also her song Elements!
If you want a song where the emotions hit and you can feel the pain, Yebba, My Mind the live performance. ❤
YES!!!! 🎉
Her song Elements is incredible. You should def check it out
BP you got Chinchilla and this song right off the bat. What a pleasure to watch💕👍🦇
💯
Yes at last you're checking out Chinchilla!
We love this girl SOOOO MUCH!☮️💓🇬🇧🔥
Regarding Chinchilla, and the meaning of the song... EXACTLY!
Oh man!!! You gotta do some Ren x Chinchilla - How to be me (live). You won’t be disappointed! Thanks for another solid one BP! Much love, and have a great day!
Off to Space Invaders 😁
She also produces all of her own stuff as well!
This performance gives me chills every time. She can cut my fingers off any day.
This song blew her up a couple months back and then she exploded with Little Girl Gone. Hard to believe she only had 6k followers then, she’s at a 61k now. Glad she’s getting the recognition she deserves!
Omg! I love Chinchilla. And Fingers just shows how talented she is!!
This is an amazing performance , i just found out about Chinchilla myself recently and love what i've listened too. I 2nd a reaction to Elements as well as "Know No"
I get Kate Bush vibes... Totally original style. She's incredible
The quote is by William Congreve:"Heav'n has no Rage, like Love to Hatred turn'd, Nor Hell a Fury, like a Woman scorn'd." Chinchilla embodiesthis with her whole being. She is a force to be reckoned with 🙌🏻
Amazingly fabulous Chinchilla 🔥
OMG This is great
Been WAITING for you to do this one for everrr! So glad you got to enjoy it! Don has got to hear this!
Loved your reaction to this epic song and performer ❤🔥
Gonna check out your Space Invaders now ✌
