Mine is 6. Jinjin - 5. Eunwoo - 4. Moonbin - 3. Rocky - 2. Sanha - 1. MJ. When they came to Indonesia and sang one of popular local songs, I heard only MJ and Sanha nailed it and reached high notes so well, Moonbin couldn't reach the high note, nevertheless he's done amazing on "With You" recording
Rocky is definitely an all rounder. He can sing, rap and is definitely such an AMAZING dancer. Rocky did have singing experience before. But it still impresses me how amazing he is. Ofcourse since he isnt training as a singer through his career, he tends to get inconsistent but nonetheless he would do amazing if he did continue taking vocal lessons
I like that he's recognized how Eunwoo's voice has improved over the years... honestly if you look back you can tell he was brought in more for looks than his vocal ability, but he's become a much more dynamic singer and he's gotten more lines over time. I'm not surprised he's this low due to the other members vocal abilities tho.
MJ literally sounds the same live as he does on tracks... he's the only one that you can tell is singing live with his mic turned up to at least 70 or 80% during their performances

In Korea, MJ has been gradually gaining recognition for his vocals. Male idol singers don't often have much public recognition for their singing and for idol fans, other factors can be more important as to deciding favorites ^^; His group is still quite young/new, but he will be playing a lead role in a musical this year and has done several OSTs already.
@@sambradley8297 the idol music genre is a unique one - appearance and personality/fanservice are often more important. Actually cha eunwoo is the member who brought the most recognition to astro at their debut bc of his unbelievably good looks. But bc of that, more people got to know astro's music and less conventionally attractive members like mj and jinjin (who I think has a knack and passion for writing and composing even if he doesn't try to do much for his vocals) find an avenue to express their musical abilities.

Rocky actually trained as a vocalist too I think, but switched into a rapper because astro only had one at the time. At least, that’s what I remember. Whenever Rocky sings us fans always go crazy lol, it’s great

what you've said (but he was lead dancer on debut) is why he IS the centre. People expect excellence for centres or perhaps stunning visuals and don't remark on it. That's where the camera is always focused at the start. The unexpected is what draws attention and this is the kind of vid for commenting on the unexpected, or, what you've known all along but finally your assessment has been vindicated by an expert. Moon Bin's capabilities are not overlooked. Don't worry and he's obviously appreciated.

I was super excited to see that you posted this! Astro is underrated and I was glad to see that you took some time with them. There’s one legendary clip I’ve seen on Twitter of Jinjin singing seriously and he sounded almost indistinguishable from Bin. It was pretty wild. I bet if you ask around you can find it.
Actually jinjin can sing very well but he always pretend to be like stupid n funny,😅 if you noticed there were so many times where jinwoo humming the songs always. 😇😍😍I support him for his singing ability 🤗🤗
I saw a clip where Eunwoo seemed surprised at Jin Jin's choice of audition song which to me meant it was hard or high. The vocal coach had told him. I caught "Gone" but I'm not knowledgeable about pop music. A search didn't help me. Any clue?

Through a recent poll, MJ was ranked the 14th best kpop singer. He is definitely underrated. He is extremely talented. The first song I ever saved from Astro is “Innocent Love” and I think it is still his best high note. He is insane. He is also my ult. At first I was gonna disagree to see Rocky ahead of Sanha, but you came with those facts. I’m a big Aroha and I didn’t even see some of those clips.
Yeahh I searched for best vocal in Google and found MJ is 14th best 💜 for now but don't know what's is he going to achieve in future ☺️ and he is my favourite singer forever and ever and ever 💓
I'm so glad you did astro. They're one of the rare groups among those I like who actually have had very equal distribution of parts since the beginning ( though for the rappers it is mostly bc of their rap) so they kind of all have had to hold their own vocally.
I totally see why you put Eunwoo where you put him, but on a purely personal taste kinda level, I adore his voice. It's so incredibly soft and warm. It reminds me a lot of Jin from BTS when he sings in his most comfortable range.
Actually Jinjin has a number of times where he sings properly when they are making the songs.. jinjin composes songs so he actually sings the songs for the guys when he wants them to reach the right tone. I think in terms of reading notes and pitch jinjin is the best among them, his voice is baritone though and he seems content enough to let the others shine... You might want to listen them singing in English so it’s easier to know their singing ability... since korean language singing has a lot of either nasal, head-tone or throat... not much diaphragmatic or chest singing.. dancing while singing is also a reason for that... so listening them to English or ballad is much better
Samuel Bradley yeah language itself affects the song itself and how it’s delivered... you might notice that a number of akb48 (jpop) members has a nasally voice since they are used to their language and singing in their language... unlike mnl48(ppop) who sings from their diaphragm since Filipino language is easier to pronounce and they generally just have a lot of breathing room... izone(kpop) tend to be either from their throat or chest because of their language... I’m just making them as examples since they are somewhat sister groups... Astro is one of the few kpop group that can do different kinds of singing style except maybe eunwoo (he is a very throat dependent singer) and sanha (he is getting better though unlike the first 2 years where his voice seems to be still in flux)... when sanha sang the a whole new world with soyeon from Weki Meki you can tell he has grown a lot and their duet with Moonbin in phonecert he is still a bit unstable at times but much much better than a lot of kpop groups... rocky singing Versace on the floor really made me want to hear bin sing an English song...

I was so pleasantly surprised about what you thought of RockyI can't believe he almost broke the 'i don't think rappers will get higher than 3rd' curse i love his voice i wish he got to use it more (also this just makes me even more excited for when you get to Infinite) and yeah MJ is an underrated powerhouse i don't think I've ever seen him included in any of the 3rd/4th gen vocalists to look out for unfortunately but that might be because their intl fanbase isn't quite as big, i gotta say i actually love his voice on more ballad stuff like the ost better than his usual astro pop voice but i guess that's just preference. MJ!!! 😍😍😍 i fell in love with his effortless singing: how he hits the notes without a sweat and how he maintains vocal consistency even up to the higher register. he continues to impress me in so many ways (his recent dolphin scream hit D6 and am sure he can still go higher). his transitions from one register to another, vocal control, agility, versatility, etc. are also impressive. astro's main vocalist indeed!!! 😍😍😍

Great vid!! I was also doing my own ranking alongside you in this video and it was the same lol. Even though I love eunwoo he is on the weak side of vocals in Astro he has an angelic voice just not as strong as the others. Rocky and MJ have impressive vocals when they sing together it just an amazing blend of their vocals. But yeah moonbin's vocals are more stable than Rocky 3 is the place for him. Again, great video like always!

thank you so much for doing this ranking for Astro, it's so interesting to hear you delve into their techniques and the potential of their voices! since almost everyone else has already raved about Rocky (as they very well should!) i just want to say that i feel Moonbin doesn't seem to get enough mention or credit about his unique beautiful voice. He himself has been self-conscious about how different sounding his voice is so for others to recognise his stable techniques and balanced mix of voices with the ability to smoothly transition through the different ranges is a testament to how well he sings, and he should be even more confident in his singing 💜what you said about eunwoo's voice described exactly how i felt when i hear his voice, its so smooth n thick but a lot of times i can hear him struggle to reach that higher end of the notes. he has been improving a lot over time so hopefully he keeps on improving!
I think because Bin doesn’t belt out as much as others, people don’t recognize his singing talent as much. I’ve always loved his voice, so I’m glad his technique was dived into in this vid!!
Both Bin and Rocky were trained for rap and vocal but the company chose Rocky to rap because Bin's voice is too soft for rap. Bin actually got a nice flow and clear diction when he rap while Rocky is great in singing too.
Gonna recommend some more "underrated" groups: VICTON, Sf9, Onf, Nu'est, The Rose, Vixx, Infinite, Golden Child (and just for yourself to enjoy Ftisland and N.flying, both bands but they don't have enough singers to do a video)

oh my gosh! I'm so happy you are a fan of theirs and that you ranked them! Seriously, one of the most underrated boy groups that are still active. I remember when I was getting to know them and I first watched their cover of Shinee's "Replay." I still didn't know the members very well but, as far as I knew, only the main vocalist could do the high adlibs of that song....Which is why I became so confused, and I had to replay (pun intended) the cover stage again and again, cause I knew how the main vocalist looked like, and he WAS NOT the member who did the amazing adlibs during their cover....and then it took me 10 minutes to figure out who he was because I was only looking for the vocalists, I couldn't believe that one of the rappers was singing those amazing adlibs!!! Still gives me chills remembering the utter SHOCK I experience that day. Rocky will always be on my top 5 most well-rounded idols list. He is a talented dancer, rapper, singer, actor, and just a sweet person. Rocky just...ROCKS. Also, I agree with your list, except that I would have placed Rocky in 4th and Sanha in 3rd, simply because Rocky is not consistent and sounds like he is pure talent and no reliable technique. Sanha, for me, does sound like he has some techniques he has learned through singing lessons. I mostly look for how reliable a member's voice is (whether they can sing well live, consistently) when ranking them, which is why I switched those two members' rankings, but I totally understand why you put Rocky 3rd tho, he is just THAT TALENTED. Lastly, Moonbin is one of my favorite idols, period. I'm so glad you talked so nicely about him and saw how talented he is :) I super enjoy your videos, can't wait for more! Since you are ranking The Boyz next, it would be cool if you could rank all of the groups that participated in the reality survival competition, "Road To Kingdom." As a vocalist myself, I was really impressed by his unique rich tone and I think it is the best example available of what Rocky is really capable of. I've seen critiques of Rocky that say that musical theatre may be in his future, and he is known as one of the best dancers in K-Pop. Astro's vocals are all really good and I agree with your ranking, I love MJ's high notes and his OSTs like All of my life, are beautiful, Rocky posts vocal songs and covers on Soundcloud which are really good too. I think Sanha's voice really suits acoustic and softer songs like Every day, every moment and I hope we see more of Jinjin's real singing 💜

I really enjoyed your review and I agree with your ranking😌. Although I probably would’ve tied Moon Bin and Rocky @ 2nd place 😏. What I love about Astro is how distinct each of their voices are. They each have very beautiful and unique sounding voices. Eunwoo is my fav, he has an very angelic, but weak voice, and when he’s not lip syncing, you can definitely tell 😆. I especially love to hear him sing in his lower register.. more manly and because he’s not straining so much. Agreed, MJ is for sure the #1🤯👑🥇🏆! Moon Bin’s voice is so unique, and in a sea of kpop singers his voice certainly stands way out🤯! I’m not a huge fan of rap, but I’m a huge fan of Rocky’s style of rap 🤯! Rocky blows my mind with his versatility and incredible range and the strength of his singing voice🤯! His rapping voice and style is very unique and distinct🤯. Everyone talking about "Rocky are really all-rounder idols with lead rapper, main dancer position and great vocal" but no one gonna talk about all-rounder Bin? He's lead vocal, main dancer, can do rap, and also he's the center with incridible visual lmao he need more attention for this
what you've said (but he was lead dancer on debut) is why he IS the centre. People expect excellence for centres or perhaps stunning visuals and don't remark on it. That's where the camera is always focused at the start.
The unexpected is what draws attention and this is the kind of vid for commenting on the unexpected, or, what you've known all along but finally your assessment has been vindicated by an expert. Moon Bin's capabilities are not overlooked.

I was super excited to see that you posted this! Astro is underrated and I was glad to see that you took some time with them. There’s one legendary clip I’ve seen on Twitter of Jinjin singing seriously and he sounded almost indistinguishable from Bin. It was pretty wild. I bet if you ask around you can find it.

I saw a clip where Eunwoo seemed surprised at Jin Jin's choice of audition song which to me meant it was hard or high. The vocal coach had told him. I caught "Gone" but I'm not knowledgeable about pop music. A search didn't help me. Any clue?

Through a recent poll, MJ was ranked the 14th best kpop singer. He is definitely underrated. He is extremely talented. The first song I ever saved from Astro is “Innocent Love” and I think it is still his best high note. He is insane. He is also my ult. At first I was gonna disagree to see Rocky ahead of Sanha, but you came with those facts. I’m a big Aroha and I didn’t even see some of those clips.
Yeahh I searched for best vocal in Google and found MJ is 14th best 💜 for now but don't know what's is he going to achieve in future ☺️ and he is my favourite singer forever and ever and ever 💓

I'm so glad you did astro. They're one of the rare groups among those I like who actually have had very equal distribution of parts since the beginning ( though for the rappers it is mostly bc of their rap) so they kind of all have had to hold their own vocally.
I totally see why you put Eunwoo where you put him, but on a purely personal taste kinda level, I adore his voice. It's so incredibly soft and warm. It reminds me a lot of Jin from BTS when he sings in his most comfortable range.

I found a lot of similarities in jin and eunwoo and I used to think I am the only one who think they both have same kind of voice
I think the same.. jin and eun woo voice is really soft and i kind a like this type of voice. That makes me choose them as my bias of each group
I like Eunwoo’s voice in his natural rank, it sounds like a violoncello , is soft and velvet voice. I hope he uses it more in the future.
Actually Jinjin has a number of times where he sings properly when they are making the songs.. jinjin composes songs so he actually sings the songs for the guys when he wants them to reach the right tone. I think in terms of reading notes and pitch jinjin is the best among them, his voice is baritone though and he seems content enough to let the others shine...
You might want to listen them singing in English so it’s easier to know their singing ability... since korean language singing has a lot of either nasal, head-tone or throat... not much diaphragmatic or chest singing.. dancing while singing is also a reason for that... so listening them to English or ballad is much better
Also to add, Astro and Weki Meki are one of the few kpop groups that actually sings a good English song and can nail it
No you raise a very good point. Korean does have alot of vowel tendencies. Which is why I try and listen to all sorts of things to get a gauge.
Samuel Bradley yeah language itself affects the song itself and how it’s delivered... you might notice that a number of akb48 (jpop) members has a nasally voice since they are used to their language and singing in their language... unlike mnl48(ppop) who sings from their diaphragm since Filipino language is easier to pronounce and they generally just have a lot of breathing room... izone(kpop) tend to be either from their throat or chest because of their language... I’m just making them as examples since they are somewhat sister groups...
Astro is one of the few kpop group that can do different kinds of singing style except maybe eunwoo (he is a very throat dependent singer) and sanha (he is getting better though unlike the first 2 years where his voice seems to be still in flux)... when sanha sang the a whole new world with soyeon from Weki Meki you can tell he has grown a lot and their duet with Moonbin in phonecert he is still a bit unstable at times but much much better than a lot of kpop groups... rocky singing Versace on the floor really made me want to hear bin sing an English song...

I was so pleasantly surprised about what you thought of RockyI can't believe he almost broke the 'i don't think rappers will get higher than 3rd' curse i love his voice i wish he got to use it more (also this just makes me even more excited for when you get to Infinite) and yeah MJ is an underrated powerhouse i don't think I've ever seen him included in any of the 3rd/4th gen vocalists to look out for unfortunately but that might be because their intl fanbase isn't quite as big, i gotta say i actually love his voice on more ballad stuff like the ost better than his usual astro pop voice but i guess that's just preference. I'm excited for WayV!!! as hard as it is to believe I feel like their vocalists are also really underrated considering they're under SM, they tend to be overshadowed by the other more well known NCT units so I'm really curious what you think about them in relation
MJ!!! 😍😍😍 i fell in love with his effortless singing: how he hits the notes without a sweat and how he maintains vocal consistency even up to the higher register. he continues to impress me in so many ways (his recent dolphin scream hit D6 and am sure he can still go higher). his transitions from one register to another, vocal control, agility, versatility, etc. are also impressive. astro's main vocalist indeed!!! 😍😍😍

Great vid!! I was also doing my own ranking alongside you in this video and it was the same lol. Even though I love eunwoo he is on the weak side of vocals in Astro he has an angelic voice just not as strong as the others. Rocky and MJ have impressive vocals when they sing together it just an amazing blend of their vocals. But yeah moonbin's vocals are more stable than Rocky 3 is the place for him. Again, great video like always!

thank you so much for doing this ranking for Astro, it's so interesting to hear you delve into their techniques and the potential of their voices! since almost everyone else has already raved about Rocky (as they very well should!) i just want to say that i feel Moonbin doesn't seem to get enough mention or credit about his unique beautiful voice. He himself has been self-conscious about how different sounding his voice is so for others to recognise his stable techniques and balanced mix of voices with the ability to smoothly transition through the different ranges is a testament to how well he sings, and he should be even more confident in his singing 💜what you said about eunwoo's voice described exactly how i felt when i hear his voice, its so smooth n thick but a lot of times i can hear him struggle to reach that higher end of the notes. he has been improving a lot over time so hopefully he keeps on improving!
I think because Bin doesn’t belt out as much as others, people don’t recognize his singing talent as much. I’ve always loved his voice, so I’m glad his technique was dived into in this vid!!

Both Bin and Rocky were trained for rap and vocal but the company chose Rocky to rap because Bin's voice is too soft for rap. Bin actually got a nice flow and clear diction when he rap while Rocky is great in singing too.
Gonna recommend some more "underrated" groups: VICTON, Sf9, Onf, Nu'est, The Rose, Vixx, Infinite, Golden Child (and just for yourself to enjoy Ftisland and N.flying, both bands but they don't have enough singers to do a video)

oh my gosh! I'm so happy you are a fan of theirs and that you ranked them! Seriously, one of the most underrated boy groups that are still active. I remember when I was getting to know them and I first watched their cover of Shinee's "Replay." I still didn't know the members very well but, as far as I knew, only the main vocalist could do the high adlibs of that song....Which is why I became so confused, and I had to replay (pun intended) the cover stage again and again, cause I knew how the main vocalist looked like, and he WAS NOT the member who did the amazing adlibs during their cover....and then it took me 10 minutes to figure out who he was because I was only looking for the vocalists, I couldn't believe that one of the rappers was singing those amazing adlibs!!! Still gives me chills remembering the utter SHOCK I experience that day. Rocky will always be on my top 5 most well-rounded idols list. He is a talented dancer, rapper, singer, actor, and just a sweet person. Rocky just...ROCKS. Also, I agree with your list, except that I would have placed Rocky in 4th and Sanha in 3rd, simply because Rocky is not consistent and sounds like he is pure talent and no reliable technique. Sanha, for me, does sound like he has some techniques he has learned through singing lessons. I mostly look for how reliable a member's voice is (whether they can sing well live, consistently) when ranking them, which is why I switched those two members' rankings, but I totally understand why you put Rocky 3rd tho, he is just THAT TALENTED. Lastly, Moonbin is one of my favorite idols, period. I'm so glad you talked so nicely about him and saw how talented he is :) I super enjoy your videos, can't wait for more! Since you are ranking The Boyz next, it would be cool if you could rank all of the groups that participated in the reality survival competition, "Road To Kingdom." As a vocalist myself, I was really impressed by his unique rich tone and I think it is the best example available of what Rocky is really capable of. I've seen critiques of Rocky that say that musical theatre may be in his future, and he is known as one of the best dancers in K-Pop. Astro's vocals are all really good and I agree with your ranking, I love MJ's high notes and his OSTs like All of my life, are beautiful, Rocky posts vocal songs and covers on Soundcloud which are really good too. I think Sanha's voice really suits acoustic and softer songs like Every day, every moment and I hope we see more of Jinjin's real singing 💜

I really enjoyed your review and I agree with your ranking😌. Although I probably would’ve tied Moon Bin and Rocky @ 2nd place 😏. What I love about Astro is how distinct each of their voices are. They each have very beautiful and unique sounding voices. Eunwoo is my fav, he has an very angelic, but weak voice, and when he’s not lip syncing, you can definitely tell 😆. I especially love to hear him sing in his lower register.. more manly and because he’s not straining so much. Agreed, MJ is for sure the #1🤯👑🥇🏆! Moon Bin’s voice is so unique, and in a sea of kpop singers his voice certainly stands way out🤯! I’m not a huge fan of rap, but I’m a huge fan of Rocky’s style of rap 🤯! Rocky blows my mind with his versatility and incredible range and the strength of his singing voice🤯! His rapping voice and style is very unique and distinct🤯. Sanha has a very pleasing voice and he’s very steady and consistent. Jin Jin.. I ❤️ his Mad Max rap 🤯!
