I've always wondered, given all the great Forgers of history, whether it would be possible to compare forgers in the same way we compare "legitimate" artists. There's this fellow, John Myatt, the German Wolfgang Beltracchi, the American Ken Perenyi and more. They all have fascinating stories but what about their skills? I think it could be a great film...

enjoyed that. understand why people who pay a lot of cash for something would be upset if it turned out to be not what they thought it was.. maybe that means it was never about appreciation of the item and more about the expected appreciation of an asset.

You shouldn’t be embarrassed Waldemar, Shaun is a genius there’s no doubt about it although you might want to pull him up on interrupting you every time you speak it’s a bit annoying.

Mr Januszczak exaggerates the humiliation he has received by talking about the Faun. He was not among Rodin specialists who authenticated the Faun. Noone would expect him to go on air in BBC and claim in 2004 "but it does not look like Rodin". It would sound as if he wore a tinfoil hat. Mr Januszczak is art historian, tv presenter. It is ok for him to get fooled by the experts who specialize in Rodin.

Would be better if this show wasn't presented by someone who can't tell a Gaugain from a knock-off. Clearly good at talking his socks off but not exactly an expert in anything else.
